Callum so much respect for you bro, stay blessed and enjoy your remaining time in Pakistan. If I was in Pakistan I would have definitely invited you to jhelum and showed you around. Unfortunately there is alot of poverty in Pakistan, if you give money to one then the rest come running too and it's in all areas. Stay vigilant and stay safe.
You are right, we do take azan for granted, and realize how badly we miss it when we are in a foreign country...sad

You made an excellent point regarding the disrespect for the adhaan! The problem is borne from an ignorance and lack of knowledge of Islamic etiquette and teaching! Most of the people you meet are cultural Muslims ie follow cultural practices intertwined with a little true Islamic teaching! They should show true reverence to the call to prayer and indeed actually perform the prayer when it is heard! I noticed ur boys totally ignored this call and indeed talked over it! Extremely disrespectful! Well observed by yourself!
Secondly the point you correctly alluded to regarding shirrak! The calling on other divinities and associations to God is the gravest of all crimes in Islam and takes you out of the fold of islam! This is expressly forbidden. Unfortunately it is commonplace in the subcontinent because of the historical context of the people aligning to Hindu culture and traits! The true nature of Islam is vehemently opposed to any such actions! Sufi practice is also a deviance to true Islam and this should be noted by non Muslims too! I am really appreciative of your reverence and regard for the real nature of Islam! Credit to you sir!
You must try to find abd extract real students and scholars of Islam to help you understand this better! Don’t take anything from the laymen you are hanging out with!
