Republican scapegoating is disgusting ( mental health) is always there playbook. So tell me why There hero T cut all funding towards mental health, one of the first things he did, when he got into the White House? Because it was Obama who wanted more funding for mental health? How did he answer the question? He totally ignored the question and stated 3 things America needs to do in order to prevent mass shootings. His department, along with federal agencies did not act when presented with a lot of factual evidence that this individual was indeed a threat. Going around and sending the kind of stuff the individual was sending was threatening and not normal. Again, apologies if I missed the sheriffs response but I did not hear the reasoning behind why LE did not act. Also, his comment about how 18 year olds should not be allowed to buy rifles, was comical. 18 year olds lack common sense (we know this), but we still allow them to enlist in an infantry unit within the US military and go overseas to fight wars. I’m assuming the sheriff is against that then as well? Also, I don’t want to start a debate but please understand that if criminals want to inflict harm on others, they will do so. It doesn’t matter what “laws” you put in place, criminals don’t obey laws, that’s why they are criminals. There is no making it “harder” for criminals to obtain firearms. If criminals want firearms, they will get them. However, more “gun control” does make it harder on law abiding citizens. A couple examples then I am off.
      1. The most recent federal rule by ATF “pistol brace ban” (not constitutional and ruled out by a federal judge with a nationwide injunction. Now everyone can go back to rocking their braces). My point to this is that, Biden admin stated the brace made it easier for “criminals” to stabilize their firearms, allowing for more people to be killed in an incident. Yes, although the brace was invented for those who have disabilities, you can shoulder it to help with accuracy while using an SBR. Wouldn’t you want “law abiding citizens” to be accurate with their guns? I sure would like the guy backing me up to be accurate, and the brace did just that. The funny thing is though, do you really think a criminal was going to obey the brace ruling? A criminal walks into a store about to commit one of the biggest atrocities a human can commit and says to himself, “damn, should I really be using this brace? I’m about to light everyone up but if I get caught with this brace, I’m looking at 10 years”. I mean it’s just stupid.
I can say the same thing for the states who place “ammo” restrictions for magazines. Do you really think a criminal cares how many rounds he has in his magazines? Criminals do not. This is what makes them criminal. Mag capacity restrictions do impact those who follow the law which in return can affect them if they ever come across one of those “criminals”.
I could literally go on and on. We live in a society where firearms are a norm, so as a country lets acknowledge that, and start educating the younger generations about them. I believe this is a good start.
I am open to having friendly discussions about firearms in America and gun control but please do not blast this message with hate.
      Thanks

@@Jdubs93 Yes. They do not know there are more guns in the US than people and over 120 million gun owners. Too late to try to take tools of freedom from the people the way Hitler took the Jews' guns. Also, FDR killed more Jews than America's 120 million gun owners ever will. Read The Jews Should Keep Quiet. By Rafael Medoff. FDR also starved Americans. Read FDR's Folly. By Jim Powell. Look up the Supreme Court case involving the farmer, Osker Filburn. Wickard v. Filburn, 317 US 111 (1942) Filburn was the farmer FDR punished for trying to feed starving Americans as children ate out of garbage cans in the big cities. The fact is that evil people will do evil things. Poor abused Demi Moore look alike Dana L. Is missing the point. She speaks as if there is some action that can be taken by the people that will alter the future and prevent such events from ever happening again. Crimes are committed every day and are already illegal. Her argument is just as valid as saying that we must take action now so no crimes of any kind are ever committed again. That staged lady asking questions to Dana as if she is responsible for the actions of "crazy" people is clearly there to try and pull heart strings. If anyone is to blame besides patsy it is the FBI who we already know works with CIA & spies on every single person would know exactly who is going to do what yet they claim they could not locate the shooter despite the unusual spelling of his name & the fact that that was the screen name exact that he posted comments under. The cop said that fully autos should be outlawed??? As a cop shouldn’t he know that they are outlawed already

    • @heliumphoenix
      @heliumphoenix 4 ปีที่แล้ว +206

They aren't outlawed. However, the process to legally procure/purchase a fully automatic weapon is VERY involved, expensive, time-consuming, and more. SOME states have outlawed purchase of such weapons, but 35 states still permit it. In those states you:
      Must be 21 and older
Must fill out form 4 and submit using a class 3 dealer
Must get the paperwork signed by the sheriff or police chief where you live
Must get fingerprint and background check
Must submit a couple of portrait pictures similar to that used for a passport
Must send all to BATF along with $200
Must wait 6 months to a year for paperwork to come back (as long as all is filled properly)
Must take returned paperwork to class 3 dealer who then takes about $150 of your money and gives you your automatic weapon.
Some states will require additional checks and licensing beyond this.
Furthermore, you have to find one for sale. The supply of legally-transferable machine guns was cut off in May of 1986 by federal law. There are roughly 186,000 of them in circulation, and the number slowly decreases over time as they are occasionally destroyed, lost, or stolen. Demand keeps going up because the population increases over time so the number of registered full autos per-capita decreases. They are very expensive. Almost the entire cost is due to the artificial scarcity imposed by law. Expect to pay $7000+ for machine pistols, and $15,000+ for fully automatic rifles.
Or, become a a Type 1 or Type 7 FFL, you can get a Class 3 or Class 2 SOT (special occupation tax) that will allow you to deal with NFA items.. As such you could own full-auto weapons regardless of manufacture date..
      .
Non-FFL holders cannot get a permit to own automatic weapons. They can purchase a single NFA item with a Form 4, but it's not a blanket authorization.. It applies only to a single serialized, pre-86 automatic weapon, or other NFA item.
So, no, they aren't "outlawed" except in some states. And the rest there is a LOT to go through (and a load of money required) to obtain a fully automatic firearm.

Like a hammer, a carving knife, a pair of scissors, an automobile, or an axe, it can be used either for good or bad depending on the intention of the person in whose hands it is held. Going after the NRA or firearms manufacturers because of evil committed by those utilizing their products would be fine if, in honesty, we also took liquor manufacturers and automakers to court for providing the means for drunk drivers to kill.

When I served jury duty last year, I was surprised to see how many armed police officers were at the court house to protect the people that worked there. More guns doesn’t solve the problem bringing fire to fire make it worse, the real problem is that they don’t pay enough attention to people with mental illnesses people who are sick and need help, if they got the help they needed they wouldn’t start a mass shooting and that’s a fact, the gun problem is huge in America there should be ATLEAST a background check on people buying guns, nobody should be able to go in and just buy a gun, I know they can’t just remove all the guns but people are much less likely to kill a person with a knife than a gun, I hope people start to realise that I’m glad I’m not from America.

Furthermore the school had a mental health file on him because he had been telling his therapists about his plans to murder… The school did nothing.
Surely if either of them took action this kid would have been banned from owning weapons.
The cops were then outside while the shooting was happening and decided to do nothing while children were murdered… This in my mind is the most concerning part of it all.

    • @addieeeson
      @addieeeson 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Peyton Michelle
Not as children, as possibly unstable humans. Teen’s minds are statistically more unstable as they are still maturing and developing mental stability for themselves.
High school can be very stressful and tense for kids. Bullying and drama are the lead causes of insecurity. The standards kids lay out in high school are sick and can cause individuals to kill themselves (having a nice body, having clear skin, etc).
The way parents raise their kids is the main influence on how their kids act, and given that most high school kids go around doing drugs, getting into crimes, and shooting up schools (not all of them shoot up schools, just pointing that factor out), it’s easily noticeable that most parents are awful and have terrible morals to raise their kids with.
When you combine all those factors together, if you push an 18 year old over the edge, you bet they’re more likely to buy a gun and shoot up a school.
For 21 year olds, this is all different. Your mind is a little more developed, and most kids are not with their parents anymore thus not having their parent’s potential trash influence on them. Also, they’re out of high school, which like I mentioned can be stressful with the school work and students.
Anyways, this concludes my argument. You don’t have to treat them as kids, but you have to recognize their circumstances. A 3 year difference is a lot when it’s separating teen years from adult years.

The blame should be intiaerally on the school system and the police for not doing enough to stop these fucking murderers to even get close to our kids. I speek from experience, my son goes to the most prominent school where i live and these fuckers had the balls to tell me and all the others parents that there 7 foot tall fence and their locked glass door was more than enough to stop a murder from getting into their school. I was thrown out of a parent teacher conference for saying that we need ( not just one) but multiple armed security guards on campass if we want to not only protect our children but to also deter any one with evil intentions from coming to the schools.

"High-powered guns?" Almost all gun crime in the US is handguns. In the last 100 years, 120 million people were killed by their own governments. Not counting wars. Genocide and democide. It is happening now. British soldiers coming after the Colonials' guns is what started the American Revolution. Hitler got his insane ideas just by reading history. He looked at what the UK and other countries, including the US, had done. And asked why not Germany? FDR had his own race-based concentration camps, and his own Nazi-like master-race medical experiments performed on black men. He also, like his Uncle Joe and Blood Brother, Stalin, forced farmers to plow crops under, as children ate out of garbage cans in the big cities. FDR put known members of the Democrats' KKK on the Supreme Court. No wonder, like Hitler taking the Jews' guns, FDR wanted our tools of freedom. And the Socialist Democrats, to this day, love FDR. They just put another racist Democrat in the Whitehouse. He said allowing blacks in white schools would turn them into racial jungles. He said that in front of news cameras. Churchill also had more than a little racism in him. The Socialist Democrats are killing way over 100,000 could be closer to 200,0000, young Americans every year by letting drugs in from Mexico. About 300 Americans are killed with "assault rifles" every year. It is almost all handguns.

The history of the UK is a history of genocide and democide. You did not stop the Holocaust. American gun owners did. The problem with the US is it took too long to burn the British out of our soul. And it took a Civil War to end the slavery the Europeans dragged to the New World. Although, the Native Americans also had slavery. In the history of civilization, freedom and human rights is a new idea. A government in your part of the world is bombing cities full of children to rubble. Now. Today! America's 120 million gun owners are not bombing cities! And we did not starve millions of Jews to death. Europeans did. Also, "High-powered guns?" Almost all gun crime in the US is handguns! Not rifles.

Those "18-20 yr olds" are under constant command of a supervisor, and trained relentlessly to follow that command. There is a reason the first week of basic training is called "ZERO WEEK" - because you know nothing. And you think that is equivalent to a trained graduate? The military disagrees with you.
That's what the 2nd Amendment guarantees: *Right to keep and present arms in the military* . Militia means Military (it's the 18th century word. George Washington was the leader of our nations militia. "Military" was derived later from that word.)
Anyone getting paid by the NRA knows this full well. And they have talking points to dance around it. Any reasonable person should call out the weapons manufacturing trade organization (NRA) for usurping a club for rifle enthusiasts, and turning it into a government lobbyists organization.
Also: when a kid got a rifle their dad trained them for years before letting them use it unsupervised. That is how it *used* to be. And not a damned one of them ever thought it was a good idea to own, let alone give kids access to, todays semi-auto war weapons. Rifles were bolt action, and praised for their accuracy and craftsmanship of the wood stock. *Not* how fast you can shoot-off a bunch of rounds god knows where.

If I thought banning AR 15's would stop these killings I would be on board with the ban . If I thought laws banning all guns would stop all gun deaths in America I would be on board with that law . If making homicide illegal would help then that would be best of all ? Your president wants to kick 30 some million people off of health care ..including mental health care and yet he blames mental illness for the loss of these kids ? @jeadelmann90 6 ปีที่แล้ว

The bigger picture is that all attempts to strength gun laws are shot down. There's a confluence of problems at play here. Chiefly among them is the NRA's oversized ability to influence policy. Also there's a perplexing deluge of people who seem to not be able to connect the dots between the relative proliferation of weapons in this country and immense amount of shootings that we have. Most Americans support sensible legislation. If we came up with a multifaceted approach we could make a massive dent in these events. But as long as people sit back, throw their hands in the air and blow hot air that prevents sensible change nothing with happen and these shootings will only get worse.
Las Vegas is a prime example... were is the sense in allowing people to have high capacity magazines and stocks that allow weapons to fire massive amounts of ammunition in a short period of time.
Where is the sense in allowing a man like Stephen Paddock to buy a bunch of fire arms over a short period of time. That seems suspicious.

@Troy and Gunner I actually liked how she brought up the fact that what needs to happen is to make it available to see mental illness from the state & not let it slide by. That has got to be the stupidest thing to allow a state to keep certain papers of individuals that may or may not qualify for the purchase of a firearm. How does that make any sense? & then she went after the FBI & the police district for dropping the ball on all of the alerts for this kid. Of course, like normal, the police guy has to turn it back on her & the NRA. This was a disappointing meeting that, of course, went nowhere which was basically what was going to happen no matter what.

There's a large chunk of those people that live among every day regular functioning people. The combination of these factors with trauma and or mental health disorders is what most of the muderers suffer from. If we had a better mental health system more appropriate action could be taken and possibly lead many of these people down the right path.

SkinnySkinch I do not want to get into a argument but please don’t put words into my mouth. I did not say we should take away all guns. What I’m suggesting is that we take away the right to own automatic guns from the regular citizen because those guns aren’t used for hunting or self defense, their used for mass destruction. Look, we obviously can’t confiscate all the guns in America quite easy, I agree with you on that. But what I’m saying is that we put more restrictions now so remove the opportunity of more guns getting into the hands of people who aren’t capable of handling a gun. People who are responsible for school shootings. And since I’m only taking in account automatic guns there’s only a estimated 638,000 automatic guns in America, making the confiscation issue less complicated.

    • @SkinnySkinch
      @SkinnySkinch 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Paige Tang nobody can own an “automatic” gun anymore. You need all kinds of special licenses to own a full auto gun. The only automatic guns any American can own have to be made prior to 1986. Post 1986 automatic firearms were outlawed, except for those who hold very special licenses. What’s your obsession with automatic guns? Not a single automatic gun has been used in ANY mass shooting on record. All mass shootings are with every day purchasable SEMI automatic firearms. Meaning one bullet comes out for each time you press the trigger. Virtually every gun in America is semi automatic, FYI. All pistols, and the majority of all rifles are semi automatic. The only exception being bolt action and lever action guns which are the old western style lever actions and some hunting rifles are bolt action. The Automatic guns you keep referring to are incredibly rare. To buy a pre 1986 fully automatic firearm costs anywhere from $15,000 to $100,000 and even more for more popular rare models. Again, never been used in a mass shooting in recent history.
So if you’re confused about semi and full auto, and you wish to ban all semi auto guns because they are the ones used in mass shootings, that’s frankly impossible. You’d have to ban virtually all guns in existence.

When I first started watching this, I did not know she was the NRA spokesperson. I was confused why the crowd was booing her, from the things she was saying, because she sounded more like a liberal on the gun argument - and so I assumed the crowd was the opposite. Then the crowd cheered for the survivor when she made her comment. Then she explicitly stated she was the NRA representative, and I realized what was going on.
Holy crap. They are saying the exact same things - the concept of more gun control, of making sure "crazy people" don't have access to guns. Sure, maybe the NRA isn't all like her, but you can tell that this woman came prepared to not be listened to just because of who she is, and who she represents - /even if she completely agrees with them./ They did not come here to have a discussion. They came here to villainize someone and express their hatred and anger. They were not listening. No matter what she said, they were not listening. And she was saying the same exact things they were saying: that the system is flawed and background checks aren't working.
    This is scary.
You have a right to be angry when a wrong is done to you. But if you go out trying to actually fix things, to make the world better, you /have/ to work with what you have and make alliances. They could have had an ally there. But instead they let their blind hatred take over to express their fury at a woman who had said nothing wrong and they knew, really, nothing about.
That is really, really scary. Roars of accusation at people who did not cause their pain, blind to logic and reason. It feels like a witch hunt.
Please, if you want to fix things, don't let irrational anger burn you out and all your possible bridges. Think what will actually help in bringing about a better world so that what happened to you will not happen again to others.

An 18 year old here can get a license and do the exact same thing, sure we have round limits but you can still get pump shotguns with 8+1 capacity, handguns with 10 rounds, and 22lr in fully sized magazines. So where are all our shootings? We have 1/10 the population but have nowhere near 1/10th the amount of school shootings that US does. Why? Culture.
