Loved this story. Love it even more that you have your fingers on the pulse of your listeners! You are spot on when you say it is you that makes this channel! It is you that we want! 100%
@@classicdetective of course, Tony. The pleasure is mine. Returning to the issue of other readers, don't give up! The collaborations are also good. And if having occasional guest readers allows you to do other things, like life, that is good. Keep curating for the right readers. Ones that match your quality and perhaps some of the essence of what you bring so that your audience does not feel jolted by the variance.
You, Tony, are a unique selling point, and a good one. It isn't that your guests aren't good; they are. They just aren't you. I don't care if you read a story set in Amerca in a British voice. Anyone who doesn't shouldn't be listening, anyway.
Another fantastic story and narration!! I come for the stories and stay for the after chatter!! My preference is you, as the narrator. I do like Matthew Jones too.
My absolute favourite so far! Thanks so much as always Mr Microphone 🎤. I enjoy your readings most. A gorgeous little story. I actually really love Margery Allingham stories. I am totally chuffed with this one. As always, your thoughts at the end make it so much more interesting and informative. 🛁🔌🕵🏼🕵🏻♀️
I really enjoyed everything about this recording. The narration is superb, a perfect pace. It's a clever short story & well written. The analysis & information at the end of the story is very interesting too. Thank you so much for sharing it, I look forward to listening to more in the future.
So, so happy there are people like you - real human people reading stories in a human way. i really do hate the robots. they have no empathy, obviously and are monotone!!!!!’ i also like your talks at the end. Thanks much. have a great day :)🌷🌱
No, you continue. You have a lovely listenable voice. Keep it up!!!!😊 the only reason that I continued listening to the narrative afterwards is because of you. So there
Brilliant…….. just wonderful …….🤗🤩🥰😍 ……… please give us some more…….. and thank you for telling us about the person Margery Allinham …. now, being 78 years old, it brings back memories of my teen age years. My parents, especially my father, loved especially the British detective stories, so I grew up with Albert Campion, Peter Wimsey, Roderick Alleyn and Hercule Poirot…… yes, I have also been puzzled by the fact we are so entertained by horrid things like in this story, the killing of three wives… in a chilling and at the same time dark humorous way… Thank you very much and best wishes from the Cape in South Africa ❤
Loved this story! Thought the twist would be that the wife would try to murder him but this was good. Maybe you could write that story. It would be hilarious. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
P.S. You are CORRECT- your listeners come to hear you. Other channel narrators that you’ve worked with have been great, but, REALLY M.A.Walker, we come for your quality production, your excellent choice of short stories by authors who are incredibly skilled at their craft, and, of course, we come for the well researched & migrating journey to the creator & the stories’ soul. (Plus, your personality is open & caring, two qualities not found much on social or main stream media.) So, thank you! 📧
I love Margery Allingham and clicked on this without knowing it was you reading! I kept thinking, “I recognise that voice from somewhere.” :) Superb. Great story and perfect narration. Thank you!
i started listening to stories, and quickly discovered some favourite narrators, Hugh Fraser, Stephen Fry and Julie Hesmondhalgh. You're right up there too, thanks for some excellent narration.
Such a marvellous reading of a very neat crime short story. It really was beautiful read, and I love Margery Allingham, who wrote very unusual crime novels.
I discovered your channel a couple of days ago and enjoyed the first story very much, but wanted to listen to a second one before deciding to subscribe. I have just done so and it makes me happy that you will continue to be the narrator. Your voice and presentation keeps my mind focused on the stories, which most readers seem to fail at. I also enjoy the added information at the end of each story. Thank you so much for sharing your time, skill, and obvious love of reading and a good story with us.
Wow thanks Tony, that was excellent. I think the reader knows from the outset that he’s going to get rumbled otherwise there’d be no story. I think it was the journey to his getting rumbled that was so enjoyable. The more we see of him the more vile he is. I wasn’t sure if Edith was dead or not, but I was surprised and ultra chuffed that she’d outsmarted him so thoroughly. Allingham used Torbay’s narcissistic scorn and prejudice against women to blindside the reader and it really works, because we tend to see her the way Torbay describes her. I liked the use of the number three and all its echoes of fairytales and folklore too - a subtle nod to fables, morality tales etc. Ronald was so horrible there was a definite feel good element to the ending - not just that “dowdy middle aged “ Edith had escaped him but had so thoroughly outmanoeuvred him when he had such a high opinion of his intelligence and abilities. Sometimes I like a dark and sorrowful, even sinister ending, but this was perfect! Thanks again!
Chilling, gripping, disturbing tale. Your voice makes the people "living" before me and enables me to "see" the potential Eydth in me. Terrifying. The other narrators are good. No doubt about that. But they are not YOU. Thank you, Tony.
Good story. I’ve tried watching the Campion TV show with Peter Davision but I just can’t get into it. I’m not sure if it’s because of the way he plays the part, but it reminds me a lot of Lord Peter Wimsey. An expat in Florida.
Had to take a break from all the house rehab, I'm so behind in all the fun stuff, so I'm having a catchup Tony weekend. I loved this. Campion was all right but so many of her other writings were just so sharp, like this one. And yes indeed, it is your voice and style I come for. I had an uncle who was quite famous on the radio, William Johnstone. I mention this only to let you you know you pass a very high bar. Uncle Bill gave me a love of good narration.
I listened to this because Allingham's name is familiar - there is a walk named after her not far from where I live, in North Essex. Though I've never read her books. Fun story, gripping narration!
Yes,yes, yes! It's your unique voice and persona that has won us all over!! World wide,Tony! Did you ever imagine when you began that you would touch thousands of lives? You can be proud of yourself with every justification.
so glad to hear you will be doing all the reading. you are so gifted and so appreciated, especially in this time when robots seem to be taking over literature. i cannot listen to them. they are dead inside. it is such a shame. so glad that you are here with a human heart.
I love these stories! Whenever I hear an audiobook read by a robot, it just misses some sort of nuance between characters, it's harder to catch subtle differences that show a joke or seriousness, and it makes a world of difference. Yes, you can understand each word, but every robotic sentence is entirely forgettable! I love the reading here on your channel, for the humanity and discussion.
Look forward to the next story! and like the rest much enjoy Tony's narration and tone of voice; reading pace and hint of Scottish accent (if I'm not mistaken?). Not to speak about after stories - they're great. Not a huge fan of American English somehow... 🤷🙂
Loved this story. Love it even more that you have your fingers on the pulse of your listeners! You are spot on when you say it is you that makes this channel! It is you that we want! 100%
I agree 100%. Love this channel. I really dislike the AI/robot stuff, I can't stand listening to it.
Thanks for listening

Yes indeed! Do enjoy your voice and interpretation most!

Most Excellent! And well narrated. Thank you, Tony. Loved the twist at the story's end. Appreciate your end waffling.
Excellent choice and wonderfully narrated . Also the after story analysis is a nice touch . Thank you for presenting this to us .
Oh, Tony! I loved, loved, loved this! My kind of story. I especially love it when the very first sentence grabs your attention as this one does. ❤❤❤❤❤

Excellent story, wonderfully read . Thank you!
Love this, love your narration it’s wonderful. “Accent” doesn’t bother this American, your diction is so soothing even at the moment of murder.
Excellent work
This story reminds me of the Bible verse, "Be sure your sins will find you out". An interesting story, well written and well performed.
Great story with a twist. Thanks!
LOVED, just LOVED this one!!!!
It’s wonderful to hear you read & then give your researched insights.🪭
This was good! He came a cropper!!
Pronunciation of Ngaio is spot on.

Very enjoyable story and analysis. It's getting harder to enjoy human narrations: you have developed a trusted brand.

You're right about the guest narrators. If I found it wasn't your voice I usually gave it a miss.
Thanks Tony. I needed this ending lol!
Delicious justice!

Love your readings.
Thank you!
Nice!
Good one - thanks
Yes please, you, your voice. Turn the AI back into tin cans for the love of humanity, my sanity and the joy of hearing your beautiful voice.
There's s reason spouses are the first suspect.
Of course it is YOU that is your channel's "unique selling point"
Look forward to the next story! and like the rest much enjoy Tony's narration and tone of voice; reading pace and hint of Scottish accent (if I'm not mistaken?). Not to speak about after stories - they're great. Not a huge fan of American English somehow... 🤷🙂

Welcome!
These are aural narcotics. They're so great, but I get so into them that I nod off and have to start over. 😊
Also highly addictive.
Sleep is good
Delicious!
