I would like to announce that I have locked in my first junk removal job for Thursday Superior Hauling and junk removal Lubbock Texas I have been inspired by y’all to take the leap
You just filled in the scratches, as soon as the WD40 evaporates or is washed off, you're back to fogged. As long as all you care about is selling the vehicle, then you're all set. (Speaking from personal experience). The proper way to do this is to use a polishing compound, there are plenty of companies that sell "headlight polishing kits". ALSO, if you have some paint scrapes on your car, hit them with some WD40 and a rag, and the majority of the scrapes will get cleared, as long as the clearcoat isn't fully penetrated.
i was going to say the same thing, any oil would of done that, veg oil from the kitchen, you need to buff out wear if you want it to stay gone. used car salesman trick, oh and dont forget the banana in the tail pipe trick...
Cut and polish works well. I used to with for a place where we stand t he e lens with fine wet and dry sand paper and then buff them with cut and polish and it they come up like new
I’m seeing a lot of comments where people have said it goes back to fogged. Does anyone know how long it takes to go back to fogged? Also just done this at work because I’ve got a very long drive afterwards and I’ve always been so worried about my lights as sometimes I can’t even see the lines but now I can see it so clear. Thanks!!!
Do you guys have any tips for how i should price my junk removal? Because we have to sort everything and pay for everything different prices for example, A tier wood (standard wood)(€35 per ton) B tier wood (wood with paint) (105 per ton) C tier wood (wood with oil or imprented woods) (€277 per ton) This is for everything. This also means we have to spend alot more time at the landfill to dump everything
Great Video! The reason why the lenses fog up is because these days the lenses are made of thick polycarbonate plastic. Over time when they are exposed to UV rays from the sun, the outer layers begin to break down and degrade. These changes cause the lenses to absorb blue light from the bulbs and cause a less potent, yellowish light to be emitted. The good news is it's mainly the outer surface and with a bit of cleaning or WD40 your good to go :)
Ive just done this here in the UK and it worked... Got stinky fingers and got abit giddy but my front head lights are sparkly.... Last time I used toothpaste but an Osmond car was a bit odd.... But lovin my headlights 😎
They say plastic is safer……bullcrap. I have a 89 Toyota 4x4 with glass headlights and they look brand new…..they should be sued because it is a safety issue
It's plastic and sun ruins it. That's why it gets foggy. Proper way and long term way restore it would have been calling professional detailer. Cheaper option would have been doing it by yourself with some type of headlight restoration kit ( like from Sylvania) Restoring with DW40 is super short term thing ... like what scammer dealership would do lol 😂 and when it rains you will find out what happened
Total Bull shit 💩? U have to sand the clear coat off of the headlights and then polish them and then put the clear coat back on and it looks and lasts forever! My local body shop does it for $160 and it doesn’t come back! Totally worth it!
Really? Least didn't have to clean the inside of the headlights!! #strewth......utter waste of time as pointless & hasn't solved the problem, just masked it for the next owner!!
Bug spray that contains DEET melts polymers so don’t use that stuff. Use backing soda & vinegar/tooth paste, lemon juice (fresh lemon that is) & salt, chrome polish…products that have fine abrasives as mentioned. Or just spend the money for a purpose made commercially produced product from your local auto store or Wally World, etc. HOWEVER, after the oxidation is removed & your lenses are clear again, make sure to make sure to apply a protectant like RainX or a clear wax type product to cover the plastic. You’re always going to have issues with UV, dirt & sand or other contaminates that are going to damage the lenses just like you will have with everyday wear & tear especially on your hood & front quarter panels & A-pillars, depending on your areas climate coupled with everyday use. The process will have to be conducted every so often. Unavoidable maintenance the longer you own the vehicle. HTH YMMV. S/F & stay safe & well.

Way to go. Moisture get glass lights. Plastic ones turn from the sun light.
Awesome good luck to you
Dang!! I'm shocked and amazed how good that worked!

I would do it the day the buyer will say I’m coming over then run out and do it again.
B cause it will go back to foggy.
Jo Jo is it still clean. Check you Husband car let us all know
polishing doesnt work that well or didnt for me. I think you have to use a 600 or higher grit sandpaper, then polish then spray the protectant on.
It’s caused by moisture baked on by the sun and it builds up and I have used WD40 and it worked but here in wast Texas it attracts dirt

I did this to my wife's Camry and six months later they still look clear !
Off bug spray works better with DEET
The deet will burn them
DEET melts plastic or polymer just FYI.

It didn’t last long just a couple of days It’s good for a quick fix
On rehabbing cars, I found out that sanding the lights with t1000 then spraying it with a clear coat; turn the lights brand new
Thanks for sharing
So how long did this last for you??
This was a short term fix, it looked great! But didn’t last long a couple days
How long did it last? more than a week?
About a week or so
the plastic has a UV coating to protect it from the sun, but that coating breaks down over time and that is what makes it look foggy.
Thanks for sharing
They look like that because the last person that had it used wd40 and removed the protective film and never replaced it. lol.

This is for sure a harder situation, not really sure how we would price it. I would find creative ways to separate it as your loading it.
But how long will it last?
It looks good for awhile but the results are not permanent
How much Matt?!
how long is it gonna stay clear?Thats the majic question.
About an hour until it evaporates
Awww, why are you selling the pickup? I'm never selling my Chevy!
We are going to need a tax write off so we are getting a new one

First time it rains back to cloud
Yes, it is temporary
I just did it to mine. It came back to what it was a hour later.
It’s the sun salt tailpipe exhaust Etc.
I believe I will buy replacements.
Thanks for sharing
Didn't have that problem with glass
Thanks for sharing
U got a follow for that r129
Problem is this is very temporary
Yes it is temporary
They say plastic is safer……bullcrap. I have a 89 Toyota 4x4 with glass headlights and they look brand new…..they should be sued because it is a safety issue
Ok, but how long do they stay clear for before they are foggy again?
They do turn foggy again after a little while, this is temporary
this is the equivalent of licking oxidized paint and saying 'voila!' dark again! then it evaporates..
Wd -40 it worked. I just didn’t mind headlights.
gonna try today I'll get back to ya! Lol
💪

Just get big spray
💪
not the correct way at all. needs to be fully wet sanded. and then clear coated with headlight clear, or 2k clear.
This was a fast fix it’s for sure not the permanent solution
Hate to read only temporary. Oh well. Gonna buy a kit to do it. Something that lasts.

It'll be foggy again in a week
Yep
