How to change a 12v halogen downlight bulb W metal ring . DIY

How to change a 12V down light globe in a older cir-clip / metal ring holding in globe type fitting , which is in some old houses/ buildings in Australia .If unsure at any stage , please use a licensed electrician . ALWAYS make sure the switch is turned OFF, the fitting has cooled down and proper safety precautions are taken. Never work with the Electricity on . I always thought that the 'surclip' needed to wrap around the lip of the bulb itself before being pryed back into the fitting. No wonder it always seemed like Mission Impossible! Thanks!

Lots of help. Only difference was the bulb I'm replacing was stuck in the hole and required a gentle downward tug. Thankfully I didn't force the bulb and made a mess of things☺

You have to gently press the bulb and rotate it to the right or left wichever way it allows you not much just a little bit and it will come of

If you old bulb is dead, you don't have to wait for the housing to cool down. Just turn off the switch and replace it already.

The metal ring must be below the bulb.
The metal ring is what stops the bulb from falling down.
The bulb must be put in first, then you must put in the metal ring, against the bulb, to prevent the bulb from falling out.
