I am distraught that we may never get a true sequel to phantom pain. The MGS franchise is the most compelling, contemporary dramtazation of our modern day millitary industrial complex. Almost a quarter century later, MGS2 sons of liberty is more relevant today than it was in 2001. Being exposed to these themes as a 9-10 year old has helped me orient towards an inconvenient truth, that the rest of our society chooses to turn a blind eye to. I can't help me revere Kojima as a prophet of sorts. His art has lifted and inspired so many of us. I guess it's just hard to accept we may never get Kojima's conclusion to this saga.

@@OGP2293 Thank you for the kind comment! 🙏 With regards to my opinion - it's possible. Kojima wanted to pass the torch when it comes to Metal Gear for many years. That said, there are many video game directors who parted ways from their studio/publisher, yet the Kojima/Konami split raises numerous questions to this day. Despite Kojima Productions' independent status, if they want to work on another Metal Gear with Konami, they can. And apparently, it's Konami's "dream" to work with Kojima again, according to Producer Noriaki Okamura. - P&S

I want Solid Snake's stories when he was a green berett, a freelancer mercenary between 1995 and 1999 and when he worked along Otacon sabotaging Metal Gears as Philantrophy.
Actually that time frame would be 05-09 with Otacon. Now between 95-99 he was definitely a merc. He was pretty much John Rambo including the PTSD and savage skills. Except he was held up in Alaska. But the loss of friends definitely haunted him. Same with 00-05.
Hopefully, with this reboot MGS Delta, they'll remake, redo the entire series and have spin offs in between . So much lore behind metal to do several games and series. Hoping they keep that awesome fox engine. Perfection.
100% this. IV preached this for years, and I understand why big boss fans are fans of him over SS, but SS just has that edge. There is more to him, and of course the most superior, more in-depth story on the Les enfants terribles project, based on both snakes but mainly solid and his upbringing, his training, his operations and everything would be absolute volcanic!
You know, ever since i was a kid, i always hoped that we could get the "Philantropy" chapters. Gosh that would be so nice. Since the concept to battle against more than 1 metal gear, or multiple gears has been shown in peace walker and mgs2 It would be great to see, how Snake and Hal cleared the World of different gears
Seriously, it seems the philanthropy stuff was basically metal gear solids “clone wars” years if you know what I mean. Sandwiched inbetween 2 major chapters in the saga, and Snake and otacon just taking on threats.
Man, I would love a game that focuses on Liquid and Solid Snake before the events of MGS1, maybe one in which you can take control of both of them during their lives (David as a green beret and Eli as a member of the S.A.S.)
It comes easy for me. There's still so much out there to build theories from. If they never made another game, this series will NEVER die and it will never be game over. 😉

THIS franchise is for the ones who REALLY want to wait for something that is promised for years, and sometimes even things that even DON'T EXIST and we theorize that it's true because we believe in it! There's nothing in this world like metal gear saga, i'm telling you.
I'd like a prequel that explores more of what happens with Snake and Gray Fox prior to MGS1. Maybe a MGS2-style split story where you play part of it as Snake and part of it as Fox. Or, give Gray Fox his own Metal Gear Rising game!

Solid Snake deserved more screen time than Big Boss, I mean BB had 4 games all to himself, while Solid only had two 2D and two 3D games and is now technically dead until either a retcon or a Reboot.
Your damn fucking right dude. Solid snake is the ultimate hero. My favourite of all time. He is so much better than big boss, although.. I do understand the appeal of Jack more now I'm aging. He wasn't a bad guy really, that's just what the world thought. So leave them think it. It doesn't matter. Aslong as you do your best and finish your mission, who cares how many eggs you break aslong as the omelette is perfect? There's more to it ofcourse the hypocrisy around him and the disillusioned ideologies with the political powers that be that used him as a tool to kill a hero who now will forever be remembered as a traitor, the boss was deep as fuck and I had no idea.. But yes solid snake did what noone else could, he chose his own path, made his own choices, and actually finished his mission of saving the entire fucking world from AI and patriot control. The man did more than anyone in the series to save the world and for that, he deserves more games. I'd love to see a younger snake taking on missions for a full OG fox hound squad and the dynamics of their relationships and how they all actually were, snakes comrades, how cool they must be to be in the same class as snake, could be an amazing fucking game. Throw in DLC of Liquid doing his shit in the middle East at the same time (not really knowing of eachother or well alreast) trying to build his skills to kill big boss, his life goal. Or surpassing him, whatever comes first lol I love metal gear man sorry for the tangent but it's my favourite game series ever S snake is the best.

6:02 I never saw this as evidence they've crossed paths. It does seem like Solidus was at least aware of his connection to Snake(as he, like Liquid, knew of his origins and his brothers) yet Snake's response is just him denouncing any familial ties to Solidus. I always assumed Solidus' "don't say you've forgotten me" wasn't to be taken literally, but just him mocking Snake and referencing their connection.
Amazing video guys, I would love to see some kind of Snake solid origins story or even the fight with Venom snake, but to be honest I dont know what to expect anymore, like old Snake said "war has changed" in this case the gaming industry has changed, it is sad in a way, but.. what I do know is that you guys will keep this franchise alive that's for certain, and I hope you will continue that way
Though we may have lost the legendary soldier of fortune back in '08, he lives on in every controller-wielding soldier who adores Kojima's work. Age won't slow us down one bit.
I always preferred solid snake over big boss. Solid surpassed big boss as a warrior, but held onto a sense of what was right and wrong. Snake was betrayed by his mentor, his government, and his body... still, he did what was right and followed through to the end.
Congratz PythonSelkan on yours first video this year! 🐍🎥🎉 To be honest, the parkour concept is tempting but I'd need more substance to it. Would that game be about David's childhood/youth before joining the military, Snake's early career in the Army or the time he and Otacon went Vigilante on the World, exposing and smashing MG's? All of them sounds great to be honest and there is so much potential. Who knows, maybe one day we'll get this game. ☺
I speculate the climbing and parkour elements would work with the Psyche mechanic of MGS4. There could be shortcuts to get behind enemy lines, but you would need to sacrifice some of your psyche to get there.

Solid couldn't have known that George Sears was Solidus during Shadow Moses. He would only have found out after the events of the Shadow Moses Incident and before Sons of Liberty.
It probably happened sometime between the end of MGS1 and the Tanker mission, sometime after the end of 1 Otacon and Snake probably figured out Sears role behind it. They may have crossed paths over Liquids body seeing as Solidus used it to replace Ocelot's arm and Snake and Otacon later stole it to be used as the replacement body for Snake on the Tanker mission.
Solidus went underground soon after Shadow Moses, since he was targeted by the Patriots after his presidency. Him going into hiding until the Big Shell incident leaves chances of an encounter during that time quite limited. There's also the question of how Solid never realized the president of the United States had his face almost identical to his despite George's public image, so one could argue they could also have met before. - P&S
@@PythonSelkan Well, if I remember correctly, Solid Snake was kind of out of the loop regarding politics leading up to the events of Shadow Moses, having been in isolation. Either way, there's a lot of stuff that they could have done there that I think would have been pretty cool.
Also, when I say "couldn't have known," I'm referring to elements of the story as they were presented to us. He couldn't have known because to him, it would have been obvious that something was up if he knew what Sears looked like, and since it was never alluded to in MGS, we have to assume that he knew next to nothing about the administration. *shrug* Also, Snake not knowing he was a clone and being shocked by it lends credence to the idea that he had to know nothing about Sears' physical appearance.
That would have been my ultimate entertainment dream come true: Solid Snake learning from Jackie Chan movies and then performing his parkour moves. I could die with no regrets after playing this game.
Fun fact, if you choose the solid snake skin on certain missions in tpp the dialog doesn't change but those missions can be played like the missions of solid snake before shadow Moses. Make his origin story your own
I want an MGS game that follows Eli and Baby Mantis after Phantom Pain putting together a team of kid versions of the rest of the cast. Baby Vulcan Raven, Baby Sniper Wolf, etc. I want it to look like a Yoshi’s Island game.
When Solid yells "Stop impersonating him!" I understood it to mean that he's impersonating Big Boss. And since Solidus is a clone of Big Boss, it makes sense. I didn't think that he knew a younger Solidus/Sears. But who knows, I guess.
I think playing as The Boss while she and Solid Snake develop CQC at the same time doing missions with the both of them together showing us just how much of a warrior she is would be great.
i know i'm commenting before watching... but we had the Origin of snake in Metal Gear. and then a continuation in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. unless there was a plan to show the immense friendship and brotherly love Frank Jeager and Snake had before he was turned into a cyborg ninja and maybe even the reason he defected. i can't remember which snake said it, but on the battlefield, they wasn't friends, they were soldiers and they both knew what they had to do, despite how they live life outside of war. so... yeah... i saw the posted video and just HAD to get over here. you've never let me down in all these years Python. i remember when you didn't use your voice. oh the joy when i didn't have to read anymore!
Solid Snake is my favorite character and one of the most mysterious ones! There's just so much about him that's only assumed and never explained; like his parkour abilities, cqc and infiltration skills!
Snakes first mission was in 1995, he would have been 22... It would be awesome to see the first game remade with a slightly more serious tone that also tied into the mythos of the Solid series. Foxhound training should be demonstrated also to show how grueling it is on new recruits and that only a select few are actually chosen. This would rule!!!
I still hope for a future port of MGS4 to modern consoles and PC. I still feel an easy win would be a remake of MG1 and 2. Hell even make it an anime or something, but I’d love to see a fully fleshed out Bond between Snake and Grey Fox
Now that I’m thinking about that, there is an AC’s comic which narrates Nikolai Orelov’s story. The cool thing is that his character design was similar to thay MGS4 April Fool Old Snake.
i always wanted for them to at least retell the first 2 chapters and allow us to experience some of snake's early missions cause we heard so much about them, especially zanzibar. would be cool to run through david's youth and see his upbringing into the battlefield
Konami has a studio in LA now, I’ve driven past it. I also think Solidus was pretending to be Big Boss, having referenced MG 1 and 2 where Snake had met Big Boss on the battlefield, so I dunno if he was actually saying he and Solid had met before.
I love this idea, but I can’t help realizing that if my biggest dreams were to come true, I would, myself, be an old man before I got three more games.
If the re-make the original Metal Gear they could add something prequel before the original mission. That's why i will them to remake MG & MGSS not MGS
The recent progress in PS3 emulation has had a huge resurgence in MGS4 interest (including myself because console wars and xbot). It's a shame Konami didn't have the foresight to eventually port MGS4 to other systems or at least a master collection release. Whether it be console war loyalty nonsense, inability to purchase a PS3/PSP in the past/present or just unaware of their quality and existence. Peace Walker and MGS4 were two games a lot of Metal Gear fans have never been able to enjoy. IMO, Guns of the Patriots not Snake Eater was the game we deserved, if not the one we need right now. Great stuff as usual, sir.
Not much mentioned about his childhood, only the story of him in and out of foster homes, he enlisted when he was in his teens, the patriots were counting on that, for him to become a soldier like his original, his father, Big Boss
I’m sure it’s too late now, but I would have loved to have seen a series of prequel/spinoff games with the boss and her cobra unit during World War I prior to snake eater as well as missions involving solidus prior to sons of liberty when he was in Liberia, etc. I know many of the voice actors for those games are either dead or retired. And it would be hard to be a full metal gear game since these units would obviously not be fighting against a large world ending mech. Maybe the cobras can sabotage a giant German panzer tank built similar to peace walker’s cocoon AI weapon? Someone in the thread also mentioned playing as solid snake when he was in the green berets prior to operation intrude N313.
I think that would have been cool to see Solid Snake's origin story form childhood to joining Fox hound. It could have tied into the Phantom Pain seeing as David would have been been the same age as Eli at the time.

Tbh. I would take anything mgs themed game, but something like mg survivor. I just hope Delta is releasing soon it seels super good and we can enjoy more of mgs in the future
Otacon has always been the other side of the coin to Solid Snake. So I would imagine their childhood/young adulthood would be (thematically) opposites. Hal grew up around a mother and sister. Enjoyed anime. So David would be raised without siblings by many foster parents. And probably denied any interests like hobbies.
Kojima killed our favorite character and voice actor. To hell with him, I couldn't care less of him. Snake's youth could be awesome and also during that Philanthropy operations before MGS 2 events.
Honestly don't really care for an Solid origin game at this point. i saw a idea in twitter for a Liquid game based on his time on the Gulf war as a SAS agent, and that intruged me so much. i prefer that game over this
Yeah about that parkour part, all ninja based characters should have been involved with. Mr X, Olga, Vamp, and Raiden. It would have explored those quite well.
I just found something interesting guys MGS1 the fight with mantis before he tells us about the path we take I think there’s a hidden reference when they ban on the broken glass I found this out while playing today it reminds me of when venom snake breaks the glass
Kojima could have explored that in a remake of the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. This could have been an opportunity for Kojima to expand on the originals. I think the recasting of Keifer Sutherland as Big Boss would have also worked in this case. While I know Kojima has a history of being an ass to David Hayter, he could have extended an olive branch and quashed the beef by recasting him as Solid Snake against Keifer Sutherland's Big Boss in the remakes.
I would like to see Solid Snake as apart of foxhound right before MG1 and MG2 from MSX/NES... Just imagine Big Boss as your CO and you start as Grey Fox in the prologue sneaking into Outer Heaven and then getting caught. Bam, introduce Solid Snake with a battalion of Greet Berets in Afghanistan invading a base right after.... You can tell a deep origin story with the rookie and then flash forward Solid Snake infront of Big Boss for the start of MG1......

Hey python, if liquid is Big Boss's clone, why does he look like Kaz, he just needed a glass and pull back hair to look like Kaz, they even sound the same, Big Boss and David have same VA Kaz and Liquid have same VA. Hal and Huey have same VA by this pattern, they must be related right? Blonde hair says a lot. Since jack and Kaz fought, Kaz must've proved himself to be worthy and even became 2nd in charge It would also mean some of boss, ocelot and son if Kaz liquid both fought son if Jack. Both jack had a bitter sweet relationship with ocelot ofcourse, Kaz (truth ending in PW) and also the boss. And canonically Jack fought the other 3 and won and his son fought the 3's sons and won too.

All I want is a release date for delta. I am bored of playing RE4 remake, Leon has complained to me time and time again that I keep replaying his most popular mission. He also keeps asking me when Snake is coming back so Leon can take his well deserved vacation.
Personally, I never understood Kojima's and fans infatuation with big boss, mgs3 was a good concept and it should have stayed at one game, telling how he became the villain, but by making more games about him all kojima did was ridiculously convolute an already convoluted story, and in the end he fell in love with him so much that he even didn't have the heart to let him stay a villain, wich would have made him a way more interesting character, solid had way more exciting blank spots in his story that would have made for way better games, that's the problem with nerdy types,they always fall in love with the "bad guy" characters, it's kinda lame really.

To me, Solid is the main character of MGS. Surely, Boss is also great, but Solid is "the" Snake.
The Snakes always fight the Bosses. Not because they want to... But because there is no one else.

@Shycartel As far as I know, he only had the ones from MSX and MGS1 and 4, the rest are either special appearances or non-canonical spin-offs.

I never saw this as evidence they've crossed paths. It does seem like Solidus was at least aware of his connection to Snake(as he, like Liquid, knew of his origins and his brothers) yet Snake's response is just him denouncing any familial ties to Solidus. I always assumed Solidus' "don't say you've forgotten me" wasn't to be taken literally, but just him mocking Snake and referencing their connection.

Amazing video guys, I would love to see some kind of Snake solid origins story or even the fight with Venom snake, but to be honest I dont know what to expect anymore, like old Snake said "war has changed" in this case the gaming industry has changed, it is sad in a way, but.. what I do know is that you guys will keep this franchise alive that's for certain, and I hope you will continue that way

I always preferred solid snake over big boss. Solid surpassed big boss as a warrior, but held onto a sense of what was right and wrong. Snake was betrayed by his mentor, his government, and his body... still, he did what was right and followed through to the end.

To be honest, the parkour concept is tempting but I'd need more substance to it. Would that game be about David's childhood/youth before joining the military, Snake's early career in the Army or the time he and Otacon went Vigilante on the World, exposing and smashing MG's? All of them sounds great to be honest and there is so much potential. Who knows, maybe one day we'll get this game. ☺

I speculate the climbing and parkour elements would work with the Psyche mechanic of MGS4. There could be shortcuts to get behind enemy lines, but you would need to sacrifice some of your psyche to get there.

Solid couldn't have known that George Sears was Solidus during Shadow Moses. He would only have found out after the events of the Shadow Moses Incident and before Sons of Liberty.
It probably happened sometime between the end of MGS1 and the Tanker mission, sometime after the end of 1 Otacon and Snake probably figured out Sears role behind it. They may have crossed paths over Liquids body seeing as Solidus used it to replace Ocelot's arm and Snake and Otacon later stole it to be used as the replacement body for Snake on the Tanker mission.
@FXDE-zu8kj That's probably exactly what happened. It also could have been the 2 years between the tanker and Big Shell.
Solidus went underground soon after Shadow Moses, since he was targeted by the Patriots after his presidency. Him going into hiding until the Big Shell incident leaves chances of an encounter during that time quite limited. There's also the question of how Solid never realized the president of the United States had his face almost identical to his despite George's public image, so one could argue they could also have met before.

@@PythonSelkan Well, if I remember correctly, Solid Snake was kind of out of the loop regarding politics leading up to the events of Shadow Moses, having been in isolation. Either way, there's a lot of stuff that they could have done there that I think would have been pretty cool.
Also, when I say "couldn't have known," I'm referring to elements of the story as they were presented to us. He couldn't have known because to him, it would have been obvious that something was up if he knew what Sears looked like, and since it was never alluded to in MGS, we have to assume that he knew next to nothing about the administration. *shrug* Also, Snake not knowing he was a clone and being shocked by it lends credence to the idea that he had to know nothing about Sears' physical appearance.
There's a lot of potential in an origin story and also a remake of the MSX ones.
I still would very much love a remake of the first two MG games. Theres a lot to expand on there alone.

That would have been my ultimate entertainment dream come true: Solid Snake learning from Jackie Chan movies and then performing his parkour moves. I could die with no regrets after playing this game.
Fun fact, if you choose the solid snake skin on certain missions in tpp the dialog doesn't change but those missions can be played like the missions of solid snake before shadow Moses. Make his origin story your own
I want an MGS game that follows Eli and Baby Mantis after Phantom Pain putting together a team of kid versions of the rest of the cast. Baby Vulcan Raven, Baby Sniper Wolf, etc. I want it to look like a Yoshi’s Island game.
When Solid yells "Stop impersonating him!" I understood it to mean that he's impersonating Big Boss. And since Solidus is a clone of Big Boss, it makes sense. I didn't think that he knew a younger Solidus/Sears. But who knows, I guess.
I think playing as The Boss while she and Solid Snake develop CQC at the same time doing missions with the both of them together showing us just how much of a warrior she is would be great.

unless there was a plan to show the immense friendship and brotherly love Frank Jeager and Snake had before he was turned into a cyborg ninja and maybe even the reason he defected. i can't remember which snake said it, but on the battlefield, they wasn't friends, they were soldiers and they both knew what they had to do, despite how they live life outside of war.

Solid Snake is my favorite character and one of the most mysterious ones! There's just so much about him that's only assumed and never explained; like his parkour abilities, cqc and infiltration skills!
Oh it's explained. But you're right there's not much about it. To the best of my knowledge he was trained by Miller and Big Boss.
Solid needs his own "Snake Eater" treatment.
Snakes first mission was in 1995, he would have been 22... It would be awesome to see the first game remade with a slightly more serious tone that also tied into the mythos of the Solid series. Foxhound training should be demonstrated also to show how grueling it is on new recruits and that only a select few are actually chosen. This would rule!!!
I still hope for a future port of MGS4 to modern consoles and PC. I still feel an easy win would be a remake of MG1 and 2. Hell even make it an anime or something, but I’d love to see a fully fleshed out Bond between Snake and Grey Fox

Konami has a studio in LA now, I’ve driven past it. I also think Solidus was pretending to be Big Boss, having referenced MG 1 and 2 where Snake had met Big Boss on the battlefield, so I dunno if he was actually saying he and Solid had met before.
I love this idea, but I can’t help realizing that if my biggest dreams were to come true, I would, myself, be an old man before I got three more games.

The recent progress in PS3 emulation has had a huge resurgence in MGS4 interest (including myself because console wars and xbot). It's a shame Konami didn't have the foresight to eventually port MGS4 to other systems or at least a master collection release. Whether it be console war loyalty nonsense, inability to purchase a PS3/PSP in the past/present or just unaware of their quality and existence. Peace Walker and MGS4 were two games a lot of Metal Gear fans have never been able to enjoy. IMO, Guns of the Patriots not Snake Eater was the game we deserved, if not the one we need right now. Great stuff as usual, sir.
Not much mentioned about his childhood, only the story of him in and out of foster homes, he enlisted when he was in his teens, the patriots were counting on that, for him to become a soldier like his original, his father, Big Boss
I’m sure it’s too late now, but I would have loved to have seen a series of prequel/spinoff games with the boss and her cobra unit during World War I prior to snake eater as well as missions involving solidus prior to sons of liberty when he was in Liberia, etc. I know many of the voice actors for those games are either dead or retired. And it would be hard to be a full metal gear game since these units would obviously not be fighting against a large world ending mech. Maybe the cobras can sabotage a giant German panzer tank built similar to peace walker’s cocoon AI weapon? Someone in the thread also mentioned playing as solid snake when he was in the green berets prior to operation intrude N313.
I think that would have been cool to see Solid Snake's origin story form childhood to joining Fox hound. It could have tied into the Phantom Pain seeing as David would have been been the same age as Eli at the time.

Otacon has always been the other side of the coin to Solid Snake. So I would imagine their childhood/young adulthood would be (thematically) opposites. Hal grew up around a mother and sister. Enjoyed anime. So David would be raised without siblings by many foster parents. And probably denied any interests like hobbies.
Not only do we need a young solid snake origin's story has a game... but we also need a young The JOY "THE BOSS origin story game...

Kojima could have explored that in a remake of the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. This could have been an opportunity for Kojima to expand on the originals. I think the recasting of Keifer Sutherland as Big Boss would have also worked in this case. While I know Kojima has a history of being an ass to David Hayter, he could have extended an olive branch and quashed the beef by recasting him as Solid Snake against Keifer Sutherland's Big Boss in the remakes.
A metal gear and metal gear 2 remake would be fully warranted now and a parkour simulator like vr missions as an add on/money grab will get my money

All I want is a release date for delta. I am bored of playing RE4 remake, Leon has complained to me time and time again that I keep replaying his most popular mission. He also keeps asking me when Snake is coming back so Leon can take his well deserved vacation.
Personally, I never understood Kojima's and fans infatuation with big boss, mgs3 was a good concept and it should have stayed at one game, telling how he became the villain, but by making more games about him all kojima did was ridiculously convolute an already convoluted story, and in the end he fell in love with him so much that he even didn't have the heart to let him stay a villain, wich would have made him a way more interesting character, solid had way more exciting blank spots in his story that would have made for way better games, that's the problem with nerdy types,they always fall in love with the "bad guy" characters, it's kinda lame really.
