i liek more the fact that you meet anybody else in the world who skates, and you can instantly connect with them and have a really interesting conversation. i think it's pretty amazing that we just have this worldwide community that understand eachother through just a simple plank of wood!
@MrLarsonfam we have to, I live in Fontana California, and Alliance Skatepark bought out our free parks and now we have to wear helmets to skate. And pay 5 dollars for a month, or 25 dollars to skate for the whole year at the park.
i think we`re different cus we have to overcome so many barriers- in society and in our own head. most people are too lazy and unable to invest so much energy into riding a skateboard just for the satisfaction and respect you get out of it.

One other thing that I have noticed about skateboarders, is that we kind of really never grow up. I'm not saying this in like a demeaning manner, but in a good way. Look at how some of the "older" dudes act, it just seems like they're just big kids still having fun through skateboarding, and still goofing off the way they would have when they were younger.

i would have to say that my #1 thing i think that makes us different from normal people is the way we see architecture. parking blocks,benches,banks all of it i love that we see something in our surroundings that no one will ever notice unless they skate (ill allow bmxers in on this too). peace onelove skatelife.
the pro skaters today are the most diverse group of professional athletes in the entire world. you won't see people like lizard king to stevie williams to patrick melcher in any other sport besides skateboarding. it's amazing how a skateboard can unify all groups of people
I would add the way we see the whole world. I'll get excited seeing some random structure and point it out to "normal" people and they don't see what we see.

Skateboarders see the world differently. For example, when a regular person sees a set of stairs, they just see a way to get from a lower place to higher place or vice versa, we see possibilities. Anything we see, we say to ourselves, "how can I skate that?"
