started watching your videos today because I'm starting a plumbing course Monday, you're brilliant! Keep up the videos haha! "go on, eat ya dinner" love it!
Picked up loads of tips from your videos, cheers! Struggled with ptfe tape time and time again, that loctite 55 is the nuts and I now get a good seal first time every time! Nice one!
Great video! I put one of these on a dot'n'dab hollow wall - had to recess wooden blocks to bridge gap between plasterboard surface and bricks behind. Used long "bolt head" screws through the wooden blocks into the brick. Job done!!...these radiators are just really really heavy. Bo' Selecta!
i've never installed a collum rad, thank you for showing us, same principles as a panel rad. Not the most effecient rad but they do seem more classy. Im sure you could double the efficiency by stuffing wire wool between the collumns, not sure if they'd look as great though. Cute cat!
Hi...i fitted a double aluminum tower rad. In my bathroom. Like you was concerned about the weight. The internal wall is breezblock. So, made up a box for the rad to sit on. It hangs on the top brackets, rests on box which takes the weight. There is one bracket in the middle of the rad. at the bottom, which stops any vert/horiz. movement. Holes are drilled at the back of the box for vent. Box then covered in carpet. Looks good.
Do these vert rads all need flow diverters fitted, as we've got all verts & I'm wondering if this is why we aren't getting all rads hit aswell as semi hot.
I watch your videos all the time I have learnt a lot of things from you thank you very much only one thing I couldn’t understand the pipe bend to the radiator you could a go straight from the ground because you already lifted the floor
Nat Thomas just watched your how to hang a column rad. MINT! just as all of your vids I've watched are. Because I am a rookie plumber I like to watch the piping bit in real time. the soldering, bending and measuring. could you include this in future vids please? a suggestion could be notching. Hi, can I ask you a quick question? I did install three new vertical radiators downstairs. Two of them take ages to get warm (one in the kitchen and the other in the sitting room, it is mid terrace house). What advice you can suggest?
Can these shape radiators be hung the opposite way up, say with the inlet and outlet coming in from the top I ask as I tend to have one and the pipes come from above, so would I have to run the pipes down to come in the bottom of the radiator?!!!
Great video. Most of these column radiators have inlet and outlets. My inlet and outlet stickers have been pulled off by my 2 year old. Any ideas if you can look inside to differentiate?
In the end you didn't use the pipe with the trv you had to cut it out, what happened was that because the pipe needed a slight off set in the end. I fit 3 of them a few weeks ago it's always a pain matching upto existing pipes. Nice job as usual
Would have been good to get a close up on how you got the bends on the pipe once you got them below the floor. Love your vids bro and love the look of column radiators as well, but not great on BTU's for their size.
We had two of this type fitted in a new extension, he worked out the BTUs,s but they are basically crap. They take far too long to heat up.and even when they are hot the room is just not hot enough, Question one is there a top and bottom ,and somebody mentioned to me about a gate thats just inside the rad valve entry point that has to be opened before installation ,allowing the water to flow to the top of the first section then slowly drop down to all the sections ,any comment would be handy ,personally i wany to take one of them out and replace it with a conventional rad ,but wifey is not happy because it means a pipe showing on the skirting because the new floor covering would be a nightmare to lift,.
Hi buddy, i want to tap off from a hallway radiator into a bathroom radiator-sort of a leg- just flowing around the bathroom rad back into the F and R for the hallway rad. Is this as simple as it sounds and do i need to plumb it in any particular way (given that TRVs are bi-directional)? thanks..
Hi, I installed a column radiator of the same brand a few days ago. What i saw is that the bottom was hot just after starting the system but 40min later the top was still cold. I am considering running the hot pipe all the way to the top port to have the feed the furthest away possible from the outlet. Its kind of a problem as i already did the holes on the wall and an exterior pipe at eyes heigh will not look good (specially with the big thermostatic valve there at the top) but otherwise it looks absolutely inneficient. Have u not had this problem?
How do you move the pipes if they are built in the wall I need to get a smaller radiator but dont know how to move the pipe work with it being in the wall Thanks
I'm hanging my first column rad in the next couple of weeks. I've taken the old rads off, no issue. I was hoping to just connect them to the existing pipework though, after fitting new TRV's and some telescopic radiator tails? I'm no plumber so was hoping to avoid altering pipework. I notice you ended up having to alter the pipe to the right hand side of this rad though?
I have one of these radiators fitted recently in my identify plan kitchen everytime I open my sink in bathroom downstairs and slide it a few seconds later if u go next to the radiator it makes a bubbles water noise fir a few seconds. This is the same if I open and close my sink in kitchen. I've had a new boiler installed a week ago. Anyone know what cud be the reason if of my issue and a solution please.
I've just put one of these in but I have muddled up the flow and return, so the pipe that gets hot first is going into the return side. When on the rad makes a trickling noise and dosent work properly, will this be sorted if I flip the pipes. Cheers.
@@tdgg3164 I had this Monday. Hung 4 new radiators. all the same just different sizes. Two had a inlet and outlet sticker on them, the other two didn't. one of the ones that didn't just would not get hot. I kept bleeding it and raising the pressure and balancing the others, then eventually after about 25mins of this it started to get hot. Really strange! Worked in the end but I was thinking maybe this was also directional even though there was no stickers on it.
Hi James love your videos, I'm sure I've seen one where you replaced a rad with a plumbed towel rail using the existing valves/pipework - but cannot find it - is it still available? Really looking for help in measuring up using the 90 degree dual fuel elbows and how this will effect the height in relation tothe brackets to hold the towel rail on the wall?

Hi mate could you possibly do a video in more detail of how u measured up for the offset bends you did in this video as I'm trying to get to grips with working out measurements when bending pipe! Cheers mate
Great if you can lift the floorboards, what if you have another wood flooring on the top of the boards so you can't lift? Is there any other way to shift the pipes? I think I know the answer... :/
alright mate, I have a problem, I am installing all my radiators myself but I am having the pipes come out the wall. the problem is I am using chrome piping but I am struggling to tighten the pipes without the pipe kinking ever so slightly just after the nut and they keep leaking when I pressure test as well. is there a special sequence/trick to tightening the pipes without twisting the pipe?
When hanging the radiator do you need to pitch it slightly towards the feed pipe so it will run back into the pipe when cooled so you won't get air in the pipe causing noise? Thanks, Ray

Hi. Why did you put those little L bends in the pipes, is that just for aesthetics?
Hi, can I ask you a quick question? I did install three new vertical radiators downstairs. Two of them take ages to get warm (one in the kitchen and the other in the sitting room, it is mid terrace house). What advice you can suggest?
Probably a bit late now but you need something called a 'flow diverter' which forces water to the top of the rad.
Can these shape radiators be hung the opposite way up, say with the inlet and outlet coming in from the top
