    This channel is completely underrated for the quality of content you provide. Other (lesser) UK Construction channels get far more attention from the TH-cam algorithm than you guys. I've been following VARIOUS major UK construction channels for well over 2 years, and TH-cam has only just recommended you guys to me. And you guys definitely deserve many more subscribers.
    Let me say one more thing: It's incredibly refreshing seeing such a motivated, well articulated and fired-up YOUNG crew doing such a great job. You are the kind of professionals the UK building industry needs more of. And I am incredibly happy to see the young lads coming through with such professionalism. Well done, and may you always have LOTS of work. You deserve it! :)

      Addicted to projects A&E are a fantastic team full of great,skilled lads,there are thousands of teams like this across the uk though it's just that they aren't making videos for TH-cam. Add to that the unscrupulous builders we are always hearing about and it's not a suprising that the general public takes that view tbh.
      These guys should have hundreds of thousands of subscribers though,you are right about that.

    That’s interesting. It looks like your steels didn’t work out right hence why had to cut into the foundation. It would seem you ordered the steals before you got all your site variables sorted. I usually order steels after but obviously that means you’ve got to wait.
    This is my go to channel for building knowledge advice btw.
    I’ve been building for about 20yrs now but I’m always digging for knowledge and a better/easier way of doing things.
    Cheers boys.

    Thanks for the informative video. Did the underpinning reach the adjoining neighbour's side pass the boundary? If so, did the adjoining neighbour's load also need to be supported while the works were being carried out?

  • @garethheathcote4988
    @garethheathcote4988 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It sounds like you got off lightly with the digging specs for the underpinning,we used to do a lot of subsidence work for insurance companies which usually required a minimum 2mtrs in depth and 1250mm in to the footprint of the building measured from the external face of the brickwork. These jobs were on 3&4 story houses that had been built on spread brickwork,never the less you still had a good graft to do there.

  • @rishidoshi7280

    Cool video! May I ask what that dark stuff is called underneath the pipe that holds the drainage wall in position? Also, can I ask whether if there’s requirement to encase the pipe with granular surround before pouring the concrete over it?

  • @amazing451
    @amazing451 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    At point 9.33 on the video and Tony says that any water will escape through the weepholes does that mean that the DPC bridges across the cavity as I thought it was always in 2 rolls. A separate one on the outer and inner skin of brickwork. Also is it not normal to build up to damp and lap the DPM membrane under the DPC, but it appeared as you were doing it a different way here on that back section that was built.

    Are the steels in the first 30 seconds back to back angles supporting the existing external walls?

      Stay at home son, leave the building work to the men

    • @140rware
      @140rware 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Doesn't work like that. If your were to draw 45 degree lines from each side of that pit and form a triangle. That would be less than a metre high. That means about 20 bricks could fall because the rest of the bricks and the steel above are supported by the bond and foundation of that flank wall. Only the 20 odd can fall. There is a ridiculous amount of overkill in this job (specified) the 7nm blocks shows that. The builders do a nice job but the customer will pay the extra for an arse covering exercise. No criticism of the builders themselves.

    Is that normal building procedure to lay concrete on top.of foam? I feel like thats more of a 20 year solution rather than lifetime solution, am i wrong? I'm looking to lay a interior slab and would love to insulate it that way!

    • @SteS

      You can do both. See pg4 of kingspan TF70 product for below concrete slab and below screed. Download the brochure here. www.kingspan.com/irl/en-ie/product-groups/insulation-boards/therma/thermafloor-tf70

      @@eaminslim52 no probs. 150mm (2 layers of 75mm brick bonded and staggered layers) I spec for alterations & new build and sometimes 200mm. But you can ring kingspan technical and give them the floor perimeter and floor area for them to give you the correct size.
