Barkeepers Friend liquid and a scrubber will do wonders for the tub (as long as the actual finish is still intact). I clean houses like this and that's what we use.
I am in tears, these pitiful animals are being neglected. They are bored out of their minds. They need cat towers so they can see outside and several types of scratching post. Ones on the floor and upright ones of different textures. This is heartbreaking. If he can't or won't take care of himself he should give these poor creatures to someone who can care for them properly. Get him several empty coffee cans and put some sand in them, leave them all around where he sits for his cigarette butts. You are an angel for helping him, plz get him some professional counseling and find these cats a good home where they can get some play and attention.
I'd like 2 make a suggestion about the blinds. Replacing them with the thicker faux wooden blinds, that r 2 1/2 " slats, r easy peasy washing, that cats can't destroy. Also keep out the heat & cold. I love mine! Your Oregon Viewer.

The cat is not “nasty”. When you have pets, you have to clean up after them. The cat is peeing all over because the cat box is filthy, so they will go elsewhere in the house. Male indoor cats need to be neutered to help with his spraying. All of this is controlled by the owner of the pet. It is not the cat’s fault that things ended up this way. Hopefully after this clean up and with help they can keep things cleaner, then the cat won’t use the whole house/apartment as a litter box.
Depression and anxiety are excuses. Soooo over people using that as a reason. They are nasty and lazy. The house will be back to trash in no time. Stop wasting your time on people that don't care

It is actually a really nice apartment. Decent patio, fireplace, good floors and moldings, and then a washer and dryer connection. It even has a bar! I would totally rent that if I were back in apartment life.
Regardless of how hot it is outside, those windows need to be opened to help air the place out. I moved into an apartment where the previous tenants had been smokers, and it lingered. It took forever to get the stench out, even after cleaning every surface, and having the carpets cleaned twice. It was a bit miserable, but I opened the windows as often as possible to help.
I have had cats for years. There needs to be a litter pan for each cat. If they aren't cleaned out at least 2 times a day. Nobody likes a dirty toilet to go in. I want to add that it can be a urinary problem , so it would be a good idea fir the cats to go to vet.

Just a suggestion as far as the cats go. When my female cat started spraying I couldn't understand why. So I called my vet and they told me that three main reasons are: they aren't feeling well, they aren't fixed, the cat pans are full and dirty. They will only use the pan so much before they use the house as a huge cat pan. Well, her pan was a!ways changed,and she was fixed. so I took her to the vet. She had a urinary tract infection. After her antibiotics she went back to using her pan. How many do they have? A pan for each is suggested and not in the same area. Maybe one in the bedroom and one in a bathroom or extra hall area.I hope this helps somehow. The gray kitty is cute!!💗
A squirt of scented hand sanitizer in a mask (let it dry a minute) is of great help while dealing with odiferous environments. I used to do this myself while working in the hospital. It allows a person to deal with things. 💙
I would use powerpaste or pink stuff, or make your own baking soda and dish soap mixture, for those stains in the tub. Also amazing to use for burnt on grease on stoves and ovens. Amazing job so far!
@@KellyIrishgirl1 its something you can buy, I had to order it online. You can make something similar with bicarbonate soda (baking soda) and a little bit of dish soap. You want toothpaste thick constancy. Rub it on a stain with a hard scrubber. Be careful, it is abrasive and could damage some surfaces.
Ah, I have a different recommendation, as an old, super experienced cleaner to remove the blue stuff in tub: if tub is fiberglass, use Soft Scrub with bleach. Let it sit for 30 min. It's gooey so stays put. If tub is enamel, use Bar Keepers friend - it does amazing things
Maybe if he kept the blinds raised about 12” from the bottom so the cats could see out them they might stop destroying them by trying to see out (or maybe get out as in HELP, LOL). Maybe set a little stool under each window that you raise the blinds so the cats can sit or lay & look out the windows.
Another great round of cleaning and I think you are being smart in taking things a bit at a time. As for your dirty window blinds problem? I don't have blinds in my home but I have seen people just take them down and clean them in the bathtub, letting them soak in hot, hot water and a combination of Dawn dish soap and a bit of powder Tide. That seems to really work with minimum elbow grease. If I recall, those vertical blinds just unclip so you can soak the "strips". THANK YOU for another great and inspiring video!

As someone with experience with electricity, be careful using an adapter. Those are not legal and it's not supposed to be a permanent solution. Depending on your issue (I'm assuming the house is 3 prong and the dryer is a 4 prong - the most common of issues) the problem is that the wires from the breaker box to the outlet do not have a ground where the dryer is requiring a ground aka the missing 4th prong. Be sure to have a certified electrician come out to verify what you're doing is okay and not overloading the circuit. Just be careful. Nice video!

Wonderful Job!! Cats won't use a dirty litter box. The question is how often would you flush after #2 ? The boxes have to be kept scooped out every day or every other day. I am a broken record on this. If you place their boxes inside of a large cardboard box with a U shape for a door no fall out litter or hardly any.

Because of the condition of the home, the cat is also depressed and stressed out. That will lead to the cat urinating and pooping all over the house. It’s a way for them to express they need help. If the outlet for the dryer is out of date, it might need an upgrade for the dryer not to blow fuses. If it is a rental apartment the landlord should be doing annual updates.
G'day, KarenStairs8273! I'm a bit confused myself as to whether it is a house or a flat. Some have commented that it is a relatively new-looking place which should have a laundry room for tenants and upgraded outlets, etc.
Knowing what the blue stains in the tub came from may help you select a cleaner. The orange ones look like cigarette burns which unfortunately are permanent. I hope the tenants have committed to smoking outdoors only after all of your hard work to wash the ceilings and walls 🤞🤞
This is actually a very nice apartment... It's just that the owners neglected it badly. But at least it is structurally sound, and not caving in. The cleaning was magnificent - I hope the home will be maintained in a sanitary condition and those poor cats properly cared for.
not sure if this helps but cats may be going toilet outside of their litter boxes due to in the past there was not clean litter. may need to soak litter box first or replace it. Once cats realise their tray is going to stay cleaned they will go back to using it. In severe cases you can get a stop spray to use on base boards to help them stop. Also the vertical blinds i just roll them up and put them in delicates bag zip up and pop in washing machine on delicates wash low spin cycle make sure its a good warm wash. good luck and great work.

Just remove any gross filth (chunks or buildup), then soak in vinegar or paper towels soaked in vinegar. To remove the discoloration, combine hydrogen peroxide with baking soda and a few drops Dawn dish detergent, either as a paste or a slurry. Let sit on stains and wash clean with water. Works like power paste.
These people should order, better yet, buy an Ozone Machine, it will help to eliminate the smells out of their house. Honestly, they need to really consider their commitment to their cats. Cats will soil everywhere if their cat litter box is not kept clean for them. You and your husband are both angels for helping them.
Yea cats do not usually just mark in a home or have accidents unless there is something wrong i.e.- infection, an overflowing full box or they are in heat and haven't been spayed etc. They are usually very clean if the environment is copacetic.
Clorox makes a urine smell and stain remover; I use it because my husband has dementia and sometimes pees on the carpet or tile floor. You spray the Clorox solution generously and I stomp on the area until it soaks into the carpet pad then let it sit for 15 minutes and then clean the area, I have a carpet cleaner, so I fill the cleaning solution tank with hot water, a heaping teaspoon of Borax, and a few ounces of the Clorox urine solution and clean up the soiled areas. The Clorox urine remover is about $17 a gallon, but I'm super impressed how it removes the urine smell from carpeting and grout.
My mother used to clean for a living. She would take down the blinds and let them soak in the bathtub and then scrub them up. Those look like they're in pretty bad shape. I'm not sure they would hold up soaking in the tub.

Consider using some non_toxic cleaners for the sake of your health. You're ingesting ten times what a non cleaning person would. If you're inhaling it, you're 're absorbing it thru the lungs and into your bloodstream. Been there and done that....
A full cycle on the hottest program on the washing machine with a dishwasher tablet in it should make it so it doesnt stink and it also removes all the gunk inside, just a lil protip
Please teach him to leave the washer lid at least cracked. All washers need the lid or door left open to air. Manuals tell you that. Plus pull the center of washer out, it is probably clogged with sofener which mold
Question: doesn’t the bleach in the cleaner discolor the floor? I’d be afraid to spray it on the baseboard for fear it would damage the flooring. Also the mop your using seems to have a small head. What brand is it? I’m hooked on your videos!
Try Power Paste on those spots. I've never used it but heard it's a great product. I have cats and have the 2" faux wood blinds and the cats have not been able to do any damage to them them thus far. If they can invest in those blinds that would be best. If you would please link or annotate what products and equipment you're using in your videos. A lot of people want to know that information. Replace the blinds with the faux wood ones. Cats can't break those. Also have him raise them about 6 inches...so the cats can see out.

Most chemicals require a fifteen minute dwell time. So spray the item,do something else and come back to it. Fantastic job!

I had two nails on my house to hang them and a sprayer for blinds. Rinse with a garden hose and let air dry.

That's a great tip, I've been stuck with how to clean mine even though they are like a foam slat. Cleaning each one is so time consuming.

I would get temporary roller shades that pop in easily and just toss those mini blinds. Or just inexpensive curtain panels on cheap tension rods.

Bleach does not deter them. Use a white vinegar solution. Neutralize the ammonia. A white vinegar and baking soda paste will get the odor and stain
Take the ocedar mop to the window blinds to clean them up 💖🥰
Try tide powder in bottom of tub if it's gridded it will come out supper clean and spic and span work really well on the walls

Consider using some non_toxic cleaners for the sake of your health. You're ingesting ten times what a non cleaning person would. If you're inhaling it, you're 're absorbing it thru the lungs and into your bloodstream. Been there and done that....

I don't think bleach is enough for cat pee. They need special cleaner with enzymes for that. Thank you for an amazing job! ❤
A full cycle on the hottest program on the washing machine with a dishwasher tablet in it should make it so it doesnt stink and it also removes all the gunk inside, just a lil protip

Please teach him to leave the washer lid at least cracked. All washers need the lid or door left open to air. Manuals tell you that. Plus pull the center of washer out, it is probably clogged with sofener which mold

Question: doesn’t the bleach in the cleaner discolor the floor? I’d be afraid to spray it on the baseboard for fear it would damage the flooring. Also the mop your using seems to have a small head. What brand is it? I’m hooked on your videos!
Try Power Paste on those spots. I've never used it but heard it's a great product. I have cats and have the 2" faux wood blinds and the cats have not been able to do any damage to them them thus far. If they can invest in those blinds that would be best.
