Frank Churchill's music is some of the best ever made for animation. That man was born to compose music for cartoons, and his scores for many of the Disney films from 1930 to 1942 have a wonderful sophisticated synergy with cartoon animation that only a handful of other composers (Carl Stalling, Scott Bradley, Winston Sharples) managed to achieve. One thing that nobody ever brings up is that his score for Walt Disney's "Three Little Pigs" (1933) broke new ground by being the very first cartoon to be scored like a movie. Prior to that, cartoon scores were always cobbled together from a mix of public domain cues, popular music of the day or straight up needle drop cues that the cartoons were built and timed around. Three Little Pigs was the first cartoon (or at least the first western cartoon) to tailor the music directly around the story instead of the other way around--that one innovation was a huge leap forward for the entire medium of animation, and it ended up laying the foundation for so many Disney works afterward. There have many great Disney songs over the decades, but Churchill's scores for the short cartoons and films like Snow White and Bambi are all in a league of their own. I truly believe this guy was in the same league as contemporary movie composers of the time like Max Steiner and Frans Waxman. It was truly a tragedy that his life was cut so short.

1:06 Santas Workshop, directed by Wilfred Jackson, is still shown (only partially because of a current morality disclaimer) during Christmas time in Sweden (from where i was born), going way back to the 1960s. 👍.
