    such a nice change of pace playing classical music on a powerlifting video. usually its just shitty new heavy metal n shit. moonlight sonata is awesome.

    • @88riddlemethis

      +booby b I listen to classical while I lift. I can lift more when my mind is still and calm that I can listening to hard rock throwing my nervous system all out of wack. I agree though, good music.

    • @Benaddicted11trkfbal
      @Benaddicted11trkfbal 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never listened to classical music during work outs. Before heavy sets, I through some heavy zep or sabbath. I might try a calmer approach sometime but I feel like when you get hyped up the weight just feels lighter and adrenaline is going.

    • @88riddlemethis
      @88riddlemethis 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It makes me calmer and helps me treat the weight lighter. I rarely listen to music while I workout though, but when I do it's classical.

    I love how people think that powerlifting doesn't get u big. It is actually way more beneficial to train powerlifting style if you are natural and trying to gain mass. "Bodybuilding style training" only works best when you are enhanced.

    • @zaynmalice7106
      @zaynmalice7106 10 ปีที่แล้ว +48

      I agree, but I feel this comment is misplaced. This is a video of Dan Green, a powerlifter who is enhanced.

    • @SuperHmyaBros
      @SuperHmyaBros 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      This is partially true. Yes, training for power and strength is beneficial for mass and thickness gains naturally. However, incorporating hypertrophy style training at the middle to end of your workout is beneficial for naturals too to get more definition and cuts. Also it helps with the top layer fibers of muscle to grow, but strength is all the muscle fibers on the base connected to the bone, which is the thickness and mass.

    how come he doesn't try the conventional deadlift? his legs aren't that long. pretty short actually so he should be able to do just fine with conventional. i'm not saying one if better than the other i'm just curious as to how much he would be able to do if he just switch his style all of the sudden

    • @kookieless
      @kookieless 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He does pull conventional. Just not in competition. th-cam.com/video/G5oCZ5XmfXE/w-d-xo.html

      He pulled conventional for years, up to like a mid-600 pull and he now pull in the mid-700 range conventional. Trust me at this point of the game he has tried both and knows what works for him.

    • @lift_play_boogie

      Short legs relative to torso is bad for conventional deadlifting.

    • @michaelautrey6641

    • @valhalla.training
      @valhalla.training 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      he just pulled 900lbs conventional WITHOUT a belt in the cage lol powerlifters who compete in sumo, will train conventional (conventional compliments the mechanics of the erectors a lot more as well as keeping general lower/mid back strength) they train both, but usually compete in one

  • @chilelalo

    they allow the bar to sink into your chest when benching in powerlifting meets?

    • @22ImHuge22
      @22ImHuge22 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's allowed to sink as much as you want but can not sink any more once the press command has been given, that is the rule.

    • @Jmack7861
      @Jmack7861 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      In some federations* others such as nasa(I believe) sinking is not allowed

  • @TheNagcg333
    @TheNagcg333 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why is he bouncing the bar off his stomach when benching? Does that not hurt?

    • @EgeCagan95
      @EgeCagan95 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheNagcg333 it's called leg drive , pretty useful. it hurts a little bit but not a problem for these guys.

      Ege Çağan Oh right, thank you

    • @simonphoenix4234
      @simonphoenix4234 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +TheNagcg333 it is called "sink" bench. It is allowed in some federation but not IPF. Using this, you get some "rebound" in the bottom that helps lifting the bar up

  • @TheSpiritWalk
    @TheSpiritWalk 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not trolling...but I though the Bench had to have a pause..as in bar stoppage. If not letting it sink to reversal would be huge diff.

    Squats more than he can deadlift! How mads that??

    • @VnOnWoNg
      @VnOnWoNg 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He squatted more than he could deadlift in this video because it was a meet that allowed knee wraps. Knee wraps allow lifters to be able to squat more than they can deadlift, if it was a traditionally raw meet (meaning knee sleeves, belt, and wrist wraps only) then Dan wouldn't have been able to squat more than his deadlift.

    • @alexmunn36

      Well not always can you squat more than deadlift, I'm good at squats but my deadlift is ever so slightly more

    how are you gonna say this is raw, he has much gear as possible on,
    not to take away from the weight he's doing, considering i couldn't do half this weight with gear let alone without it

    • @MaxBadstibner
      @MaxBadstibner 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glenn Donia What "gear" are you referring to exactly?

    • @coladud7061
      @coladud7061 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MaxBadstibner knee raps, belt, powerlifting shoes. Yes, powerlifting shoes are fundamental but it still isn't raw, it discredits real raw lifts that literally contains nothing but a shirt and a pair of shorts.

    • @MaxBadstibner
      @MaxBadstibner 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@coladud7061 Nah it doesn’t discredit any lifter because every major powerlifting federation considers all of the equipment that you listed as raw. The only exception would be that knee wraps would be considered “raw with wraps.” Sorry but your personal definition of what raw means contradicts the status quo that is accepted by legitimate powerlifting bodies.

    • @coladud7061
      @coladud7061 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MaxBadstibner I agree with you, but I still do see that there is an argument to that it does discredit "True" raw lifters. I madly respect this guy, but I would still not, by my own measures as you said, call it raw.

    • @MaxBadstibner
      @MaxBadstibner 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@coladud7061 I agree that there is a sort of purity to not relying on any equipment at all. It’s like with the rainbow arched benches where the range of motion is incredibly small. I get that it is within the rules of the sport, but as a lifter it doesn’t sit well and feels cheap to me.

    how did he get the 522 bench passed? let it sink into his gut, leg and hip drive to get it started, it stopped half way up, uneven extension, and it hit the bench upright. how was that not red lighted? powerlifting today isn't truly powerlifting, it's developed into something else, and i'm not sure what to call it. today's lifters would be called for so many infractions, compared to the lifters of the 70/80/90's...that was truly power lifting, you actually had to follow the rules, and the judges weren't afraid of hitting the red light, letting you slide because of your so-called reputation.
