This has got to be one of the most under rated "hidden gem" cars on the market. What an awesome car
It's crazy how no one knew about them. I guess when you're so deep in the Porsche world you just assume everyone else knows. Truly a hidden gem. I feel so lucky to own one and get to use properly :) Thanks for the comment!
Also it’s so hard to find someone that pushes the car’s potential in the way it supposed to be driven, and you show us the capability of this car Thanx man!
@@patrykwolinski5520 Yeah I just really wanted to convey that although GT / RS cars are cool and something to aspire to, you just really don't need them for the backroads. They are mega overkill. You can have the speed (if you're into that) and all the fun too in the non GT / RS cars as well.
not that under rated if you look at the price
I can feel how fast nimble this thing is through the screen. Love these videos keep them coming.
Really appreciate that comment and feedback. Thank you bro! I’m trying to get invited to test drive the new Porsches on launch at the factory 🥲
I know that drift engaged full clench mode 😂
That was the first time in probably over 2 years of driving and doing what I do that my stomach sank. I decided to be cheeky because it was open environment and low speed, but I just put new tires on the car and I haven’t driven them in the rain yet.
@@DasCayman I hear you man. Wet roads always like to add some spice 😂
@@rddiesel1 The meatball got a little too spicy!
that feeling when you get away with doing dumb shit while driving is the best. i decided to slide my car in the snow and was so close to slamming my rear wheel into the curb but they found grip last minute. love the vids, good to see that you're getting more views.
I felt so cheeky entering the roundabout… I put new tires on the car and I wasn’t used to their wet performance like I was with the tires that I just took off the car… so it was a bit of an exploration event. Once the pendulum swung and I overcorrected I felt like such an asshat. Luckily all at 20mph lol and lots of runoff with no one around. But it’s all part of exploring grip limits
M2 CS daily driven in the New York winter.
I know that feeling. lol.
Luckily have kept it away from things, worse damage I have is from potholes.
chill bad boy my girl is on this app
As fun as it is eventually you get burned but it’s all part of the fun
Your videos have convinced me to buy one of these after I pay off the daily. Fingers crossed they’ll still be affordable in 1-2 years.
How much does it cost now?
@@PolarDarkness like 50-60k for a decent ne, 70k+ for a really good one
Beautiful car, 10/10 spec, 10/10 sound. Perfect.
Thank you! I couldn't agree more. It's such a peach to drive. Really glad I'm able to enjoy it.
Nice to see these being used properly. Sounds incredible
HAHAHA - MOST EXCELLENT
Love the fact you barely had that slide locked in. “Don’t do it!!!” Proceeds to DO IT
Call me Nostradamus!
closes video, immediately starts search for a second hand Boxster Spyder
This is such a nice clean “drivers car” build. All the right bits but classic looking. The Boxster doesn’t get much love but these videos have me reconsidering my first entry into Porsche ownership one day.
Happy with my M2CS but a Porsche next to it is on the vision board.
This is no mortal boxster. Spyders are so rare and always command premium.
Wow thank you for the comment! Real nice. M2CS is a great car, can be hard to beat for same money in the Porsche world... but if you get the right Boxster I think you'll really enjoy it. The hard part is just finding the right spec and availability...
987.2 Spyder manual with buckets, 981 Boxster GTS manual, 981 Spyder with buckets and PCCB and PSE.
I'm happy I was able to board the Spyder train when I did
Even a 1st gen is fun with the right mods. I had one with a new bilstein suspension and an aftermarket exhaust. I never should’ve sold that car
Awesome content man! Definitely my current dream car. Like you said, for the twisty back roads, it checks all of the juicy boxes
brother, this was too much fun to watch!
I just moved to a crowded Californinan city from Upstate NY, you made me miss those open roads so much :(

Been trying to decide on what to get for my next fun car (been missing my old foxbody haha) and man I really think these videos have sealed the deal for me on getting one of these, they look so fun to drive
Man, I gotta tune my 987S. That thing's EPIC! Loved your 'code brown' moment coming off the roundabout. Great vid.
It was my first code brown I can remember having in years… if I’m going to risk something at least it was at 20mph and no one else around with plenty of runoff…
Thanks for watching!! Wanted to include that part because it’s what’s real.
I love how this is a up and coming channel! Love the 3 pedals also! Beautiful car! I’m comparing this to my 135i convertible :) just for a broker guy but also 3 pedals
Thanks for stopping by! Appreciate the kind words!
Rain driven. PCA community in shambles. Good stuff, those DFI motors make incredible power.
I went to a PCA event…. Once…
For the most part they were kinda chill with my driving style but had eyes the size of saucers when I would power slide everywhere

Really a cool car dude. Love the content. Cheers from Japan🇯🇵
Wow, nice to know there is an international audience. I've always wanted to visit Japan. How are the roads there?
BestMotoring is probably my favorite YT channel. Tsuchiya is a legend
@@DasCayman I'm not japanese tho. I just live here.
The roads are not that great, lots of them are very narrow with holes, so not really Aventador friendly. It's better in big cities.
You sir have made my day thank you so much for posting this type of content.
Glad you enjoyed it!
May the force be with you always! 😅
Please keep uploading. I'm loving these videos
I appreciate your support! Thank you!
bro you talk exactly like me to myself 😂😂🤣🤣 love these videos. can’t wait to own this car when i get a job after college !!!! love💜
You got this! Thank you for the support!! In a constant monologue of comedy with myself
Love your enthusiasm! If I can ask for a video topic, can you talk about what some of us plebs can do if we can't find or afford the Boxter spyder...what alternative do we have to get close to that experience? Like can we get a 987.2 Boxter S and do aftermarket mods to get close? And what would those mods look like? Because let's be honest, with 400 of these might as well be a unicorn
Yup, been actively searching for these with bucket seats since coming across this channel last year but it's been tough.
A 987.2 Boxster S will get you most of the way there. Look for the X73 suspension option, which is the same suspension as the Spyder. And then buy a set of APEX VS-5RS or Titan T-S5 wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires to get weight reduction at the wheels and you’ll get a lot of the feel of the Spyder. As you fall down the rabbit hole, consider throwing on headers and an exhaust for more weight loss and visceral fun. When the time comes for a new battery, use a LIPO battery for some more weight loss. And if you really get bit by the bug, throw in some aftermarket bucket seats… part of the appeal of the Spyder is how the stock lightweight buckets grab you… but they are too expensive IMO to retrofit, so I’d personally drop in some Recaro Sportster or Pole Position seats to get that feel. All of that will get you pretty close to the same feel as the Spyder, I’ve got a 2011 Spyder, but I am considering a similar plan for a Cayman to build a Cayman R-style car for half the price.
fave pov channel here. also on my favorite era of porsche (2011-12)
2011-2012 was truly peak Porsche... What a time to be alive. I think most of the doors closed after the 981 GT4 and 2016 911 R
@@DasCayman I have fallen in love with the 997s, especially the 3rs 4.0 because of its looks, sounds, and fantastic color combos. There's a private collection in town and I was freaking out when I saw it come out of the garage. Truly a car that is a piece of art
A lot of great roads in that area. Nice to see someone else out there hooning them as well. I make it a point to hit them if I'm over there for C&C. Don't think I would have had the balls to navigate the circle like that in the wet tho hahaha. Nice save for sure.
Right on! Hope to see you down here in Mexico as well. The C&C is a nice addition to the area. What car are you in? I'm sure I've passed you by before.
@@DasCayman I’m in HARCO so only over there a couple times a month at most. Bright red Pontiac G8. Not Porsche levels of handling but gets the job done on coilovers and the entire whiteline catalog thrown at the rest of the suspension.

Nice to see your channel has gotten some traction
Thanks for your comment and support!

Before I bought my frs I was looking into 986 boxsters and someone snagged the perfect spec manual 986 the day I went to go look at it. When the time is right I’m definitely picking up a manual 987.2
I'm glad you did it so I don't have to! That is awesome and scary! Love your car and your content!

please be careful in the rain my heart kinda skips a beat when i see you fooling around with oncoming traffic

@@DasCayman yep no amount of likes and views would bring you back if you made a mistake. I do love your videos and I have searched Boxster Spyder in my local auto classifieds because of you 🤣
Great car control! Love watching these!
This video wasn't my proudest control moment, but wanted to show some reality. But thanks for the comment and watching! Always nice to hear from the viewers.
The sound is intoxicating
It really is the best
Awesome content! Watching these videos reminds me a lot of myself when I was younger. Out of curiosity, have you driven a Lotus Emira yet? I, as with a lot of people, are on the fence about getting an Emira or a Porsche, perhaps the 987 or a 718, so I'm curious to know how the two compare. A lot of people have said that the Emira is better, but I haven't really seen them drive the wheels off of it like you do (how I would "1% of the time :)").
The Cayman R from that year is near the top of my list.
Love the Cayman R. My dream is Peridot green metallic, silver R wheels, PCCB and bucket seats with manual
“Didnt want to mustang leaving car show into him” ahahaha
@DasCayman, can you comment some on driving the car with the roof on with the rear window section removed? Seems it would give you the feel of a convertible in terms of airflow while shielding you from the hot sun. This seems to be a big appeal to the car, unless the airflow isn't managed well in that configuration.
Hey! Yes there is a ton of airflow still with the sun shade on and the rear not installed. Good for long sunny days or if it’s a little chilly out. I’m usually wearing a hat when I drive for the sun though. Such a great and versatile car. Can’t recommend enough.
I subscribed after seeing you absolutely fiddlely diddle on the exit of that roundabout
I was embarrassed to even show it, but it's what was real :)

It's amazing the sound it can make... I couldn't be happier! Looking forward to making that video too! Thanks for subscribing!
@@DasCayman Do you think it's possible to obtain a similar sound from the 3.8 C2S engine?
I’m convinced my cayman came with headers after hearing yours. Stop telling people how good these spyders are or I’ll never find one!
My biggest fear is not someone stealing mine and getting an insurance check for full amount, but it's getting the check and not being able to find another manual bucket seat spyder to replace it with! I had to wait 2 years before finding this one... and most people weren't even on to them yet.
Big oops went to a big recovery. VERY NICE!
No trophies or prizes out there!!

Super fan of your spyder and how you drive it. Thanks to you I’m considering buying one, with buckets and MT, but it lacks the PSE. I really love the way your Spyder screams , could I get the same awesome sound with headers but without PSE ?
Also I’m curious to know how you got 400 hp:)
Thanks for your channel,I love it
Do I have a video for you... th-cam.com/video/HfBwa4vYDOU/w-d-xo.html
I can't concretely say you'll get the same sound with the headers and no PSE... but I'm sure it won't sound bad at all! I appreciate the feedback! These videos are fun to make.
thanks, I’ll experience headers on this car anyway. If ever it’s not enough, maybe I’ll add PSE .
I finally got it ! So happy with that car so far, lightweight feeling and the engine make every ride fabulous. I still want more from the exhaust because yours is incredible, so I was about to get catless headers bit I’m reading here and there people complaining about the smell. How about you?
@@xhipper5987 No smell issue at all :)
that thing rips!
You’re making me reeeeallly want one of these 🤓
The water is fine my friend :)
I've seen some of the engine gurus delete the variocam-plus to make the valve buckets lighter and be able to rev to 8500-9000 rpm on these engines
Holy... I need a link to that... bit too involved for my use, but would love to see the results.
Perfect!
It really is the best :)
a friend of mine has a 2018 boxter s with 350ph and that car is fire, now i'm just trying to imagine how that thing drives ;) i currently own an NA 944 with a respectable 160ph and as a daily a fiesta ST2, hella fun cars
I used to have a Fiesta ST with 300HP/300TQ and it was gutted out from the driver seat backwards. Arguably one of the most laughter inducing cars I've driven. It was an absolute riot on back roads. Good living!
this summer i'll go stage 2 making around 250hp :) i'm only 20y/o so that's plenty of power
I just had one of those moments in my 991.1 last week 😂 puddles and lack of commit will do that to you!
I 100% bitched out once the pendulum swung the other direction a little too much. I just put new tires on the car and haven’t had a feel for how they slide in the rain. Decided to keep that part in to show what’s real :)
My all American hero. Loving the updates, hugely appreciated & inspirational to me & my 987.2 R. I also mostly chill & occasionally drive like a bell end. Full breakdown vid would be ace. One quick Q, did I read the new peak power is around 6300 rpm? Seems kinda low no? Super interested on your thoughts on the runners!
Wow such nice words! Thank you! I love the Cayman R, my dream would be to trade in my 987.1 for a 2012 Peridot manual with LWBS and PCCB and silver wheels....
What color is yours? I'll have a full breakdown video coming up soon! Thanks again for the comment.
@@DasCayman Mine is a Guards Red Manual, LWBS wheels (black with silver lip), carbon buckets, extended interior design pack, sport chrono etc. There is film coming out later in the year I made on the car with Becky Evans & goodwood road racing club YT channel , i’ll let you know when it drops.
I did the same thing in my vette during all this rain out by John Browns, though... with less pucker LOL
A right angle powerslide is easy, it's connecting the turns and slides on unfamiliar tires that did it. It's almost as if I predicted the event when I announced "don't do it!"

Looking to get a 981 cayman s 3.4l.. What do you think
Those are GREAT cars!!!
@@DasCayman Thank you, it's either 981 cayman s or a E92 M3 :)
Not so sure that's a car to modify too much. 1/ It will remain a Carrera engine whatever you do 2/ his bouncy behaviour makes it fun to drive and gives the thrill. I should only work on the following points : a) exhaust to give a better note at high rpm due to shy original PSE (but I like it) b) a light flywheel - the original one doesn't convince me for hill and toe and your proposition seems good ! c) maybe a little ajustement on the front end to improve the feeling of the steering (which is a little to light and missing some emotion but I'm very demanding on that point) - but I didn't find what at the moment. Except that I guess It will change the philosophy of the car up to my point of view. And as said in the comments of the last video, I think it's not comparable to a GT3 but It's a reaaaal cool car I like to drive !
Great points! Thanks for the feedback!
Epic driving Epic Video !!!
Thank you! I appreciate your support!
How do people not know the Porsche boxster?
What an incredible machine. What mods have you done to get it upto 400hp? I always looked down on Boxters and Caymans... this video has opened my eyes! Great POV!
Thanks! It's such a great car for non-track use. The GT / RS cars come with engines that you can pound 24 hours straight on the Nurburgring. If you get the wrong cayman / boxster you'll likely hate it. But if you get the right one... you'll love it!

hey man, greetings from spain, i love your content. can i ask u what do u do for a living? thx!
Hi! Thank you! I've always wanted to visit there. I'm a systems & mechanical engineer. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Loved my 987.2, had catless headers and a softronic tune - couldn’t beat the sound from that platform. Have a 991 now. What do you use to record POV video? Audio sounds great
Thank you! I put some links in the description :)
Will a tuned 987 Boxster S (non Spyder) be comparable to this? I’d love to eventually see a comparison video. This car is rad but it’s still a rare spec so they go for a lot of money. Just curious if I could get the same feel out of a 987 Boxster or even Cayman?
If you're referring to the 987.2 Boxster S, you'd be cable to get the same performance, but you wouldn't get the same ambiance / feeling. It's "like" comparing sitting in a base 911 to a 997.2 3RS and the way the car makes you feel when you sit in and walk away from it. That feeling and what it's worth to you is hard to quantify. Similar to comparing a 997.2 GT3 for $180k vs a 997.2 GT3RS for $340k.... is the RS worth the extra price? "No," but it'll tap into that childhood dream better. But everything has a price, because when the car is cheap enough you can get more joy out of a car that is way more expensive. In summary, different ways to access joy and enthusiasm. Hard to give an exact answer. But I will say that I would not sell my Spyder and enjoy having an extra $30k in my account. But we are all different. Hope this helps?
Just learned about this version of the boxster thanks to you. I love it🤌🏻
how do you have 400hp? is it still the stock engine? @DasCayman
Its a fantastic car man. What engine is it? The 2.7, 3.2 or 3.4? There were concerns of bore scoring on the 3.4s if im not mistaken, is that still the case?
Dfi engines really didn’t have a problem with this. This is a 3.4L
Liked the houses and greenery in Mexico, almost opposite of europe
So obviously, this thing is crazy awesome, but also very rare and unaffordable for most. Do you know any Boxster models that are less rare but come close to this experience (with some mods maybe?)
It's a balance. You can basically turn any car into a racecar with massive theater and feedback. So it becomes a budget constraint to guide you in the right direction.
Rain in Mexshire?
We had an El Nino!
3:25 Damn nice tune sir, sounds great and it even non-chalantly rapidly accelerated to a blur!🤌🏾
Thank you! There's a little room for improvement at the top of the rev range where it dips, but overall it's a good result. Car drives great.
mad lad. even im worried about flooring it in the rain but i'm in a civic type r lol.
It's fun at low speed... too much risk (for me) at high speed. You can probably see in the video where I pull back. Just not worth it. Packed up and headed home. Thanks for the comment.
Why are the front wheels spinning on the dyno?
Since the front wheels spin on the street, he likes to simulate real life for everything.
@@DasCayman … what? What i mean is what is causing those front wheels to spin on the dyno? The Boxster isn’t awd. Are the dyno rollers connected together front and real wheels?
What happened to the carpets behind your seats ? Make it lighter ?
Was doing engine work and didn't want to put the trim back until I confirmed all the work was good :)
mid engine lift off hits ya like a TRUCK
I didn’t commit 😭
But I wanted to show others the reality
Are you 100% sure this car has the original 3.4 litre engine? It sounds so meaty and beefy like it has a 3.8 and the power it makes for a boxster engine is on the higher end… it would have needed quite some mods to get there.
Ain't no one got time to do a $30k engine swap for an extra 60HP lol. It's the stock 3.4L :)
