I really admire devs who go the absolute distance with diegetic HUD and inventory. This game in particularly has what I can only assume is game dev wizardry with its inventory system.
This is something i deeply love about the Dead Space series, the fact that technically, you dont have a HUD. Its the information the character you're using that its given to you at the same time that tells you your current status.
There was another horror game on this channel a while back, I think it was about exploring Giant Alien structures. I thought the game looked amazing, but it would have been perfect with a diegetic HUD and inventory like this game. It is so much more immersive IMO
Its not all that complex really, its just a simple prop that is held offscreen behind the camera. Pressing the button to open the inventory simply moves tells it to rotate along an axis until it appears in front of the camera.
@@bahamutdragon1754 You’re almost correct. However, if it’s truly designed to “be held off camera” that would be inefficient. Neither of us have access to the source code of the game so it’s all speculation, of course. I would be willing to bet though, that the inventory isn’t rendered while you’re not accessing it, in order to conserve computer resources. As soon as the inventory button is pressed, there is likely code that tells the game to check for and verify the inventory objects from memory; and then gives the okay to display the pre-rendered inventory chest animation.
This game looks awesome. It seems to expand on the ideas in iron lung and absolutely run away with them. I’m so glad to see this will be a full release.
At first I was expecting another iron lung clone, but this is really impressive. The dev has put a huge amount of work into making the ship feel functional.
Not watching because I don't want to spoil myself but I've been following the developer's progress on this one and I'm excited to see it's far enough along that they're giving out preview copies! Glad you got a chance to try it out, ABG.
"We are out of fuel. Perhaps you should see if the locals have any captain" Ok, I get it that the sub runs on burning people, but why does it have to be a captain?
Great game idea. Very innovative. I'll make sure to get this one when its released. Hopefully they'll expand the number of locations we can visit, regarding DUNGEON CRAWLING, like swimming through a building full of rooms and corridors and floating furniture (aka Titanic). That would be AMAZING.
Love games like this. Reminds me of highfleet with its User Interface depth. Oh god, the way it cuts to a different media feed for the documents you find is so good. Its like the picture flash on the video feed was linked to a slideshow that cuts to the related file.
I've always wanted to see a video game company make just water-based underwater or water-based games in general whether they be survival or racing anything at all. 🤞🤞
Does anyone remember this old game I saw on this channel once? It's a first-person game where you're in a dark house with this weird old lady who's obviously not human. The old lady is a 2D sprite who's always facing you. Eventually you drink something from her, fall asleep, and she turns around, revealing her to be a monster behind her human facade.
Looks interesting. I think the flashlight isn't bright enough and it illuminates things in a box shape for some reason. Also the blurry text HUD is atmospheric but it hurts to read at a glance.
I guess in terms of thalassophobia, there's a decent bit of horror here, but otherwise it doesn't seem that scary. The big sea creatures are generally passive from the looks of it. The premise of an abandoned, unsettled world is unsettling I guess? Very cool game though
Game looks incredibly cool, been seeing clips on Twitter too. Only thing distracting me is the door opening sound effect reminds me of the Luigis Mansion locked door sound effect
I usually dont get hyped about alpha games but I got high hopes for this one, looks like a LOT of fun multiplayer if they add some threats, maybe harpoons or something to fight with... I'd like some more barotrauma in there, with classes and all that and dangerous critters and randomized stuff. Also some clowns please. Add clowns. This is a threat.
not sure you found thisout but i saw on another video that you can stand on the outside decks of the sub while it sin transit to the next location. get a way better view of whats going on. cant wait to play this myself. horror sub nautical vibes all the way. very pumped!
As one of the Thalassophobia person watching this, I find it quite interesting. Looting around and maintaining the submarine is pretty much my lingo there. I even find the large sea creatures and fishes an awe-inspiring thing to watch. Sadly, though, even if it's just a game, I can't play these kinds of game. My phobia would kick in very INTENSELY, and I won't proceed faster than often nor as I used to be. Still, a good game to watch...were it not a demo. Thalassophobia aside, why the heck are you the only person onboard this large submarine? It looks as though they're saying that you're the only person alive...in 1991. I know it's supposed to be scary if there's just one person. But that doesn't make any sense when you're literally the only person who has to take care of the sub, as well as jotting out a route for it. There should be at least three or four human NPCs roaming around the sub, doing maintenance check or slowly repairing damages (until you arrive to fully repair it). Now this, it makes much more sense!

I started a submarine tours business once.
Unfortunately it went under. :)
Can GPT-4 think of puns like this, I wonder?
Haha, I'm sure it would do better than my efforts!
This is why we pay you the big bucks
@@AlphaBetaGamer What a shame I thought it would go far fast. But I guess knot.
There's something fishy about this pun...
Hey, thanks for playing the demo!
My pleasure! It's a great game. Very tense atmosphere and love the exploration. Awesome work. Looking forward to seeing more! :)
nice to see you here! >:D your game is super cool
I am praying for Xbox support on its full release… 🙏🏼
Put More giant monster please, I will literally buy this game once it comes out
This game looks great!
Also, MORE GIANT CREATURES!!!!
"I don't have room for that" As someone who collects even the last bit of loot in games, this one would make me go mad.
21:58 ABG: *holds out metal cutter to make the giant crab think he's one of his pincered folk*
Any window structure in space and ocean depth is a nightmare fuel for me.
Don't be scurd
These under something horror games are being the best ones, because it's so erie, ominous, and you don't know what's happening! So good man...
This game looks awesome. It seems to expand on the ideas in iron lung and absolutely run away with them. I’m so glad to see this will be a full release.
IGN is gonna be pissed
They ain't even a real game journalist site anymore bro they've been fake since 2014 maybe even longer.
I was thinking that, hahaahah!!!
That would require them to actually play a game for once, ha.
HaHAAA 😂. Made me literally laugh-out-loud, so thank you for that lol
Why
At first I was expecting another iron lung clone, but this is really impressive. The dev has put a huge amount of work into making the ship feel functional.
The Iron Lung we never got.
Iron lung walked so this could run.
Omg every game related to water is not iron lung 😭
I guess you need to check barotrauma out then
SOMA 🤐

Getting some serious SOMA vibes from this one.
SOMA + Subnautica
Amazing. Every inch of this game is completely unnerving, cant wait for the full release
No way Barotrauma 3d update
The entire video have me in the edge of my seat. That was Awesome 😄👍🔥
I go daily to ABG's channel for these cool games.
The whole sound design was top-notch, with that "Alien" feel hmmm...
"We are out of fuel. Perhaps you should see if the locals have any captain"

Oh,I livd in Kagoshima 鹿児島.
I recommend go to Kirishima Shrine. The shrine enshrines Niniginomikoto, a hero of ancient Japanese legend.
As a big fan of Subnautica, I'm really keen to get this game!
I absolutely love this setting, being ompletly submerged modern architecture, I have a huge fascination with this exact setting
Why would one radiocarbon date a trunk and videotapes you already know came from the early 90s? Hoping for an answer by the end of this vid.
Well when you view the tapes and see events that definitely didn't happen in our 1990s, you'd probably start wondering just when it happened
Love to see what iron lung inspired
LOOK RLY COOL! Depth of sea brings always some horrors
I've always wanted to see a video game company make just water-based underwater or water-based games in general whether they be survival or racing anything at all. 🤞🤞
this is the best one in awhile
Subnautiron Lung
well
this is something i never knew was inevitable
This is my Willy appreciation comment, that little computer was so weirdly adorable
Yeah I think I'll just let you check this one out ABG, while I watch

Oh yeah I remember that. I think it's in one of the multiple game compilations. Or on the 2nd channel.
Hmm, maybe Stone House Orphanage? th-cam.com/video/1qzV-QW8tSc/w-d-xo.html
@@AlphaBetaGamer YES! That's it! Thanks!
Why are people comparing this to iron lung? The only thing they have in common is rusty aesthetics
Add this to the list of "games that would go so hard in co-op"
Looks interesting. I think the flashlight isn't bright enough and it illuminates things in a box shape for some reason.

Why does the AI assistant reference clippy from MS Office? He's dead let him rest.
this would be a ton of fun in multiplayer

Loved every bit of this except I hope the oxygen gets extended because it runs out so fast.

This is iron lung, except its on earth and not on a blood ocean moon, and the animals are either normal or monsters.
So its Barotrauma on earth ;)
HHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM......mmmmmaybe?
Dude I want more of this game!
Sounds a bit like Waterworld but better executed.
That’s insane! the whole world is underwater. looks creepy honestly
A moveable bunker, thalassophobia, oversized deepsea creatures, this will be so my game, for sure!

What's scarier? Dead Space or Live Depth?

could someone explain the giant flare that has source physics?

It's líke a canon of the game iron lung. I wanna see a part 2 of that game one day
Iron lung 2 looking lit🔥🔥🔥
demo is bugged gotta wait damn it
13:31 how are neon lights still working underwater when they run on elecricity?
where did you get the demo for this?
its like iron lung and subnautica combine
Is there a reason why the sub looks so disheveled when it’s just a year old?
Oh there's more to it than submarines
co-op on this would make it a hit tbh. what a waste it being sp
Why does the lantern provide square lighting, it doesn’t look very good.
Problably because it is a flashlight inside the guy helmet.
Wait it's out already?!
27:31 mario 64 flashbacks
thought it was the one that there's four walls...
7/10: too much water
The whole thing is giving me Iron Lung vibes.
How to get the demo?
Willy out here being an absolute cutie patootie
I would like to play it.
We live in a rusty submarine.

Barotrauma if it was a FPS game
finally, another intelligent lifeform in a comment section.

uuuuhhhh, a submerged world, it looks very "horror apocalypse"
