Absolutely 💔❤️ That's why I think the Brothers would feel that even in death their Father has still won. Sentenced to life with no parole not even taken into consideration what happened to them as children at the hands of their own parents. Their life changed in that very moment also when they thought they would never see each other ever again. A Soccer punch to the gut. The pain inside would of felt so unbearable. That's punishment enough on top of it all.
@@jin4xed One thing that is admirable about them in a strange way is their love and loyalty towards each other. When many other tandem couples commit crimes they turn on each other either in court or the aftermath blaming each other for planning it or pulling the trigger or what have you. For example, Judd Gray and Ruth Snyder instantly turned on each other the moment the pressure was on. While they were theatrical, the movies The Postman Always Rings Twice and Double Indemnity which were inspired by the case show exactly how the prosecution pressured them and how quickly they threw one another under the bus which didn't work since they were both executed. Another more recent example is Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo. Her testimony against him and characterization of herself as an innocent victim being led by him was so successful that she eventually was released and lives under a different name while he's still in prison. If they don't do that, they still want as little to do with each other as possible. For example Pauline Parker and Juliet Hulme were ordered never to contact each other ever again and it got to the point that even long after they were released and eventually moved to different parts of Britain living within two countries of each other, they not only obeyed that order but didn't want to contact each other remaining tight lipped about their past relationship. Using this song in the beginning of the series, as an inappropriate song the brothers played at their parent’s funeral. And then playing the song again in one of the final, emotional scenes where they get separated… full circle. Such a good artistic choice.
Imagine thinking at that moment that you will never see your brother again forever. If I were in their shoes and they separated me from my sister, I think I would die without a doubt.

You do know they murdered their parents in cold blood, right? I have a feeling you were not alive when this all really happened. They were 100% guilty.
@@markconiglio7769 it's obvious. It was wrong. Totally agree with u. But they thought out of fear that they would die. They did that to survive and escape from their parents: after so many years of abuses, threats and fear, Lyle wanted to reveal everything. But as he and his brother have always been threatened to be killed if they do that, they thought that no one would help them and they will really die, even if it was unreasonable 'cause there was no visible danger. Their fear made them feel this way. I don't justify their crime: it was wrong in any way and justice has been served. But I also think they can be free now. They served enough time in jail.
In this scene I viewed them as brothers being separated and I liked their expressions. Esp the ending moment where Lyle sees the other car disappear and you can see him broken. He doesn't even ask 'where' like Erik does. Because he realizes that maybe he will never see Erik again.
@@cm5733 What was particularly sad was how Lyle behaved in the final scenes after the second verdict. Throughout, he is so cocky, so talkative, aggressive, always coming up with the ideas. In their final scenes, he is so quiet. He's broken, defeated, and has nothing left. He's out of fight and is just exhausted and numb. Significantly, this is when Erik becomes more aggressive and verbal. There is a slight role reversal with their characters as Lyle is the more submissive one and Erik the more dominant when before it was the opposite. Erik tries for an appeal and is still questioning their sentence. But Lyle says hardly anything. Notice at the end, Erik asks where they are taking Lyle and Lyle says nothing. Yeah, my bro passed away unexpectedly from a massive heart attack earlier this year so this part was definitely the saddest, especially where they acknowledged each other one last time before going their separate ways..😢 💔
True. I grew up close with my siblings. And despite we drive each other crazy. I can’t imagine being separated like that. It’s like a part of you is missing.
The ending is so devastating , I am the older child in my family and always I tried to protect my siblings from some abuses that we suffered because my father is a drunk person until now , I understand why they did it , this is no a excuse but I understand them , it is not easy to live with a person who is supposed must look after his or her children and that person did not do it that . Freedom for Lyle and Erick .
They didn't have to be separated. I think it was a punishment they did because the brothers did come from wealth, and people thought they needed to be taught a lesson. My heart cried during this scene. I'm glad they are together now, and I hope they get set free at some point soon.
If you saw that one scene when the attorney Leslie was speaking to the deputy in charge of prison transport, he said they had planned to escape while in jail, and being they were pathological liars, having them together would spell trouble. So that's why they were separated.
@@jackiechan_wtf4041 They planned to escape!!!! 😆😆 Yeah, they had been in prison for 7 years already in minimum security prison and they planned to escape a maximum security prison! Just finished watching this series last night and I gotta say it really impacted me. So many different stories told from so many different points of view I didn't know what or who to believe. To think parents could do that to their own children is truly disgusting if it was true. And then I read the brothers were finally reunited after 22 years and that they broke down in each other's arms. A truly tragic and powerful story.

I didn’t expect this scene to hit like it did, very emotional and well done. The drone shot of their vans going different directions was such a sad moment. That said, I think if the brothers had made it clear they never wanted to see the other again and didn’t want to be in the same prison, the state would have made sure they were cellmates from the beginning.
Man, that broke me, I broke down, n it takes alot to break me, n the thought of not seeing my lil brother, n that happening to us, n picturing him tryin to say bye to me, it broke me down not ashamed to say GODBLESS
I can't believe they were separated for 22 years 😢😢 it's like death for them...dear god... are the judges insane?? why did they do it??and nobody helped them! 😠
The use of Milli Vanilli-songs is spot on because in some way, the bands and the brothers stories are really quite similar. Both were used by powerful people they initially trusted, both lived lies for many years (lies for which they were not responsible) and both took the blame when everything fell apart. The public picked these men apart in the 90s and only now with the awareness of sexual and also racial abuse, people start to understand what was done to these people. And the fact that both stories happened at the same time - followed closely by OJ as also indicated by the show - says so much about the time. Very clever choice of songs indeed.
The way the see each other before being separated… the bond that ties them together forever of having killed their parents… they way they see each gives me chills
I read that one of the brothers said that once they realized they were being separated, they started yelling out for the other one. This was so inhumane.
I use to belt this out with my friends when it first came out - singing awkwardly and horribly (along with their other songs) - and now, having finished the series - I don't think I'll ever listen to the song the same way again (felt that way when I heard it in the beginning of the series - when my mouth dropped in disgust / confusion "did they really use this song??"; and now having finished the series tonight - to my surprise - crying). If you remove yourself from the tragedy, the circumstance, no crime committed - but yet there's a separation in your life from a loved one that you have very little, if any control over - the loss is unfathomable. Put yourself in their shoes - they have to find their peace, their way alone (again, removing the crime from the equation). The great majority of us will never choose the path of violence when we have been so deeply abused, but this is truly a horrible situation ALL around - and I remember when the murders reached the media coverage here in NYC (I was 11).
This was so cruel to the boys who had already suffered so much growing up. It still breaks my heart to think that they couldn't see each other for over 20 years. I am glad they were finally reunited but just imagine what they must have went through all those years. Free them!
That "where" is so haunting like for one moment Erik was that frightened little boy who wanted to stand behind his brother in that fixed position again and know that Lyle would protect him, fight for him, and keep him safe. But there was no Lyle this time.
Y’all I have found my new hyper-fixation. I have been so wrapped up in the case since this show that now it’s all I think about. And I don’t know why but this was so heartbreaking after all they did with and for each other to be forced apart 🥺
This made me tear up. Them going around corners just trying to get a glimpse of each other just to find out it’s the last look for a long time. It’s cruel to separate them. I know they are being punished but man. Then the way the flip this song. In the beginning it was goofy and now it’s so heavy.
They didnt see each other again for 22yrs. It was very cruel how they did them. The fact that their prison records have been clean all these years especially when they went at a time where California prisons were very violent, speaks volumes
When you hear the lyrics: "Couldn't change your point of view...you're leaving.." - I think of the jury and court that didn't believe the brothers that expressed their pain in acting out. Very complex tragic case but its as much about a cycle of abuse and a terrible outcome, but I believe the brothers were genuine in that they lived in fear of their parents. Definitely not the right response, but never estimate what a lifetime of abuse does to a person's development and how trauma affects the fight or flight response differently than it would a healthy young person or adult.
The ending broke my heart. All they ever had was one another. To be separated had to seem like a fate worse than death for them.

You do know they murdered their parents in cold blood, right? I have a feeling you were not alive when this all really happened. They were 100% guilty.
I cried like a punk when the vans separated.
@@markconiglio7769They were getting rape by their dad. I was alive when this happened. Boys have a harder time come out with that kinda abuse.
In this scene I viewed them as brothers being separated and I liked their expressions. Esp the ending moment where Lyle sees the other car disappear and you can see him broken. He doesn't even ask 'where' like Erik does. Because he realizes that maybe he will never see Erik again.
Lyle was more mature and was a part of a Hispanic prison gang Erik was always innocent like a child
Absolutely true 👍
It's like he knew that they weren't going to be even granted that favor of being together.
Yeah I noticed how defeated he looked. Through the whole show he put on a brave face and was optimistic, here it’s like the reality of the situation hit.
@@najajohnson1535 he had to put on a brave face for his little brother. and as soon as his little brother was out of his sight, he finally expressed how he really felt.
I have watched this a week ago. I can't stop thinking about it. Something inside me changed. I am not the same any more. Heartbreaking for the future that was never going to be. Yet the presence at any given time must have been better then the childhood they have had💔
Me either I swear this scene touched me sooooo bad
This scene made me sob so much, knowing they were separated 💔 the song is just sad along with it.
gurl me to everytime i watch it
Speechless.....crying my heart out...!
Me tooooo hun I weep for them during this scene!
It’s like saying goodbye to that 1 best friend you never see again.
This is one of the best scenes ever! ❤😢
I think is the best series I’ve ever seen. And what an ending!
One of the most memorable tv drama scene for me. Praying they will be released soon.
Sobbing my heart out watching these scene, knowing that they only have each other for the rest of their life but no way to be together in the same prison. My best prayer for Lyle and Erik.
I have sobbed and sobbed. These men didn’t deserve this. Thier parents were the monsters. No justice for victims of child abuse.😢
I hate that they called it monsters, they ate not monsters.
@@sammyhiggs4202 yes they are. even if they were actually abused they could've just run away or gone to the cops instead of blasting their parents brutally
@@sammyhiggs4202 i think its bcs directors can't support murderers whatever the reason was, that's why the serie has that title
@@sammyhiggs4202I haven’t watched the show, so I might be off base but I think in this case, “Monsters” has multiple meanings- not just the brutatlity of the act, but the parents, the people who knew and did nothing, the justice system and the media for dismissing and mocking their abuse claims, and seperating them as they did for so long.
This part broke my heart,I could feel their pain
Oh my god.... abused, imprisoned and separated it's horrible... 😭
This scene literally touched my heart. I just can't get it out from my head. Read all the comments and it's shocking how I am not the only one. Everyone found this scene very heart wrenching. The song made it more impactful. Beautiful direction. Beautiful acting. One of the saddest scene I have seen in a long time. And it breaks my heart even more knowing that they reunited after 22 years and broke down after seeing each other.
Erik seemed so scared when asking where his brother was going🥺💔💔
My entire heart broke. They went through so much. 😢
@@patriciasalazar3712But that's no excuse for what they did
2:18.. the way brothers see each other. So pure 😊
Strictly speaking on a human level here, nevermind their actions separating them seems like cruel and unsual punishment.
I get it…but shotguns to their parents…
I agree they suffered enough
Their actions were pretty justified if you ask me.
Ahhh. The poor kids who murdered their parents for their money and $hit all over their names are sad? I'm crying over here.
@@markconiglio7769cmon bru they were sexually abused have some sympathy
These two guys played the roles perfectly.

If you grew up close to your brother this scene hits hard. Being separated from your brother for so long must be heart draining. Thank god they’re reunited.
Me with my siblings. I keep crying
Both these young men are very good actors 👏 👌 👍 they deserve the Emmy 🎉🎉🎉
Man! Why they have to suffer this much pain in their life, how can a person suffer this much pain in their life!!!
Man is the monster series always going to have bangers in every season
Ryan Murphy always hav great music in his shoes. This man is a genius.
Ryan Murphy es un genio espero con ansias temporada 3 🥹
The ending is so devastating , I am the older child in my family and always I tried to protect my siblings from some abuses that we suffered because my father is a drunk person until now , I understand why they did it , this is no a excuse but I understand them , it is not easy to live with a person who is supposed must look after his or her children and that person did not do it that . Freedom for Lyle and Erick .
Makes me appreciate my brother even more now😢
Lyles face when he realises 😢
0:58 song timing and the way they looked at each other, my goodness such a powerful scene!
I can’t understand why this scene gave me such an emotional reaction. Erik look so lost in this moment. Made me sad.
When the cars went to different directions 😭💔
Mörder!
They were made martyrs because OJ got off Scott Free of murder. The media, press and US DA took the absolute piss out of these two lads. The media, the public made them appear pathological liars!
I feel sorry for them! They had disgusting parents who dealt out years of abuse. They created them!
@@jackiechan_wtf4041 It seems you didn't see that the prison chief himself said in the press that the brothers had not planned to escape. That also appears in a documentary on a channel.
@Anva911 I'm talking about the scene in this show, not real life.
I think the hardest moment was when both brothers are already in their cars, and at the end, they look at each other and smile, thinking they’ll be together 2:14 min and then the cars go in different directions. It breaks your heart.
2:19-2:30
That was such a beautiful shot of them smiling at each other in the vans before going separate ways - brilliant emotional weight
This scene really broke my heart. Like what most are saying here...very powerful scene.
I weep for them during this scene I don’t understand how humans have no empathy for these brothers they were born into Hell on earth! This scene is stuck in my head and the song well let’s just say they OWN it now!
Many feelings involved. They were so broken at that very age. Can't imagine their pain. Really devastating
Can't get this song out of my head, i feel for those boys/men so much 😪
Let's talk about the guards who stood side by side so they could say goodbye and see each other for the last time. A heartbreaking scene for these brothers who were abused by their parents. My respect.
Like when they were in the van? Which 2 guards are u talking abt
I just realized it's the same damn song used during Jose and Kitty's funeral in the first episode 😭😭😭

@@liliamfranco2285 I’m Gonna Miss You - Milli Vanilli
Just finished watching this series last night and I gotta say it really impacted me. So many different stories told from so many different points of view I didn't know what or who to believe. To think parents could do that to their own children is truly disgusting if it was true. And then I read the brothers were finally reunited after 22 years and that they broke down in each other's arms. A truly tragic and powerful story.
This will easily become one of the saddest scenes in the movie history
The brothers only had eachother as family seeing them split up in the police vans really touched my soul it’s such a shame to see the only person who ever understood you and loved you being taken away for 22 years! Free Lyle an Erik ❤ one love brothers!!
They reunited in 2018 their in the same prison now
@@traneajones5903 as they should be it was wrong to separate them in the first place
“Only had each other as family” is crazy lol
My god. You guys are such suckers. I was 13 when the first trial started. My grandfather and I watched both trials on court tv. Trust me. They were 100% guilty. They did it all for the money. We all knew it like the oj trial. Don't fall for it. Also.... lot of you young people don't even know about milli vanilli. (People who "sang" this song) look it up.
@@markconiglio7769 you bust been working in a court from the age of 13 to actually be that sure you know the truth, people have there own theories about what happened and about the song and you saying you young people never heard of him this is why music like this is put into a series to bring a old classic back to life PEACE!! ✌🏻
Best scene of the show. I couldn’t stop crying
Me either I weep for them!

This one scene made the whole series memorable.
I can't believe they were separated for 22 years 😢😢 it's like death for them...dear god... are the judges insane?? why did they do it??and nobody helped them! 😠
2:18 heartbreaking 💔
This scene was very sad, in fact with this song that won't leave my head, even if they did wrong things, separating two united brothers is painful.
Killer!
Totally agree just commented the same and then saw your comment. Double entendre.
Yep boy im gonna miss you
I bawly eyes out every time I watch.
The way Erik says “where” 😭
And never got an answer, where Lyle is going.
💔
No matter what they did. Given the tragedy of their lives. They should not have been separated for 22 years.
I agree, separating them like that was just too much, really cruel.
the ending is so saddddddd

The way the see each other before being separated… the bond that ties them together forever of having killed their parents… they way they see each gives me chills
I read that one of the brothers said that once they realized they were being separated, they started yelling out for the other one. This was so inhumane.
This scene was so heart breaking
The song was absolutely perfect for this scene, they didn't see each other for about 15 years.
My heart is hurting for them. Please free the brothers now.
Hope they pair these two great actors up again.
This was so cruel to the boys who had already suffered so much growing up. It still breaks my heart to think that they couldn't see each other for over 20 years. I am glad they were finally reunited but just imagine what they must have went through all those years. Free them!
Ever since I have watched this I cannot stop thinking about it and I keep watching this bit all the time and it breaks my heart
So glad they're reunited today
Powerful sense that
“Youre brother is going someplace else” .. damnnn
That "where" is so haunting like for one moment Erik was that frightened little boy who wanted to stand behind his brother in that fixed position again and know that Lyle would protect him, fight for him, and keep him safe. But there was no Lyle this time.
This is the saddest part ever
Liberté pour les frères Menendez !!
The most emotional part of the series. Couldn't stop my tears. They should have been in same prison
aww that’s so sad I hope they get released soon 😢
I've seen this scene so many times, and it's truly sad.
Y’all I have found my new hyper-fixation. I have been so wrapped up in the case since this show that now it’s all I think about. And I don’t know why but this was so heartbreaking after all they did with and for each other to be forced apart 🥺
The song was perfect it was gut wrenching they shouldn't have been separated glad they are together.
This made me tear up. Them going around corners just trying to get a glimpse of each other just to find out it’s the last look for a long time. It’s cruel to separate them. I know they are being punished but man. Then the way the flip this song. In the beginning it was goofy and now it’s so heavy.
I cried during this scene 💔 😭
Why?
