- Today in our #BibleStudyWithMe series we are in #Galatians chapter 5, which is where the famous fruit of the Spirit passage is! ✨
In this chapter, we'll be talking about how it is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free, and we'll be learning about what that freedom truly means - because it's a lot different than what culture tends to tell us freedom is.
Then we'll dig into the section on keeping in step with the Spirit, where Paul presents to us two lists: one for the works of the flesh, and one for the fruit of the Spirit. It is so important to understand these two lists and be able to identify where these contrasting things are at play in our lives and the world around us. I'll be breaking down the words in each list, so get ready for lots of definitions. 😉

Thank you for spending time on the works of the flesh opposed to fruits of the spirit. It seems in todays world...even the church....we spend so much time on Gods love, Gods forgiveness, Gods grace, Gods help and skip over things God wants us to strive to achieve. Then everyone is surprised when SOME of todays youth (and not so young) expect everything without giving anything.

Thank you Kaci😊 Everything is ultimately Grace! I see a great and widening divide between works based and Grace based Christianity. The battle rages right now like I've never seen it. I Praise God for His Holy Spirit to understand the scriptures, not just knowing how to quote the scriptures. Aw that is so encouraging 😊the lighter blue notebook is my regular journal! I use that in the typical journaling sense to process through thoughts and things going on in my life, and sometimes I use it for sermon notes! The Scribe journal I use to study a specific passage or verse 💛

These are excellent commentaries that are simple yet have depth. My only difference in opnion is that all forms of magic are wrong. 'Black'magic is not worse than 'White' magic and all operate in a spirit of deception, control and manipulation.

All my study of scripture leads me to think paul is saying walk in the spirit, adhering to the law
I have a question! When were talking about the flesh and what is of the spirit and what isn’t what if your someone who is of both does that mean your at war with urself?
What book are you using for the commentary?
So do i listen to jesus teaching or pauls?
Can I add a little context? The idea of the law, which was paired with circumcision, was that it attached you to the covenant of the law.
Paul, all throughout the letter is contrasting this, such as in chapter 4 in verses 21-28. This idea of covenant is to maintain the glory of God among the people, through the presence of God within the temple (2 Corinthians 3:7-12).
The idea of us being the temple (Ephesians 2:20-21) is the point of a new covenant. It’s a new means of the mediation of the presence of God, not through the old covenant, its temple and rituals (Hebrews 8:1-7, Hebrews 9:1-7).
So, part of the circumcision was devoting this kind of ideology among the people. It wasn’t just Christ. Rather, it was Christ, while maintaining purity laws and other signs of the covenant (Colossians 2:11, Colossians 2:16-17) distinctions introduced through the sign of circumcision. Circumcision, which interestingly enough, was a sign of a true Jew. (Romans 2:26-29).
This would have indeed cut them off from the grace and new covenant of God. Paul explicitly states, in Galatians 5:3 and Galatians 4:21, that those who receive this circumcision put themselves under the law, which brings wrath and the curse of death (Galatians 3:13, Romans 4:13-16). He also states that if He, or even an angel were to preach something other, he is to be accursed (Galatians 1:6-7).

Sister Kaci, maybe a bit of context before looking up commentaries. The commentary you read made v5 to sound more than it meant.
False doctrine crept in to the church in Galatians, and they unknowingly took it in... But from what we read back in Galatians 4:11-15, we cannot disqualify the fervency of the Galatians when Paul was with them to preach the gospel to them.
Sorry, I didn't watch your previous videos on the 4 chapters before. But I think this needs tweaking.
I love your bible study content: I find it is very thorough, however, you speak way too fast and it is challenging to digest all you are saying at that speed. Is it possible to slow it down more like Jesus?
