seeing the way you guys and the kids interact seriously made me consider wanting kids omg.... the way you guys just seem so content and happy with each other is so endearing, the way you let the kids be curious about the kitchen and cooking process is so sweet.
Love this!! Is it silly that this is one of my more loved videos? I take homesteading so seriously, it's all about the food, baby! Not the trendy, oh it's cute, hobby farming stuff you see out there. Seeing the massive amounts of food stored away makes me more happy than any pretty scene of lovely areas. Silly, I know. But it makes my heart sing when I see my carefully stored foods I raised laboriously. And seeing yours makes my heart sing the same way. Thanks for sharing! ❤
I love that the kids are around the kitchen seeing how things are done. It reminds me of when I grew up... They will forever be great full when they grow up they are so blessed to have you guys as parents 💗💕💕💕
I love to make things beautiful, but I’ve never been able to explain why. Until just now! The more beautiful things are, the more inspired you are to create! Thank you for those words!
Thank you! Please continue this purposeful organization theme. I believe families continue to struggle with not just seasonal cleaning but daily organizing, cleaning and preserving house and home. Learning this skill 2019 will bring peace of mind. ❤️🌱
Oh gee...now that I've found your channel and some of the other homesteaders I'm feeling equal parts inspired, embarrassed, overwhelmed, and encouraged. I struggle to get Kraft Dinner on the table for my three kids, and you just put a beautiful salad and DUCK on the table. I struggle to define whether I am just a different type of person and should enjoy the lifestyle we are living, or whether I need to make changes to get closer to what I see in your family. It doesn't help that my husband's MS holds him back and therefor seems to anchor our family in a bit of chaos and sometimes despair. But we've been going at this for 12.5 years and we love each other and our kids more today than yesterday. Maybe we'll get where we need to be or find the peace in where we are now along the way.
Your root cellar is outstanding! Thank you for sharing! I so loved hearing your loving children sing together! I am so relaxed after enjoying this video I think I will watch the next one relaxing in my hot tub outside on this beautiful July 2022 Lake Chelan Valley day! God Bless you all!
This is my first time watching your family vlog and I loved it! Having that very old root cellar is such a plus to your homestead. I haven't seen the rest of the house but I can imagine it is just as lovely. The duck looked so good, and I've never had the pleasure of even eating duck. My brother cooks it for holidays but he lives way up in Duluth, MN. I can't wait to see more of your videos and you have a beautiful family! Thank you for sharing your life with us!
I so admire all of the young people that are homesteading now days and teaching their children where their food comes from and how to grow it. If I we're younger it's the life I would definitely want.
Thank you for always talking about how long projects take in such positive ways. It gives me hope that we'll get our place up and running someday. The reminder that projects start and stop and evolve is so helpful!
Great video. The duck looked sooo good. My all time favorite meat! Love the root cellar, we had a large pantry room in Oregon that we used for this, can't wait to see how we will store our crops now. :)
Oooh have you thought over putting white beadboard shiplap on the ceiling to brighten the space. We have a local colonial 1950s house and almost everywhere they could put old beadboard they did. It makes spaces so much easier to clean and bigger feeling. Love the dedicated space for root cellar pantry. How inspiring.
Your husband did a very good job on the ceiling. You guys seem to love and respect each other. Good men don’t hear enough praise. Thanks for reminding me to keep doing that for my own bearded cutie 🥰.
Omg as a city girl/hair dresser I've always wondered what I was going to to when I farm on a larger scale when it comes to still looking glam!! And boy oh boy you nailed it with the makeup and lashes!! I see it still can be done!! Love your video this is the first one I've seen.
I was just thinking about you guys. You live your lives FULLY. Enjoying every little aspect of your lives. Kudos! Thank you so much for sharing your lives, knowledge, family and interests with us. You give us much to aspire to.
Fantastic. That cabbage and duck with those flavours sound incredibly good. Every homesyeads envy with a cellar AND a walk in fridge. Great video once again.
@@theelliotthomestead thanks for replying. I'm sub tropical so I don't know if anything like that would even work here. It's so rare here in Australia to have anything like it anywhere. One room was probably a cistern like my basement. The rest was probably a cellar for food storage. We call it a fruit cellar here. Goof fruit cellars had dirt floors so you could store whole cabbage plants and carrots in sand.
Do your children realize how lucky they are to have a mommy that is such a great cook? I love your videos. Please make lots more this year. Thank You. Grandpa Jones
So glad to see you are posting again on a regular basis. Would love to hear some commentary on the cooking. Great job on the videos. Keep up the good work. The food looks delicious, the garden captivating, the house a vintage treasure, and the company subliime.
Elegant, calm, enjoyable! I love to watch you choose your ingredients from your great pantry and whip up a gourmet meal while chatting with us. I can see you getting your own show on TV. Hugs❤️

I find this so fascinating and would love to try this when I purchase my own home. Personally I'm vegan, but not judging your way of life in the way you care for your family! Also all that saurkraut looks heavenly haha.
Thank you for showing us your cellar! When I was reading about it in your book, I wished I could see it! 😉
