Love it! Love that younger people are gravitating towards a more traditional, classic look and getting rid of the "grey box" look! I've seen enough white farmhouses (and black and white themes...ugh) to last me a several lifetimes! Beautiful classic colors...so pretty! Also embracing the homey, simple look as opposed to trying to make your house look like a glam/high end/shiny/latest trend...bravo!
Thank you! I’ve always loved that kind of look. My hope is that this will prove to be a timeless style that I continue to enjoy enough to where I’ll never want to redecorate haha.
I love the wooden shelf running behind the washer and dryer! The arrangement of the shelving and cabinetry is genius. Decorating with items that hold special memories makes for a joyful space. Your husband is hilarious, lol. Your laundry room is a triumph!
It’s great you let the boys help. I did that when my children were small and did their bedrooms. It makes them appreciate the space more I found. They made it theirs. I always allowed them to pick the colour they wanted too.😊
Sometimes it’s stressful, but I agree with you, they appreciate it differently. Plus, I want to accept any offer for help when they’re willing! 😅 Did you ever feel nervous when letting them choose color? Jackson has free rein of his room decor but we haven’t painted. The time I had mentioned painting his room he said red and I dropped the topic. 😅 Now I feel bad and should at least compromise with one wall. 🤪
We have four sons grown now, with grandsons. I’m new here, but appreciate the little ones being involved. We did this as well. Sometimes the desire is short lived, but let them know they are welcome to help when you have a job the right size. When they want to help, and it’s a job they can’t do, find something like, answering the phone or bringing snacks, and drinks. These rover jobs still make them feel like big boys, and we don’t want paint on the phone and cabinets 😉 As to the color choices, I’ve seen that others have yielded one wall of color too, however for me it would depend on the continued livability of a color. In my experience, giving options of paint colors worked well. If he likes red, because of a favorite sports team, or tractor, etc. show him how the neutral is going to make the red stand out, pillows, curtains, bedcovers and maybe artwork , wallpaper or lamp. Children are like sponges for information, teach him what you’ve learned.thank you so much, for sharing and bringing us into your home.
Your laundry room looks fantastic and you are so funny and I had a lot of giggles. I remember those days long ago when family was young and DIY was only way to make improvements 😊. 80 now, no more DIY 🙁. Enjoy your home ♥️
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. 💕 Take it easy and tag along with us for our DIY shenanigans.😊 My husband has been begging to redo our pantry for the last couple years and I’ve had the itch to do something fun with the wall behind our bed. My soul needs a break from projects for the moment, but I’m sure there will be something we spontaneously decide to make happen sooner rather than later haha.😆
The laundry room turned out beautifully! I love your choice of paints- the dark blue makes a statement but the white and green keep things bright and fresh. The decor is also a favorite.
I would like to point out that this is really the first space that you’ve completely made yours in the house! (I guess you did redo Alec’s room too!) but look how much joy it brings you!!! I vote for more home decor/renovation projects!!!
Yeah, this was the first space that I was able to work on without another person in mind. Josh wants to re-do the pantry and I still want to do the wall behind out bed, but my heart can't take another project right now. 🤣
I’m now curious as to the weight capacity of that lid because I’ve never thought about the actual safety of jumping and sitting on a glass lid. 😬 Me breaking through and plummeting into the washer with shards of glass in my butt would have been an interesting spin to the video. 🤣 Thanks for watching. 😊💕
I sat on my glass topped stove and fell through! Only very minor cuts and scratches, but it was shocking, then frustrating. I only weigh 125 pounds, so stoves apparently can't hold much!
Love the entire room ! I think you set us up for Granny Chic with that robe 😁 I have the same candy dishes (from my mom, granny & aunt) that I repurpose & I love that you are using that. Also I repurposed one of my inherited decanters for my husbands mouthwash. And now I'll have to put one in the laundry room. The striped fabric is perfect ! I used my grannies aprons as curtains, but now they're just hanging in the guest room for my grands to use as "super capes". Disclaimer: I just received my Medicare card 🙁 and I've been "Granny Chic" for decades. I love your "old soul" ~ Nanna Wanda
If I had to choose a piece of clothing that captured me as a person.. that robe would be it. 🤣 I love the idea of using the aprons as capes! That’s so special. Long live “granny chic”! 😆💕 Thank you for watching!!
I just discovered your channel. The video was a delight! Also, I love the clip of you in your bathrobe-I do my best decorating in my bathrobe (not to mention painting, woodworking etc)
Thank you so much for watching!😊💕 That robe gets worn far more than it probably should. 🤣 Especially durning the chilly months! But it sounds like you understand the draw of a robe. 😁
New sub. I have found my people!! We had a ten year kitchen remodel, and have lived in the middle of and through every project. Your space has so much character and charm. Job well done! My husband does the same thing when using a loud tool, and I was a little disappointed not to see your husband find the stud before using it on the wall. 😂 Maybe next time. ❤️
Welcome & thank you for watching! 😊💕 I’m so happy with how it turned out, but I can’t say I’m looking forward to starting any new projects any time soon. 😅 Also, I can almost guarantee that the stud was found and I just didn’t get it on camera. 🤣🤣
I'm a new subscriber and I wanted to say that is the most adorable baby! Omg those cheeks now back to the video. Just had to let you know I adore that sweet baby. I'm sure you know your sooo blessed.
We use the lint when we’re getting fires going in the house and it works pretty well! We still burn other things to get it going but if I don’t have any junk mail (a rare occurrence😅) some lint in a toilet paper tube works wonderfully. Basically if we can burn, compost or recycle something we try to do that before throwing it away. 😂
I was thinking the extra striped fabric would make for good liners for the baskets in your laundry room. You will have to get out your sewing machine to make those, but since you have kiddos it's not a bad skill to pick back up. I had to pick it up when my kids were teenagers so I could make costumes for them. They now have a couple Jedi robes, a Jedi outfit, a ranger cloak, and Hobbit cloak they can use even as adults. I mostly knit now, but I'm itching to get back to sewing again.
I do really like that idea for basket liners and I'll add that to my list of "things I'd like to do.. but realistically probably wont" haha. That's so nice you were able to make fun costumes for them.. and bonus that they can still use them! I'd be ok if I ended up being able to be that kind of mom for my boys. 😊 In the meantime... I'm very seriously considering using hem tape to get that cabinet skirt actually finished. 😅
Everything looks so beautiful! Just found your channel and subscribed. Excited to see your other videos. You may have already answered this, but what is the color of the green cabinet? I absolutely love it!
So good! I was waiting for someone to know what goodness was going on. 😅❤️🍔 Yes, that’s the one. I could spend hours in there (assuming I’m kid free haha).
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns If you are ever in my neck of the woods (literally and figuratively!), check out Van's Drive Thru. They are very similar to Frugals and have the best mixed berry shakes (we're saying real fruit here!). They even have a T-shirt that says "I survived the line at Van's"!
Oh yes!!! That’s a really great idea. I wonder if it will still have the flow of a normal stitch though. Do you know by chance? I desperately want to cut this corner. 😅
That's definitely the direction I'm heading as well. Assuming I actually get around to it at some point. I've been staring at that unhemmed curtain for months now. 😂

A custom made curtain for that little space would cost about ten dollars. I don't see how they could possibly charge a hundred.
