As Multan is regarded as the shrine and dates back centuries it's very hard to update security and the city is sacred to a lot of Pakistanis, so a escort is just to secure that and I hope it didn't ruin your day

You are right at the end. Multan is overall safe. I think there are a few gangs here & there. There is no terror related threat but authorities are just so ultra cautious which is completely absurd. Its an ancient city with incredible history & culture.
It felt safe to us! Just like any major city. So much history in the city to see and glad we got to see some of it 😀

Yes always got to be aware of your surroundings. We’ve been to major cities in Europe where pick pocketing is a serious problem. Thankfully, in Pakistan, we had no issues with our safety at all 👍

For local experience, you should seek a native dweller of that city who roam around with you, I think you won't need a police escort in Multan if you know some local there. So for best experience go with a local. I'm talking about cities other than Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad and gilgit-baltistam
I think we would do this next time. We only found out the night before you need an escort as the first hotel we booked rejected us. I think the experience would be better with a local although the police did look after us 👍

I am sorry for the hassle you went through. Multan is not a modern city. Authorities are super careful about the safety of foreigners. I can't blame the police here. I think all policemen behaved in a decent manner especially with Ash 👍
Its still an interesting place but you dont get the basic freedom here so its a bit frustrating.
It’s a little bit of a hassle but we were well looked after by the police 👍 hopefully one day tourists will be able to explore Multan freely 😀

Yea...I didn't like the idea of a security escort. It kind a defeated the purpose of free spirits roaming around. Probably the local authorities were worried about locals getting over excited,when they see caucasians. Better safe than sorry,I guess!! Any local food videos coming up??😀
I think that’s the reason why the escort is needed. We still had a good day, but it is nicer to roam around freely. There is a food vlog coming soon as we visit burns road in Karachi 👍

Police need more training to deal with foreign tourists as there's no wel coming smile and politeness on their faces. So weird and angry faces .
They want to make sure you get home in one piece. Things are getting a little sketchy in Pakistan once again. Targeting foreigners brings easy and cheap publicity to certain anti-social peace hating groups
We felt safe during our whole 2 months in Pakistan 👍 the hospitality we received was incredible in every region/city we visited. Hopefully this continues for all other tourists as I expect more and more people to visit Pakistan due to its amazing hospitality 🇵🇰

Too many shrines whole of Pakistan worship graves which is forbidden in Islam so this is not Islam more like Hindi as Pakistan was Hindu before. Arabic language called shirk

We didn't think it was a waste of time, just unfortunate that the police escort is a mandatory requirement and for us it meant we couldn't just wonder freely. We always want to experience a place for ourselves so we can make our own decisions 😊

Its very strange that almost no women on the streets, even not a single girl child is seen going to school, i can see some boys bt not a single girl, why 🤔
It’s a common site in some of the more conservative areas of Pakistan, however in the major cities you will see lots of women in the streets. 🇵🇰
