I still keep Gila Monsters( Heloderma Suspectum Cinctum) and Emerald Tree Boas( Corrallus Caninus Caninus) but I love what you have in Africa, have kept alot of venomous also. Yes, it is amazing to see a small Side Winder type viper species that feeds on lizards has similar habitat and soil and through selective pressure, habitat and diet looks remarkably similar to the Pit Viper Side Winder Rattlesnakes of Southwest America.
