    My local polaris dealer told me I can't adjust or shim my primary clutch after getting this polaris 2years ago that has a different primary clutch I have been trying to get a belt for. 5 returns on belts because to small or wide grabbing on the primary. Watched another vid b4 yours, he took spider half apart ,slipped in a shim he didn't even show and had his vid listed how to shim primary. Your vid was in great detail! Thank you! I subscribed. Very helpful thank you for all your time posting vids that help so many of us out there. Cheers

    These videos are awesome. Makes me more confident in making changes myself. If it is possible an improvement would be to actually show us the differences between the brands instead of just explaining the differences that way it doesn't get lost in translation for us beginners :) but as I said awesome videos

    It's too bad that not one video exists on the entire internet of how to use an alignment tool.

    I'm not getting the belt to climb to top of primary. What do I change to get belt to rise to top of shieve. Lighter weights?

    A question about balance -- will you affect the factory balance by adding or removing shims as you now have moved the stationary position to a different location relative to the movable sheive . P.S. should have given a little speil about shimming the buttons and which side to put the shims in . but otherwise a good instructional vid .

      no. the shims have very little effect due to them being close to the middle of the centroid of rotating mass.

      What marpip01 is referring to is indexing the pieces to the fixed sheave. If you pull shims then the spider will spin on further and will now be out of position(along with the movable sheave and the cover) with respect to the fixed sheave. That will affect balance. Polaris used to show in the race manual how to index the spider to compensate, but now days with the ability to have SLP or another shop balance the clutch it is a great idea to set the belt sheave clearance assemble with the Xs (Polaris) lined up and have the clutch balanced. $50 is good insurance against clutch damage.

    I tried removing the spider nut and tried every single way of taking it off and it's not budging at all ! I think it's welded there or something... I give up... :(

    2:49 Is that 0.25 - 0.5mm? Sorry but I don't know all of this ancient
    units of measurement America still uses ...

    • @LoveMySRT
      @LoveMySRT 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      0.010 inch and 0.20 inch

    • @Snurre86
      @Snurre86 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      LoveMySRT I think you mean 0.01 inch - 0.02 inch which is 0.254mm - 0.508mm in the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metric_system. But thanks for your reply, just look at the map in the link and think about who the global hegemony is then you get my frustration.

      well actually that would be one tenth and 2 tenths.. he said 10 thou and 20 thou
      thought you wanted an answer not a reason to try to prove somebody wrong.. sorry for answering your question..

    • @LoveMySRT
      @LoveMySRT 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      which is the same thing but not the measurement that was used

    • @Snurre86
      @Snurre86 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      LoveMySRT That explains thou (thousandth of an inch), that does not change that fact that I have to go look up what this ancient units of measurement is in the modern times. And yes a confirmation that my conversion to the modern times is right is appreciated without a need to prove that you or someone is wrong.
