That zip tie trick is great! I've been using paracord with a constrictor knot which barely works.

All good tips! Some zip ties even have a button you can press to release them and re-use.
I like to use google street view prior to leaving to get an idea of landmarks at which critical turns should be made or to see how the road is. Then when riding, you have an idea to look for the post office, for example, to find your way, instead of having to rely on your map or computer. It also allows you to find alternative, more quiet roads, especially satellite view.

Duct Tape on the pump is a brilliant idea. I use to take and old roll of duct tape with not a lot left on it and flattened it and used that roll for years. I use Gorilla tape now as it is stickier and tougher. I have always used stuff sacks but those cubes look like a good idea and easier to find that pair of socks without having to pull everything out of the stuff sack.

If you are touring in temperature around 100F /38C duck tape can get very sticky.

Great idea with the duct-tape on the pump...I can see it serving twofold, one to carry a tape and the other, to insulate the pump cylinder when in use as it typically gets pretty warm. Along with the "just-in-case" tape, I always carry a bundle of 550 paracord. Between the bike, cargo and camp...something always seems to get some lashing.
Thanks for another great video Mike...hope all is well.

For packing clothes, I have found that in addition to what you do, I have packed them in a zip lock bag and squeezed the air out of the bag which reduces the size of the package. Result; more stuff in a small pace. Thanks Mike for great tips!

I carry a shower cap to protect my saddle.. The shower cap has elastic around the rim to hold it tight on the head as well as the bike saddle . they are made from a better grad of plastic than a shopping bag and last for years. Since COVID I have been carrying a small plastic pump bottle of alcohol based hand sanitizer. It meets my rule that everything I carry on tour must server more than one purpose. It is a fire starter, it is my hand whip after using toilet /water closet / out house.. It can also be used to sanitize a wound, If you don't mind the sting. Love the packing cubes for clothing. I carry several cubes of different sizes for other uses. In the States there is a new type of food bag that are made from silicone instead of plastics. I'm not sure if they are now available world wide. They seal tight and can be used thousands of times and come in different sizes. The best brand is called Stacher. I have some for food and one for my paper maps and one the that fits my phone.

great tips Mike, I also recommend to take some paracord on your trips, it can be used as washing line, or tie your panier in case something breaks off, or attaching something, and so on. And if you know somebody who works in a garage he can give you some disposable gloves that he use for working on the engines, these gloves usually orange colour are very strong.

I wrap DUC Tape around my Bic lighter and I also carry electrical tape. I carry Gore-Tex patches, for repairing a tent or clothing. To clean a chain, you can put it in a disposable bottle, with some gasoline and shake it.

If you don't have gloves, you can also use normal detergent (washing-up liquid) to clean your hands. If they are really dirty, you can add a little sand to the detergent.

You can use cooking oil to dissolve grease and then water.

I'm only on tip 2 and these are great! Must admit I usually just wipe my dirty hands on my shorts and am grateful my shorts are black. My hands are usually sweaty too, and that helps the grease rub off on my shorts. =D

You can also tie the tire to the rim with your parachute cord or a nylon strap. I do both duct tape and electrical tape.
