Mechforce Mechtorch Ti: In-Depth Review

  • I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: The Mechforce Mechtorch is a flashlight that punches well beyond its price point.
    No, the base components aren’t anything new, and it’s just another flashlight in a sea of triples. But the price point ($180 and $200 for the Lite and Turbo versions, respectively) is out of the ballpark. Especially for titanium, you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck.
    The quality isn’t quite up there with true custom flashlights, but you’re getting equal performance and comparable quality with some of the best the upper-echelon of the flashlight world has to offer. And all at a ridiculously good price.
    Where I purchased mine: urbanedcsupply...
    I highly recommend purchasing from this site. Their generous reward program and customer service are amongst the best out there. If you're outside of CA, this is the best price too.

    Thank you for making this video and pointing out these issues! This is our first flashlight products and we are still learning about flashlight designs. We will improve the design on the next flashlight.

    I got one of the turbo models and really like it. My only problem has been that my daughter kidnapped it and I haven't gotten it back yet! Great overview. Spot on with the strengths and weaknesses. I can add that the customer service has been really easy to work with. I also appreciate how the folks at Mechforce seem responsive to the community and want to make improvements to their first run. I don't think the Mechtorch can be beaten for the money.

      @@Precogvision Received my Mechtorch today. I confirm that the glow is quite intense. The threads did not feel too gritty compared to my 4Sevens MkII Ti or Maratac AA Ti. Just out of curiosity, if you would do the dragon mod, which secondary color would you pick and why. I read you Lux-RC minion review where you picked amber since your boss had red. Is there a color you preferred or it's kinda moot. Any thoughts on blue or green?

    • @Precogvision
      @Precogvision  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loriskim Sorry I didn't see your comment, been busy this whole week! Glad to see you got one of your own! Threading isn't bad for titanium, but still isn't comparable to the higher-end customs I've handled. I would probably go Red/Amber, I don't have a preference between the two in all honesty. I don't have a practical use for Blue/Green and never really understood the allure of the colors unless you're a hunter (blue for tracking blood, green to conceal your presence from animals).

    How would you put tritium in the bezel ? I just picked one of these up and that would be cool.

    • @Precogvision
      @Precogvision  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Norland 61 and cure it with UV or sunlight is the best way to put tritium in there.

    18350 is annoying. Yet another battery type and less popular. They should go with CR123, or move up to 18650.

    • @Precogvision
      @Precogvision  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well, there are a myriad advantages to 18350 which is why they’re so prevalent in this format. Keep in mind that this is an enthusiast flashlight. At a slightly larger size than CR123a you’re getting:
      - greater capacity
      - rechargeable (cost + environmental implications)
      - can supply greater amperage for much greater output
      The main advantage of CR123 is reliability and mass consumer appeal. Advantage of 18650 is aforementioned points sans portability. Hope this helps explains a bit :)

    • @jeffgendron1959
      @jeffgendron1959 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is an option comparable to the Mechforce Mechtorch Ti size. It is the BLF/Luminitop FW3A which came out recently and is very small at only 3.64" long x 1" diameter using an 18650. It uses an electronic tube type switch to save some space over a typical clicky switch which allows very high current and the flashlight produces 2800 lumens. It uses the same Carclo 10mm optics but the 10511 version but you could order the Carclo 10507 or other versions of the optics if you want a different beam. Also comes in Nichia 219, SST20 or Cree LED versions and one of the most popular firmware called Anduril which allows steppless dimming or stepped modes and a bunch of other functions. It's worth a look for a super compact 18650 flashlight if you want small with a common battery size and very high performance output.

  • @MrBosst09

    The light I got can tail stand with no problem. Because the rubber switch is not sticking out like the one you have. So I'm not sure which is the norm.
