This guy is one of my main inspirations, met him at the only show they played in hawaii and he was the coolest dude ever.

Blake always has the sickest Tama starclassic kits. His other custom starclassic bubinga hyperdrive kit is absolutely amazing as well as this maple one and live his kits are the best sounding drums I’ve ever heard in my life and I’ve seen so many amazing bands and drummers live but I think he has the best live drum sound. His kit is always consistently tuned perfectly.
It sounded so effortlessly perfect! He has this Tama kit DIALED IN.

Suggestion- have them actually hit ALL the cymbals at least once a piece so we can hear them. That would rule! (If they are down) thanks for the awesome run downs bro!
If we have time, we can try that once. We are usually up against too tight of a clock to get samples of the kit.

YES! My dude, another great hear rundown video; super informative. I’d never heard of 2BOX and as it may be the answer to some triggering issues I’ve had, I’m now looking into purchasing a module. Loving this direction versus ones where the drummer’s like, “I don’t know anything about my gear, I just play it because it’s here/looks cool”😂😂😂. Had never heard of these guys but going to TH-cam Blake and his kit in action. Thanks again!
Dude, go listen to their Alaska album, Blake's first one with them, it's one of the best of all time and def in my top 10!

Dude must of not enjoyed the music he played then. This guy is on point with the band, and we are thankful for it.
I really like the triggered kicks and don't understand the hate that it gets. Especially with heavy bands, if you can't hear the kicks live, it doesn't feel good. When you can hear them clearly it's just awesome
It's just drummers hating that they can't get the drums to sound like that, they don't have the money to trigger, and can't keep the feet going.

we are doing these very quick and dirty, we generally just take a stereo feed from front of house, or the monitor mix engineer… We aren't doing much editing or mixing on the audio tracks since its just a direct stereo feed, but its certainly better than recording it straight into the camera or an iPhone!
