- Not a clean fight but at least sub 5 so I'll take it. Got way too many attempts that were better but missed sub 5 by a few seconds because Tigrex likes to waste time with charge spamming so I dont want to keep trying until I get a clean and fast run especially since I still very much enjoy Iceborne casually and farming endgame gear for all weapon types takes priority over doing runs right now.

Knowing that even Cantaperme screws up the timing for Iai Spirit Slash makes me feel a bit better about my Longsword skills.
That Iai slash is tricky but very satisfying when pulled off

So let me get this right, if you attack with the iai sheath as you are going to get hit you do something like an adept evade and do an extra attack? That's dope.

Sort of, once you iai sheathe you have 2 options: first, the one where it sheathes and strikes two times or second, the one Canta used mostly here. If you look closely, the timing is actually kind of strict and sort of iffy if your used to dodging and foresight slashing bc of the animation. It is something you need to really practice bc you lose a level of spirit bar if you don't time it right, Canta actually missed 3 in this run (see red bars turning to yellows @ 1:35, 1:48, 4:01) with more practice i think he's gonna replicate how fucking OP his adept LS was in MHXX.
@@yuushouma1263 some attacks also have some weird hit boxes so even if you time it right, it doesn't register and you lose one bar.
@@yuushouma1263 i think he jsut got unlucky at those 3 attempts, he timed them right/expected an attack but tigrex didnt hit him so he lost a level
@@raxor_ Unlucky or not, he missed. I believe he is still not at the "Canta 100% iceborne LS" mode yet. Unlucky or not, he used them at a time that he could miss. Don't get me wrong, I've been following this guy since 4U and I'm very well aware how good Canta is.. but I dont put him in a pedestal (not saying u r) but he's just human. But as I've said, its only a matter of time before he revisits this run and make it sub 4 maybe even 3. I beleive everything in the game can be timed/countered, you just have to know when the specific visual cue is, no matter how strict it will be, be it a stomp on the ground before the chomp or after another chomp or before it stomps the ground when charging etc.
A few mistakes here and there are what secure the fact that you're human and that makes me feel safe great fun man that's some inspiring LS gameplay right there

i havent iceborne yet but i see its not the same reflex as dodging roars or foresight, the animation is hard to time and has strict timing too.

It's a setting in the game's options. Look for something called "Hunter Silhouette"

how do you rate the poison the goldian weapons have btw? for example my cb with 450 poison does up to 40 each tick, procking every few seconds.
then, there's the ruiner cb with ~200-something dragon.
what do you think is better, or for that matter, do you think the poison is any good/nice to have?
poison is just a nice bonus and works on anything, making it a good allrounder

Actually if you're talking stutter the PRO is worse, at least 30FPS on the normal version is a bit more stable even though it's always shit.
Anything with multiple particle effects on screen, like when Spikeyboi throws spikes, or many of the effects on the Leshen will kill the FPS

So, I've seen plenty of runs with Gold Ian weapons. Do the good raw and natural white make up for the lack of non element boost?

dio cavallo My understanding is that elemental weapons now out damage raw damage builds in most cases as long as you use them on monsters who are weak to the element, while the benefit of raw damage weapons is you can use them on anything meaning you don't have to switch out sets between hunts and are better for doing hunts where you fight multiple monsters as you won't have to keep going back to camp to change your builds.

Somebody had a major hard on for the longsword when making this game. "Let give a fast combo weapon two counters that will be be balanced." So while i'm beating the monsters head with a hammer where are the 3 longsword users? Oh also attacking the head and flinching me WHILE THE TAIL ISN'T CUT. Being a hammer user in a longsword meta.... i'm having tri PTSD.

Hammer mains are cancer, always sending people flying with their stupid unga bunga moves and doing nothing for most of the hunt (and still want privileged access to the head)

@@notscorchingsands9718 maybe, I usually leave the head for hammer and GS users but some monsters give LS users no choice but to go for the head (such as Lunastra, whose weakpoints are the head and wings, and it's hard af to hit her wings during the fight, only when she's down or by a miracle we can land a helm breaker it's when we can hit them. Kirin is another example. Should we go for the small ass horn or attack the body for that sweet 30 damage per hit, not to mention bouncing off for days? :v ).

Is there any way to farm gold rathians that doesn't involve area resetting (aka load screen hell) and scrounging for investigations?
There is an optional quest with both Gold and Silver in it but you have to see both at least once first to unlock it

@@fenris5932 there is her arena quest. Capture her in the guiding lands and you should unlock it. I don't know if the quest is always there or it appears randomly after you beat it
Not to this point in the game yet but as far as I’m aware arena quests do cycle in and out, but it’s still a moderately consistent way to farm a monster, also can you not just get investigations for monsters found in guiding lands?
Like Canta said, there is an optional with both gold and silver that you unlock at MR 125. You can also start collecting investigations on them easily since they sit in Nergigantes nest - just wait 20 minutes, don a ghillie mantle, and scoop up tracks.
