Tom Tjaarda first did the design as a one-off Pininfarina coupe body for the 1963 Corvette called La Rondine (Swallow). It is still around and last time at auction went for around 1.5 million When Tjaarda got the commission for a new sports car for FIAT, he based it off La Rondine, keeping the swallow tail rear end and the lovely side accent line. The front end of the 124 is actually an improved design compared to the original. I owned a 1970 124 when I was young and living in sports car country. The most charming car I ever owned.
Lovely !
