    I love the presentation against a dark backdrop. It’s really spectacular to experience in video format, I’m sure in person it’s much more so. On my bucket list, thank you Bliss! Great stuff! Her job must be so fulfilling!

    I was lucky enough to see this exhibition and the permanent collection in person as well before the MoMu closed down for repairs again! Was especially happy because when I was in Antwerp in 2019 of course the MoMu was already closed for renovations! It was INSANE being surrounded by so much GREATNESS created by my all time favourites. Sweet interview Bliss; super cool to hear a bit about Kaat Debo's background, process and perspective!

    Loved the man in the display box! What a great idea and would definitely stop me in my tracks. Seeing real time models in a museum would make me stop and look with heightened interest for sure. Looking would evolve into interaction and deeper thought for me although I think I might be slightly uncomfortable studying a live person! Apologies if I got something wrong here bliss.
    Your outfit was beautiful too btw. Your taste is singular and very hard to pin down. I love seeing what you have on in every vid!

    The curation process is extreme fascinating, and this is a big concern for me with my own work. I love the living mannequins/performance display. That is a brilliant idea, and you are right, it is almost jarring seeing the living person in the display case. Even though I work with mannequins and dress forms, I have always preferred working with live models for draping and fitting.

    • @andreja9425
      @andreja9425 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      may i ask how you accurately drape on living people without accidentally poking them with all the pins etc?

    • @astrogallus
      @astrogallus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andreja9425 - Generally by using clips instead of pins, or basting instead of pinning. I use both techniques, depending on the circumstance. My grandmother used clothespins and basting for fitting and draping on her clients to protect them from being stabbed by the pins, so it is a way of thinking about the subject that I grew up around.

    • @astrogallus
      @astrogallus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andreja9425 Also wanted to add, there is a video on the 'Fashion &...' TH-cam channel about Halston (it is one of the two most recent ones), where Halston's former Model Chris Royer mentions that Halston did most of his draping directly on the model. There are two of those videos, and I don't remember which one that mention was in, but both are well worth watching!

    • @andreja9425
      @andreja9425 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Astro Gallus thanks for sharing for real, I’ll have to check those out. The basting is an excellent idea, I was wondering if you used clips but i feared that would give somewhat inaccurate fit, though I guess it really works! I’ll definitely have to try it sometime cuz I don’t have a dressform rn

    • @astrogallus
      @astrogallus 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andreja9425 You're welcome! The clips can give inaccurate fit if you aren't paying attention or being careful. I like to use the clips for less complex draping or on more complex garments for holding seams, and I always drape my seams on the outside while draping, though they will be on the inside (except for deconstructionist items) when finished. I use basting for more complex draping, where the clips would cause problems. I rarely drape anything that doesn't have some clips and some basting, but some garments may have more of one than the other. Just experiment and you will get the hang of it. It is a super valuable set of techniques to learn because once you get proficient, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities and means you can drape anywhere, in most any situation.

    cool to see the model in the glass case but isn't body chemistry problematic for museum pieces...

    • @mimipeahes5848
      @mimipeahes5848 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be (skin oils being the main offender). I suppose that’s another factor to consider during curation.
