Also, I'll be honest, the main reason I bought this version was because of the snow on the train cards... 😍

You should most definitely do a highlight on Histrio!! That game does not get enough love!

Modern Classics that I've never played: Ticket to Ride, Catan, Dominion, Magic, TI, Agricola...

Steven Amamoto MtG is it’s own animal that you should know about, but not necessarily play. Agricola is hard, and TI is long. No shame there. However, you really do need to play TTR, Catan, and Dominion. They’re classics for a reason. You may not need to OWN them, if your collection already has more modern replacements, but you should play them.

Ticket to Ride Marklin (I love it for the Marklin toy trains on the cards) and Ticket to Ride Pennsylvania (the stocks and our former home state)

#suggestion for next highlight game -> Castles of Burgundy, Feast for Odin or Dominion :)

Oh, you just put exactly my thoughts into words "I don't like choosing to be mean in games, but I do like competition".
Someone who I don't play with much any more, when given the chance, will be super mean in games, and will even target certain players - I personally think that takes any fun out the game.
I remember one game that I ended up winning, but did not enjoy at all purely because he'd spent the entire game targeting me with take that actions. I'm fairly confident if my introduction had been different, I would have loved it, but instead, I've never played it since.
Competition is great. Being mean isn't necessary.

I would disagree, some times you are mean just to be mean in ttr. Especially when you know where the other person is going, and it looks like a long route.

Joshua Estes I’ve never seen that as worth it. When my group plays we’re usually down to the last train on completing our routes; meaning no one has the trains to spare to block. If I buy a useless route to screw you, I now can’t finish my own route. Plus that removes one line from my counting for longest route, which in my group is usually a continuous line of ALL trains. The only way we can ever play to “screw” someone is to hurry and rush to play out quickly so that the other players have a line they didn’t finish. It comes to the same end, in that you’ve prevented someone getting their route, but you’ve not “wasted” any trains. I’ll finish my last route by buying 2 three car routes rather than holding out for a six line to finish quickly and hopefully block someone via just ending the game. But, I guess it all depends on groups and styles.

@@Trevin_Taylor I am not the greatest TTR player, but those who smoke me generally know the route I am taking and are able to block me out, especially when it is a long route near game end. I have been able to swing a score by 40 points by blocking a route at game end. The app even has a challenge where you need to win without completing any routes, and it is actually very easy to do. Part of the ability to do it comes from knowing the routes so well that when someone starts putting down track they reveal where they are going and allow you to create obstacles to prevent them from completing their routes.

Joshua Estes I can see the app being different. I haven’t played it.

@@Trevin_Taylorit is a great app, but also super addicting because no scoring or set up, so games take about 10-15 minutes.
