They were super good. I wish they had been recorded on video playing together. That would have been neat to see. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a wonderful day, Brian
I first heard of these guys from a guy in Hartwell, Georgia (probably dead with old age now; hell, he was ancient then) who had seen them play several times when he was a young man. Said they liked their whisky and women. Guy gave me his recipe for home brew.
Rumor has it that a film clip of them playing together was shown in movie theaters before features circa 1930 to promote their tours, but I haven't been able to confirm this.
@shal0mnurh0me Yes, this and "Give the Fiddler a Dram" are the same tune. There are also tunes called "Give the Fiddler a Dram" that sound nothing like this.
Just pure Talent on that Fiddle.
That was incredible.

My father recalled seeing them play in then rural Lawrenceville, Georgia. We went to see one of Tanner's descendents, grandson I think, play.
That's so cool.

Everyone loves whiskey and women..I'm pretty sure it's in the bible

The fiddle player, Clayton McMichen, is related to my late grandfather, an uncle I think.
This group is great

yeeeehoooo! LIVE ACTION!!
The high pitched voice is none other than gid tanner, contributing comical asides capping off Puckett's main lyrics
I was sure it was a lady.
@@a54109 I just realized and i have been a fan of the group for over 10 years haha
Great stuff.
I have the theory, that the skillet lickers recording studio must of not had the 1925 western electric recording machine (too bad)
