As Corsicans we do not want to be slaves nor "rebels" and as Italians we have the right to be treated like all the other Italian brothers.... Either we'll be free or we'll be nothing.... I am sorry to inform you that Corso in not Italian , it was a dialect and now it is considered a separate language with its own characteristics , the language is not alive and well , most children do not learn corso as a first language and you will have no peer pressure to learn it, an Italian would have some hardship understanding corso at his first exposure to the language , obviously it is very close to Italian , but you'll never learn it just by living in Corsica since even new generations of Corse people don't know it and had to learn it at school .Basically the corse language is kept alive for cultural reasons , and it's like Irish gaelic

Lovely slice of life as always. When I was about to move countries, I found it oddly comforting in the process of sorting out all of the logistical aspects of my new life. It's of course challenging, but in a way there's a blue-print for it, I knew I could get an apartment/cell phone/health insurance sorted eventually, but I really struggled building a social life from scratch, and I appreciate how open you've been with your experience. Thank you so much for this series. I am old enough to be your mother but still find your experience so inspiring. I am at a point in life where, for so many years now, it's as if I have no life; I'm not even living. I spent two weeks in rural Southern Italy house-hunting in 2018 and have been obsessed with moving there and creating a new beautiful life ever since. For me, my biggest fear is being older and not having - or knowing how - to create an independent online source of income. Your videos are so lovely and you are such a charming, beautiful, and gentle soul. I once wanted to be a writer, and wrote poetry. I've lost all the things I once loved: literature, poetry, flowers, nature, books, art; all of these have been lost to an endless grind of soul-sucking meaningless work, crime and endless wildfire smoke, traffic and worse, here in California. I actually hate it here so much! Anyway, you remind me of a younger version of myself, when I was full of dreams and hope. All the best to you, Kylie.

OMG, I can sooooooo relate when you talk about the costs of going out with friends! This is years ago now, but I used to hate that I ate something simple, no drinks, but still had to pay for a (for me, considering) gigantic bill divided up evenly. And I was upset not because I was strapped for cash, but because I didn’t think it fair to have to pay for something I didn’t consume. And nobody gave it a second thought. Now that may make me a scrooge (which I don’t think I am), if yes, so be it.

Especially with the ‘older’ ladies they most of the time get their hair done almost every week.

I live in Rome and know quite a few expat groups who are very open to Italians joining in, resulting in very heterogeneous groups. Quite a few romances have resulting from this, too - between the expats and Italians.

That it can be done and here’s what it will take. You seem to live a charmed life ...but not without major effort, that if can be had. Most of this comes from from knowing oneself and then you provide the know how. You’re an inspiration...

How about just being your perfect, authentic self, instead of a poor copy of someone else? Just a thought. It will also help you to meet a better kind of person who values genuineness over superficiality. To make a "Bella figura" in Italy, or anywhere, means more than superficial, surface appearances. I spend half of each year in southern Italy and this has worked well for me, for years. And besides-I definitely don't share the southern fashion sensibilities, which I find incredibly tacky.

I didn’t mean it like I said it. Should have taken a minute longer to make my self more clearly.
I don’t want to copy. For me it’s more about inspiration and i know that Kylie has incredibly good taste so I would simply love a video about fashion from her. Especially since she was in the making of a clothing line I believe.
I am from Europe myself. Germany and my father is half Italian. I know the Tourists who try to „copy“ but I see it more as a compliment for the German woman and men and their more typical fashion style. And to be honest who doesn’t love to feel apart of something? :)
I am in Italy myself right now. And i just really admire the Italian woman and girls and how some put such a nice effort in to their appearance. I want to take more effort in how I present myself to make me feel my best self. And i take inspiration from them.
And Thats what it’s all about, isn’t it ? Inspiration and then the Motivation to be our best selfs for ourselves!
I love myself and I want every woman and men to love themselves!
Oh and i thank you for your advise: that It will help me find someone that’s not superficial;) you are quit right and I am lucky to have found someone that loves the true me! And i am happy for you if you found the same. And yes the Bella figura is not much about appearance and more about how you carry your self and how you take care of yourself!
Well I just wanted to convey what I truly meant a little better.
The comment above was written in a hurry and in utter excitement that Kylie might do a fashion video. So I excuse myself and thank you for your advise/ concern again :)

I've started getting the urge to move to Italy about 2-3 times every week recently. When you compare that life, simple or less simple, to what we have in North America's cosmopolitan cities: crazy cost of housing, no soil that comes with it. Versus in Italy you can grow things practically anywhere, land is a quarter of the price with 5x more area for the dollar, the soil is fertile. It seems insane that North Americans keep living like we do, with all our vegetables designed and grown for "shelf life" instead of "life". If you become rich you can buy a detached home in SF, Seattle, New York, etc. But those are rare odds. Want to know what's far higher odds? Your odds of learning Italian, or French, or Spanish, or Greek and enjoying the simple life in the Mediterranean.

Informative as always. I am very interested in fashion advice. I do like the stylish Italian looks but for men it is hard to know the simplest and best ways to dress when in Europe. I am in New Zealand and like Australia we tend to be casual/sloppy/comfortable but it is hard to find Italian (or French) style advice because people who know tend to be in the business of selling $3,000 suits and $900 shoes so advice where the advisor isn't trying to sell you something would be welcomed.

stumbled across your video and it brought back some fond memories for me whilst I watch your video here in San Francisco, California. I am from the UK, and now live in the States; I took my wife to Italy for our honeymoon back in 2011, it was memorable!!! We started in Roma and stayed in Trastevere, for one week, then onto to Florence, via Siena. Siena was amazing, we stayed just outside the square, it reminded me of the Bond movie Quantum of Solace, pretty amazing. Then onto to Florence, which was also amazing, lastly to Lake Como, it was George Clooney's birthday when we went, so there was quite a bit of paparazzi around, we also managed to visit the legendary, Villa d'Este which was epic.
The best part was the stop we made in between Roma and Siena, it was a small 14th century town, Greve in Chianti. It was made extra special, as we had lunch and the salad had an amazing dressing. We asked the waiter where they got the oil from for the dressing, and he mentioned it was only sold to commercial vendors; he came backa nd then pointed to a hill..... . We drove up to this hill and rang the bell outside a huge steel gate, the gate opened and we continued driving up this steep ravine, at the top was an old Italian lady with her daughter and husband. We said hello and they greeted us as friends, it turned out to be a holiday cottage, where guest come during harvest time, and learn out to pick the vegetables and grapes from the vines and cook with the family on the farm. It is something we want to do again with our kids.
We asked for the olive oil, I took six bottles and signed the guest book which was located in the wine cellar which was nice and cool and tucked away from the rest of the house. The location was Greve in Chianti. Website :: www.poderecampriano.it - amazing location
An epic adventure of our Italia trip,
After Lago di Como, onto to Milan, onto to London and then back to JFK as we lived on the east coast at the time.
Very envious of your adventures, Kylie, keep up the great work.
    Cheers, Ravi

Thank you Kylie for these videos. I moved to northern Tuscany 9 years ago. I made the move alone, which is courageous as I'm a woman, and since then I have settled in. But even now, my Italian isn't so great because I stay home a lot. I'm 72 haha with a very youthful spirit. But I do get out and travel when I can. For a few years I taught English to Italians, and I have bought an ancient stone house that I renovated. So no rent anymore. Yay! But I don't have money to spare. I am on a tight "pensione" budget. I have a few Italian friends, but they are younger and have young families, so our lifestyles are different. I don't like hanging out with other expats much. My apologies to all. I have one couple I'm friends with from the UK and are my age who have a house here and have been coming to Italy for most of their lives. But we only get together a few times a year. Anyway, your videos make me realize what an enormous transition I have achieved at my age. Like you, I have traveled the world most of my life, but Italy called to me. And I have never wanted to leave Italy since I've arrived. I have an adult son with a wife and two grandchildren in California who I see once or twice a year (I do the traveling, not this year though). Anyway, I think a well-thought-out adventure at any stage in life is worth the risk and the challenging times that may come with it. God bless you. Keep up your excellent work.

So helpful and interesting to hear the differences of living in Italy compared to other locations! Things like fast internet we take for granted in many places and these utilities add up quickly! It's really admirable that you've thrown yourself so completely into a new culture and I truly appreciate your vulnerability in sharing the pros & cons of challenging yourself this way. I love traveling alone because it makes us stronger and more independent women and I can't wait to be able to see Italy some day!
