Best of luck with whatever changes you feel you need to make (or have made since I guess whatever was announced in the Patreon video is related). Know it was a hard and busy year in 2024, so hopefully this coming year can have some relief from those contributing stresses.
2024 was one of my better years in recent memory. A lot of what stressed me out in 2023 was not a factor anymore and I got to spend time with a lot of people I care about. I did a lot of stuff I wanted to do and I'm very optimistic about what 2025 will bring.
2024 was a roller-coaster of a year for me. Struggling with mental health, issues with certain family members, other stuff getting in the way. It was one of those years I'm glad to be over and done with. The start of 2025 has been "meh" in a sense that my Dad had to spend 2 weeks in hospital with pneumonia, and only just recently recovered from it.
Seeing ATK and DEF on the Barbie cards is kinda like finding the Assault Ready version of Barbie with her pink AR-15 and pastel Glock with "real slide action", and combat knife.
Couple weeks into 2025 (and so far my thoughts are "Ugh I think I'm ready for 2026 😔"), but 2024 was a challenging year for many. I had a very challenging 2024 myself, though it was not all bad. And yeah, seems like 2024 has offered you a roller coaster, a roller coaster with at least very cherishable highs.
Having not watched the patron video I don't know what plans you may have already outlined, but have you ever considered having a separate channel for the travel content for the vlog? For example, limiting the "daily vlog" content to some brief highlights or morning/evening updates on your day and then saving bigger compilations of the full day for another channel. Seems like it might be one way to keep the daily vlog content caught up but still leave room for creative exploration for trips.
I know that you’ve already discussed whatever you need to do on the patreon vid but brother, in my opinion you don’t need to do a daily vlog anymore. What you’ve accomplished is pretty amazing. I’m not sure that there’s another human being on the planet who’s documented every day of their life for damn near 15 years. You should be proud of that. Obviously do what’s in your heart but you’ve established a great following over the years that will support you with or without a daily vlog so just know you can lean on that. Cheers.
2024 was the hardest year of my life. I’m not going to say that it was the worst year of my life because a lot of personal growth came out of it. 2025 may still be a tough year but it will certainly be better than 2024 because I have willed it so.
I know you like to edit the vlogs yourself but I’m wondering if you could hire an editor to edit all the vlogs where you are on vacation? Just consider it another vacation expense. That might allow you to be able to enjoy vacations more and not have to worry about how much work you will have to do and have far behind you will be when you get back home.
2024 was honestly rly hard for me and my family. My maternal grandmother passed last January and we had to clear out their house of all their stuff when she passed. It was my childhood home and losing it was really hard for all of us. I still miss them terribly. They were like the heads of the family, my grandparents, and now that both are gone, everyone seems to have just gone their separate ways. It has just rly hard. 😢😭😔
You guys tackled doing more streams than ever this year. It's tough to balance being on Twitch consistently and Managing the TH-cam Channels (mainly the vlog channel). I've seen it with other creators that go to streaming regularly that after awhile their youtube content takes a hit or the majority of their content is just cut up stream VODS. I would say maybe cutting down the streams to every other week or doing maybe one breakfast stream and one gaming stream a week would help free up time to work on the vlog. However, if streaming is what you and Mal want to move towards more being the main content; daily vlogging might have to be cut down to weekly. It feels like thats what Stephen might be alluding to. It's gotta be a tough decision after 15 years
It sounds like an issue of being self-employed. No one is telling you how to manage time and prioritize tasks. It takes lots of disclipline and energy to manage yourself. You van easily get stuck because no one is telling you a deadline. There is no project manager who is "taking the blame", and there are no colleagues you can ask for help. Just my thoughts, I can be wrong of course.
I'm gonna be super blunt but I'm not trying to be rude - the japan vlogs, much like when you stopped altogether and ended up splitting the timeline in 2018, are useless to me a year later. If they released a month after the trip, I'd enjoy them..but at this point, it's a scrap it and move on. I stopped watching the vlog when you split the timeline..for quite a while even. I was angry as heck about it! Like suddenly 2018 and Sagan just went poof. Eventually I came back but every old TL release has been skipped. It didn't matter YEARS later. The vlogs, while always perpetually behind, are important to be current. That's the point of a vlog. Talking about current things. Daily happenings etc. Japan being 10 months ago is dumb. A few weeks, even a month is VERY reasonable to be behind - even for simply privacy reasons. You guys are always busy and hard workers, and you have too much pride to lower your standards, but I still see no point in them now at all. Whenever they do appear, they're just another thing to skip over.
@@saneohgeezus in 2018 Stephen was 6 months behind on vlogs and it was causing mental stress so in order to deal with it Stephen started releasing current vlogs rather than 6 month old vlogs, and would go back and work on old vlogs when he was caught up with the current timeline vlogs causing a "Timeline Split" he only just finished releasing 2018 vlogs like last year.
At the end of the day we are basically customers and not his friends (that reminder is for me as well as anyone else who needs it). So you and I have every right to watch what we want to watch, and skip whatever we want to skip. Also keep in mind I think it's not really a big secret that this vlog doesn't make him money anything close to what his stream and Patreon does. So of course that should be his focus because...you know...bills.
You're entitled to feel the way you do but I get the feeling Stephen would want to finish the Japan Vlogs and upload them for more than just viewers' benefit, since the group usually gets together to watch older vlogs and reminisce. I personally think it's something nice to look forward to, especially bc Stephen puts a lot of time and attention into editing them, they're time capsules. And I find them to be worth waiting for.

Agreed. I think the daily vlog is nearing the end.
Maybe weekly vlogs could help tweak your workload?

Echoing other commenters; Stephen makes the vlogs for himself and people happen to watch.
