Never heard anything about academic excellence. Typical.

Well, i liked her alot, until her final comment; so now i only 'like' her. I just wish she would have also provided one of her co-Authors' counter- argument's - to be fair, against capitalism & for, socialism. EG, there is no proof that the former has done better for Women than the latter, since Socialism has yet to be fully realized anywhere in the World. All attempts have been turned back before even solidifying socialism on the way to communism, for despite the lies the new Dictators will always tell, which includes the former USSR, China, Cuba & any of the rest, but i digress.. As regards however, her specific comment about the good that capitalism has done for Women; let us not forget, that it also accelerated the patriarchy & the oppression of Women. It is why we are even to this day, 2nd Class or worse, Citizens. It is why even, that a handful of men, can dictate to Women, that we may not control our own bodily autonomy, such as forced births. And for a long time, perhaps even still, Women of Color have oft been force sterilized & sans even any knowledge. We are expected to do 3 times the work, for one half the pay. If married, we were & frankly, still are, expected to be the main child rearer & raiser of the next generation of wage slaves, without pay. Being told we are just lucky the man brings home the bacon.
Ah, but now that mostly both HAVE to work, well, that argument doesn't hold much water anymore. Can more of us get jobs now ... own our own home ... open a bank account ... live free of a necessary male bread winner & well - material benefits overall? perhaps, but with no serious measuring stick, how can we know we are actually better off than...? Finally, but as far as our human & civil rights, they are absolutely abysmal! In addition to forced births/ sterilizations, we are molested, raped, experience domestic violence, sexually harassed on the Jobs & more. We literally exist in a society that Females still, regardless our age, In or out of the home, cannot expect to be free from male abuse, as a matter of them as a sex, having a standard of decency & belief that the abuse of Women is wholly unacceptable, no but rather only mostly, after the fact, when we have to seek to criminally punish thereafter. These 'norms' are absolutely as a direct result of the capitalist patriarchy & & Women as part of male property & would exist also under any kind of autocracies & fascist dictatorships. I direct anyone interested in further exploration, to read: The Origins of the Family, Private Property, and the State: Friedrich Engels.
