Easy solution would be to apply the permanent health debuff you get when you get hit by the Black Knife attack/Maliketh's Black Blade for the duration of the buff. Make it stack for both weapons so you have to be a literal one-hit glass cannon if you can't dodge.

I believe buffing is completely acceptable in duels. But if your buff has downsides, you deal with the downsides. Using a flask to heal after seppuku is no different than using a flask to heal after being hit.

Or just adjusting the effects in pvp, like they do for golden vow or rallying standard in pvp ( damage increase down to 2.5%) Potentially adding 118 bleed per weapon plus whatever inherent bleed is present with arcane pumped up isn't exactly balanced when a powerstanced hit essentially auto-bleeds you.
The funny part is when they accidentally use the wrong hand to buff the first weapon so they just go oops... Then they heal and repeat the entire process again and then heal again and they expect you to just wait there and stare at them for 5 minutes while you know they setup an one shot
How many buffs is too many? Serious question. I generally don’t have problem with two to three, but after that I’ll start to get impatient. This might be a bit of a hot take, but I feel if you need like five buffs for your build to be viable than either it sucks or you do.
The rule I had when doing duels was: one weapon buff and one other from another category. Anything beyond that feels as if I'm wasting the total duration and FP to use Ash of Wars.
after playing pvp in ds2, ds3, and elden ring for me the limit was 2, doesn't matter what 2 just 2. After two buffs you're gonna need to find a spot to buff mid fight. Obv in an invasion do w/e u want but. Or you know... law of regression and watch them sever
It does, my friend uses it whenever we get invaded and a dual is happening. This is only because seppuku is stupid and anyone who uses it is actually inept at pvp in our book, something that seems to be correct as they do pitiful damage without seppuku.
On the subject of healing, my buddies and I are running through the game with the “Seamless Co-op” mod and we’ve severely restricted ourselves when it comes to healing. We cannot upgrade our flasks in any way and we can only use Blue Flasks. The only heal you’re allowed to have is if you slap healing on your Physik, use a consumable item, or have a healing spell. So far, it’s been an amazing run. We’re forcing ourselves to be more careful and it makes every boss fight worth the effort. It lets us really diversify our roles in a group. I’m running a build I’ve never tried before (STR/INT) and so far I’m having fun. I’d strongly recommend it for anyone looking for more challenges. I’ve been considering adding more restrictions to our run, we’ve already more-or-less outlawed pure bleed builds because they take no skill and minimal effort.

I've treated buffs the same way since DS2 PvP, once they have buffed ONCE then the fight has started, screw letting them buff multiple times if I'm not doing that myself, once one beneficial action has been made the fight has started, every buff you use after the first is essentially an attack due to the added damage gained on a successful hit. Thoroughly love eviscerating people that have just used Golden Vow and are intending on using FGMS and a weapon buff.
I am of the group that believes you get two buffs. Doesn't matter what they are, You get to synergize your stuff, Without going overboard. Also, Everyone gets a flask at the start, No matter what's in it.

If they use one buff, I let them, if they use two, I use law of regression during the casting so they lose both. Stick with one or lose them all is how I do it.

arcane/faith build with the albinauric staff. it scales arcane and will in turn increase bleed dealt. it's a shame Thorn sorcery damage isnt worth the health they take
When i see someone using Varre mask, dual Naginata or dual frost lance...its instant aggro for me because you know its Just someone trying a cheap victory...
I have a character with a very similar set up, just to try it out myself. Honestly, I kinda hate it, but it's also stupid strong and has made getting more weapons for alts pretty fast and easy. That said, I NEVER heal during duels. Rules are rules. Also, back turned, no greeting, dude was just an asshole to begin with.

Honestly my thoughts bro. Ridiculous how status is MORE POWERFUL THAN THE WEAPON ITSELF. Not just that, its unavoidable with latency cos of the classic fromsoft dogshit netcode so now you have something thats impossible to dodge and does an unfair amount of damage AND it takes you out of a roll. Straight up loses you the fight if its madness, tho bleed and sleep are cancerous as well. Status should be slaughtered for pvp tbh, and bleed should be heavily nerfed for pve as well if they want it to have any semblance of difficulty

i used to use double seppuku on 2 nagakibas in duels until i switched my bleed build for a madness build. i feel guilty for healing back the damage now since i thought we were allowed to heal before the fight actually started
I just leave when I see Rivers of Blood, Fingerprint Greatshield, anything with seppukku or moonveil mages using azurs staff as that almost always means that they're stars of ruin spammers
i'm currently not playing for the lack of time, i have been playing a lot of pvp with my first char and always tried to make duels, i respect the no healing condition but i literally instantly heal whenever my opponent does it the first time, since they show me they are not fair dueling neither am i anymore with them.
If you're not the host, don't even try to drink duel, they have twice your flasks, either rush him down, or just use the severe finger thing to go away, don't waste your time with trash
When I see one of these guys I normally just let them do their thing and parry their first running attack for the one shot. I'm not a party king by any means but all of these blood curved sword players play the exact same way so it's really easy to predict. I'd like to think it makes them pretty mad too getting all their buffs ready only to die in one hit at the very beginning of the fight like they were trying to do to me.
I would rather that only happens in PVP and not in the rest of the game. More easygoing players shouldn’t have to suffer just because the PVP is unbalanced
It will not be nerfed, and there’s a game design reason for it. Bleed is supposed to be easy to get into and pick up, but if you watch the best meta players, none of the then use bleed. It’s actually intended for newer players to make stronger builds because later they will transition into trying and experimenting with other things
imo any duel should be considered as started as soon as someone uses something that affects the fight. So even after 1 buff, the opponent should have the right of starting to hit you.

the near-death health protection was worse in demons souls, healing you to 1/2 hp on taking a lethal hit, and was a part of the Meta in ds3 as tears of denial. for better or worse it's part of the game, do whatcha gotta do
I use it myself and has saved me a ton. The thing is, its not like tears of denial from DS3 since the crimsonwhorl bubble tear heal itself is risky to pull off to begin with. Its not always a guaranteed heal
If healing is a need for something to work, then maybe you shouldn’t risk using it in a duel. I always either fight after bow or attack the moment I see a buff. Anything goes after the bow and that’s how it should be. Don’t buff before the duel unless you want to get punished.
I've seen some people do as they do one or two bufs pre duel, then you both drink your physiks then any additional bufs you have to find openings to apply, so that way no ones time is being wasted and it makes setting up one shots more satisfying since you actually had to put in effort to do it
I have simple rule in duels if i get summoned and i see white mask with raptors and rob or curved sword i instantly throw dung pot on them and send myself home same goes for trillion buffs and blood hound step. Not that its that hard to counter them besides most of them can be with few talismans and gear swaps i just became equivalent of antivaxxer Karen to bleed builds. Haven’t had a duel against bleed build since 1.04 pach

I use moonvail but I limit my self to 2 r2 and 3 r1 I actually use it normal attack more then anything else and I use the lil katana and go for parys more moonvail. I just like moonvail but don’t wanna be toxic
You don’t have to limit yourself. Moonveil is actually pretty balanced in 1v1. If you throw it out randomly it’s able to be reacted to, but if you catch me with it that’s my fault

Using LoR is perfectly acceptable whether the fight has started or not imo, and I don't have a build that uses it. If you're allowed to buff before fight starts, they're allowed to debuff you before the fight starts.

I have a character with a very similar set up, just to try it out myself. Honestly, I kinda hate it, but it's also stupid strong and has made getting more weapons for alts pretty fast and easy. That said, I NEVER heal during duels. Rules are rules.
Also, back turned, no greeting, dude was just an asshole to begin with.
The people who use these kinds of builds don't care if anyone else has fun they just want to one shot and feel like they're good at the game.
@@nut4663 Ya. Or they are trying out the build and quickly learn (as I did) that the restrictions imposed by the build make it absolutely no fun to play. I only still have the character so I can give some of its gear back to a friend. Otherwise, they'd be deleted.
@@theminusziskey9175 whenever i see these builds its in groups ganking at low levels, its one person in three that take over a zone for hours killing solo invaders, often even see them turn the tongue off when i arrive to prevent me getting help.

Honestly my thoughts bro. Ridiculous how status is MORE POWERFUL THAN THE WEAPON ITSELF. Not just that, its unavoidable with latency cos of the classic fromsoft dogshit netcode so now you have something thats impossible to dodge and does an unfair amount of damage AND it takes you out of a roll. Straight up loses you the fight if its madness, tho bleed and sleep are cancerous as well. Status should be slaughtered for pvp tbh, and bleed should be heavily nerfed for pve as well if they want it to have any semblance of difficulty

i used to use double seppuku on 2 nagakibas in duels until i switched my bleed build for a madness build. i feel guilty for healing back the damage now since i thought we were allowed to heal before the fight actually started

i'm currently not playing for the lack of time, i have been playing a lot of pvp with my first char and always tried to make duels, i respect the no healing condition but i literally instantly heal whenever my opponent does it the first time, since they show me they are not fair dueling neither am i anymore with them.
If you're not the host, don't even try to drink duel, they have twice your flasks, either rush him down, or just use the severe finger thing to go away, don't waste your time with trash

Its so funny letting them put on like 8 buffs and then just killing them in one or two hits with only royal knights resolve or something
When I see one of these guys I normally just let them do their thing and parry their first running attack for the one shot. I'm not a party king by any means but all of these blood curved sword players play the exact same way so it's really easy to predict. I'd like to think it makes them pretty mad too getting all their buffs ready only to die in one hit at the very beginning of the fight like they were trying to do to me.

I would rather that only happens in PVP and not in the rest of the game. More easygoing players shouldn’t have to suffer just because the PVP is unbalanced
It will not be nerfed, and there’s a game design reason for it. Bleed is supposed to be easy to get into and pick up, but if you watch the best meta players, none of the then use bleed.
It’s actually intended for newer players to make stronger builds because later they will transition into trying and experimenting with other things

imo any duel should be considered as started as soon as someone uses something that affects the fight. So even after 1 buff, the opponent should have the right of starting to hit you.
Then you’re weak cuz I like watching people throw back 5 buffs and just watch and end up beating them to death with 12 vigor and 0 buffs

If I’m fighting someone who’s physic auto heals them when they get low, I drink a flask.
In my opinion, the crimson bubbletear is acceptable since it has a timer and usually people drink it before the fight. Now, if someone uses a healing physic mid fight, that's when I heal
the near-death health protection was worse in demons souls, healing you to 1/2 hp on taking a lethal hit, and was a part of the Meta in ds3 as tears of denial. for better or worse it's part of the game, do whatcha gotta do

I use it myself and has saved me a ton. The thing is, its not like tears of denial from DS3 since the crimsonwhorl bubble tear heal itself is risky to pull off to begin with. Its not always a guaranteed heal
giving up your personal buff juice to heal off seppuku is a bit more valid, but also you still gonna get hit
If healing is a need for something to work, then maybe you shouldn’t risk using it in a duel.
I always either fight after bow or attack the moment I see a buff. Anything goes after the bow and that’s how it should be. Don’t buff before the duel unless you want to get punished.
I've seen some people do as they do one or two bufs pre duel, then you both drink your physiks then any additional bufs you have to find openings to apply, so that way no ones time is being wasted and it makes setting up one shots more satisfying since you actually had to put in effort to do it
I have simple rule in duels if i get summoned and i see white mask with raptors and rob or curved sword i instantly throw dung pot on them and send myself home same goes for trillion buffs and blood hound step.
Not that its that hard to counter them besides most of them can be with few talismans and gear swaps i just became equivalent of antivaxxer Karen to bleed builds. Haven’t had a duel against bleed build since 1.04 pach

I use moonvail but I limit my self to 2 r2 and 3 r1 I actually use it normal attack more then anything else and I use the lil katana and go for parys more moonvail. I just like moonvail but don’t wanna be toxic
You don’t have to limit yourself. Moonveil is actually pretty balanced in 1v1. If you throw it out randomly it’s able to be reacted to, but if you catch me with it that’s my fault

@@95v85 moonveil is easy to dodge if you have good connection, but in the hands of a patient player it destroys. It can easily be countered but very risky to go against, I'd say its pretty balanced and I'm fine when I duel against it.

The greathammer on its own is pretty fast! The only downside is the range, but as someone that mains fist weapons I see no problems here

Using LoR is perfectly acceptable whether the fight has started or not imo, and I don't have a build that uses it. If you're allowed to buff before fight starts, they're allowed to debuff you before the fight starts.
