    I really want an Axon, but I got very lucky and scored a Yeager M. I got the KnifeJoy exclusive in Damasteel. Love it, carry it every day. Paid the KnifeJoy price, which wasn’t bad, considering the Damasteel. Worth every penny.

    Love the shoutout! :) those clips really detract from the Vero's. The knives are well made, the designs are good, they're fun knives! But those clips.....

    I’ve got a knifejoy pvd Yeager and a frame lock axon. For me the axon wins in ergos but I have big meaty claws lol. Their both keepers for me personally especially where you can’t get either currently

    • @beardedgear

      I imagine it’ll feel somewhat different, this axon felt different to me than the framelock models from Vero.

    • @beardedgear

      They’re just different haha, the axon has been my favorite Vero so far so I guess I prefer the liner lock, but the framelocks do feel more expensive to me.

    That’s crazy that the bottom has fell out the price of these knives(secondary). The vero axon you can get right now on secondary 275.

    I would really be `hard pressed’ to pick a winner between these knives. A clip `facelift’ on the Axon would make this a dead tie between the two and, as stated I really couldn’t pick a winner. The inlay on the Yeager is really nice and that sets it apart from the Axon but, that’s why I’d like to own the pair 😄 great vid Jake, thanks

    Good showdown. The one area I disagree is the carry. Ughhh the Yeager clip is so bad on actual carry. Nearly ruins it. The axon clip is not the best but it’s fine and slides in and out for me. Ultimately the lower starting price for the Axon (when available regularly) is also a win for it. Otherwise, I love the Yeager more for the reasons you cite. Although I like the lines and design of the axon more than the slightly odd swoop on the back of the Yeager (which doesn’t affect the functioning or anything whatsoever).

    Great review. Cant quibble with anything said. This might finally be the start of the vero bubble bursting (which, come on, was bound to happen soon).

  • @kevinwells6760
    @kevinwells6760 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Jake! Always love your videos, and I agree with your reasoning and conclusion here each step of the way. Both great knives, no real need for both, and the Yeager wins out.
    And I know, I know, I know -- suuuuuuper pedantic, I'm sorry 🙄 -- but you have "Wharncliffe" and "sheepsfoot" backward. Like at 8:35, you said the Axon (which has a gently downward-sloping spine and a sloped front) was "more sheepsfoot-y" and the Yeager (which has a straight, almost-parallel spine and a steeper decline) "more Wharncliffe-y", and it's actually the exact opposite. Neither is a "true" Wharncliffe, of course, as those don't have any transition point at all and just follow a single taper from base to tip.
    There's a pretty solid blog post on the history of the Wharncliffe and what makes the different shapes different over at Knife Depot: blog.knife-depot.com/history-of-the-wharncliffe-blade/. (Their entire blog seems to have _just_ gone down recently, so here's google's cache: webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:Xi691VC1mf8J:blog.knife-depot.com/history-of-the-wharncliffe-blade/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us)
    Anyway, thanks for another great side-by-side, and apologies again for being obnoxious. 😂

    Great videos very well done - But-Whomever told you that's a self defense knife would be playing a practical joke on you. That in no way is a factual statement- in fact just the opposite- that being said most who teach self defense would highly encourage you never to use a knife . Learn some self defense - BJJ - some wrestling, kickboxing MMA. You very quickly realize a knife is not a healthy option for self defense. But just got the BBY looking forward to getting it. just sold Vero.

    • @kennethhelm6341
      @kennethhelm6341 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry but your wrong. He was correct in saying it's a good self defense blade, that's actually how the spyderco yojimbo got created by personal-defense trainer Michael Janich, he was researching the perfect self defense blade shape and learned through his testing the slices with a wharncliffe shaped knife were deeper and more effective. There's alot more but do your research please people read comments like yours and take it as fact and thats how the wrong information gets spread.

      @@kennethhelm6341 15 years training military and police -hand to hand combat in personal experience is where I’m coming from - your experience ? Maybe there’s somebody out there that used this as self defense but unlikely? - but knives are a horrible self defense option no matter what the shape or maker-personally what manufactures claim to be self defense designs and what are actually- are of zero interest to me- - we can agree to disagree -

    Great review. But as one who owns both, the quality, aesthetics and beauty of a Vero End Cut Carbon fiber Axon is simply superior to the Yeager. You viewers go online and examine both, various photos. Trust your instincts. You’ll see.

      Oh, dude you’re so right on the Koenig Arius. Thing is incredible. Wow. So here’s my issue. I live in Manhattan and Hamptons. Laws are crazy here. For myriad reasons I need to carry a knife that appears to be a “gentleman’s” knife. My Medford slim midi, Inkosi CRK, Vero axon and synapse, Liong mah gsd bling and tuxedo, EDC f5.5 brown micarta, Liong mah black micarta lanny, all fit that Bill. The Koenig kinda has a Strider-esque tactical look to it. But absolutely would love to own it. But as you said in your review, you love to EDC your favorite knives. Me too.
