    Two larger Masons are available, models 240 and 300, with an inner diameter that's wider by, I think, 1.6 inches (40mm). As I recall, their shackles are five- or six-sided, not three. Unlike the 140 and 180, the 240 and 300 are available only from Seatylock's website. I bought the 300 today.

      Good choice! What made you opt for the larger internal diameter?

      @@bikelockwiki I'm hoping that it will be large enough that I won't need to carry an equally heavy (3.9-pound) 2-foot Schlage 12mm "noose" chain. My wheeks are bolted. I'm willing to risk losing one wheel in excha8nge for that convenience.

      @StuMarston My 300 shackle did NOT fit through the linksbof myKG Heavyuty cgain with "3/8" links. had to return the chain. I actually got the 300 so that I would have the freedom to lock up my bike without a chain. I'm willing to risk the liss of a bolted on Wheel of my three-speed Cruiser. Or I'll secure thecwheel with my 1.9-pound chain.

      Better to look for a different lock then, check out the Litelok X1 or Hiplok D1000

    So can it survive intact from anbolt cutter attack

    • @bikelockwiki
      @bikelockwiki  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I used a 36" pair of brand new bolt cutters and it was extremely difficult to keep the shackle in the jaws, let alone cut or damage the shackle. Bear in mind that most thieves won't carry 36" cutters as they're over a meter long and nearly impossible to conceal.

    How does it fair against angle grinders?

    • @bikelockwiki
      @bikelockwiki  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Locks without anti-grinder protection typically take between 15-30 seconds to cut once, this lock requires two cuts to open the shackle.

    How good is it against car jack and angle grinder?

    • @bikelockwiki
      @bikelockwiki  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Reinforced locking mechanism for jacks and angle grinder this would take around 12-20 seconds to cut per side depending on the way the bike is locked.
      Remember that this lock would require two cuts to be made before a bike could be removed from the shackle though :)

    For a typical hardtail mountain bike, is the 140 long enough, or should I look to the 180?

    • @bikelockwiki
      @bikelockwiki  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question.
      Ultimately, this depends on what you lock your bike to and how you'd normally lock it.
      Using the Sheldon Brown locking method, you shouldn't have any issues with the 140.
      But with the 140, you're only able to secure one bike, where as the 180 offers enough room to secure two.

    disc cutter proof though...!!!!

    • @bikelockwiki
      @bikelockwiki  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Nope, the Mason isn't disc cutter proof! If you're looking for a disc cutter proof lock, check out the LITELOK X series or the Hiplok D1000

      @@bikelockwikinothing is angle grinder proof, not even the ones you mention (although they make it difficult enough for thieves not to bother), but how does the mason compare? If it takes 15 min to get through the litelok, how quick is the mason?

    • @bikelockwiki
      @bikelockwiki  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@davidcarrico3385 No, nothing is grinder proof. The mason would take around 20-30 seconds to cut compared to many minutes and grinder discs for the LITELOK.

    When you perform those bolt cutter and leverage tests in the field, does anyone notice and question you?

    • @bikelockwiki
      @bikelockwiki  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great question! To be totally honest, most people just walk on past, I'll have multiple cameras setup around me and normally someone else to assist with the filming, which does make it look much less suspicious.
      That being said, whilst shooting this video a woman stopped to ask me what I was doing and if it was my lock that I was cutting.
