Thank you! Very helpful step-by-step instructions. Saved me hundreds of dollars. Only thing I would change/add is when peeling vapor barrier (6:07 into the video), instead of rolling it inward, if you just pull it backward and just fold it flat, and then clamp against cables you unplugged earlier from Window control unit with a clip or even a small piece of tape temporarily to get it out of your way, this will save you time when putting it back together. Because if you roll it inward like at 6:07, glue residue left on the paper will stick to itself, and it's not going to be easy to pull the paper back to its original form later. I hope this helps.
Not sure if there was a change between model years or trim etc but my vehicle did not have adhesive but had very gooey liquid gasket type material as opposed to adhesive that needed to be cut. Very messy to work around/with but I was able to peel the plastic back to access the m6 nuts easily.
For anyone else wondering like I was (surprised no one else is asking) I asked the Honda dealership and they said they use 3M General Trim Adhesive (Auto, 08088) for the vapor barrier, for the stuff that's being cut off in the video. It might not be the same adhesive and they said they used to have a Honda custom adhesive, even across different cars, but they confirmed this should work either way even if your car has another adhesive currently.
Perfect info bud. Replaced mine in 20 minutes. 2 issues I had, I used a DULL razor blade.. Very annoying. And I forgot to put the rubber plug back in place supporting the vapor barrier. Other than that, it went great . Thanks.
Some a*#$hol3 sideswiped my mirror and now just dangling thank God this was very helpful?question my handle to open my door from the inside it won't open on the passenger side it's so annoying I really think that the dealership did it last time I got an oil change they forgot to tighten the bottom cover and was dragging on the floor literally smh
Hey I have a question, I have a friend who is willing to sell me a TOURING passenger side mirror for my Honda civic Sport. Does anyone think that there will be any problems if I connect it into my Honda civic sport? I kinda need it tho
Thanks for the video, it is well detailed and straight forward, someone knocked off my side mirror and Honda is charging me an arm and a leg to replace it. Now I know how to do, I just need to find where to buy a new one.
I have the same problem. The mirror is available, but not the mirror cap that matches the color of the paint. My existing one is unmarred on the broken mirror, but I'm reluctant trying to get it off as the clips on those things break easily when trying to remove them from the mirror.
Jeeze, people keep on hating on our Civics! The same thing happened to me as well. I found a few used ones for $500, so I ended up getting the original from Honda dealer for $550.
great video! i currently have a 2022 civic sport. is there any way i could get a touring mirror and plug it in and use the features on it, or is there things i would need that i couldn’t get (blind spot, turn signal)
Hey thank you so much for all your videos. They’re great! Do you know how to remove the exterior, triangular trim piece right above the side mirror? That black cap that is at the mirror, below the top window trim, and meets right at the fender corner? Does it just pop off with snaps or something? Trying to chrome delete my car and thinking it might be easier to remove that if it just pops off but I can’t tell.
Thank you for the video! I searched online for the 10mm socket extension (Amazon, Home Depot, etc.) and can't seem to find the right product. Could you possibly point me in the right direction? Is the extension separate from the 10mm socket itself?
Late reply, but yes. The socket and extensions are separate. Make sure you get the right sized extension to fir the socket and the wrench. ( 1/4 , 3/8, 1/2 )
Is there anything special you do when installing the new mirror in terms of restoring the vapor barrier? Are you just mushing the adhesive still on the door and on the vapor barrier back together, or does any new adhesive need to be applied?
Because this is a newer model just use the existing adhesive and press it back together. As the cars age the adhesive tends to harden and lose stickiness at that point you can tape the vapor barrier back in place or use an adhesive spray.
Seems I have the same story as a few people in the comments; got sideswiped and need to replace. For anyone who might see this, I found a mirror (yes powered) for $85 on 1A auto part and it comes with a lifetime warranty. When it arrives I’ll come back to rate it
I dropped 1 and it was a pain lol. I used a second set of hands to hold a flashlight, a slim jim ( small thin long piece of metal to unlock car doors ) to pry up the nut just high enough to grab it with my extended magnet.
The adhesive that you took off with the razor blade doesnt apply to my hatch back, instead its a gluey slimey black, looks almost like condensed crude oil. so anoying
@@pedroteles8707 yup, it was a bit messy but finished and i lost one nut because i didnt follow the part where he put the tape in the socket. So i recommend doing that. lol
I dunno if it’s just a Canada thing but I’ve been waiting over two months now for a replacement side view mirror for my 2022 Civic Sports Touring hatchback. The repair shop says the order is now on Critical. This supply crisis SUCKS.
I just did my passenger side mirror with the cap , and from a Honda dealer in South Florida. Everything along with tax was $441.00 . Which makes me wonder why those people on €-Bay are asking $450.00 + for a used mirror. Glad I checked the dealer first.

Would the process be similar for my 2023 Honda HR-V? The side mirror is attached in a similar place on the door.
Hi, do you know how to replace a broken side mirror glass? Thanks!
Fantastic video, dealer was charging me 200 for labor on this replacement 🥳

My 2023 Civic mirror is heated, has Blind Spot Monitor and LED, will it be the same or more complicated?
Same exact way. Just remember to plug everything back into the mirror.
