    I have never met a glass jar that I have not needed to keep! Periodically I have to, sadly, sort through my stock and part with those I haven't used due to lack of storage. I love all your videos and thank you so much for everything that you share....I have one request, stop apologizing as you are wonderful and those who may be offended are probably miserable to begin with. We who follow you just appreciate you so much!🥰

    I have a healthy collection of glass tomato sauce jars. They are so beautiful and look like mason jars. I feel guilty throwing them away and would gladly donate but no one seems to want them. We are running out of sand so some day these little jars will be sought after. Thanks for the video and the great suggestions!

    Fun fact: the green lid from shelf stable Parmesan cheese and the lids from standard peanut butter jars fit regular mouth mason jars. The lids from large peanut butter jars fit wide mouth mason jars.
    The Parmesan cheese lids are handy because they have the sift and pour sides.

    I buy a a brand of pizza sauce in a mason jar, it’s a smaller size and makes a perfect glass to drink from! I love jars! 😂 probably too much I save them all. My husband says I’m like my grandmother who grew up during the Great Depression. She would wash out her plastic bags and reuse them before recycling was a thing. She also would reuse her paper towels… lol I thought she was crazy when I was a child but here I am saving all my jars!

    I have a large tea diffuser for a 1/2 gallon Mason jar. 2T of Upton Tea's TB49K with 160F water steeped for 3 min. I make three to five of these a day and cover the jar with plastic lids. I transfer to a pitcher as they cool down. No ice; just cold tea. I use a 24 oz (or is 22?) for keeping my sourdough starter fed. I use many sizes of Mason to ferment things like Cortido using Manzano peppers. I also have used them to "accelerate" curing tobacco by putting jars in the sun for a long time with a blend of flavored ethanol - I don't smoke but have family that are addicted.

    Great video!! I got a cold brew insert from mason tops. I use it on a quart or half gallon jar for coffee or any type of infusion! I use my jars for tinctures (before straining) or infusing oils and the plastic tops work well to cap them. I was just looking at the silicone inserts for that reason but I’m on the fence.
    I also just purchased the pour lids because I was constantly making a mess when I’d pour my kefir lol.
    Someone else mentioned saving glass jars - I do that too and use them when I give away dried herbs and what not so I’m not losing my good jars lmao

      @@OurGabledHome ummm… But it has to be “refreshed” with mammal’s milk every other time (or every few. I’ve never done it.) because the beneficial bacteria NEED lactose to survive. That’s what they “eat”.
      And it doesn’t have to be “just” almond milk. Coconut, rice, and other plant “milks” can also work. As long as it continues to be “refreshed” with mammal milk! ❤

    You are not supposed to use metal on kefir grains. Apparently it affects the nutrients of the kefir. Instead use a wooden spoon to take out the grains from the top of the kefir. Transfer them into a new jar and then add milk for a new batch.

    • @willowwhyte1104
      @willowwhyte1104 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s only partially correct. We’re not supposed to use metal that leaches/rusts, such as iron, aluminum, tin, silver, etc. It’s perfectly safe to use stainless steel. ❤
