25 year old B777! | Dubai - London | British Airways Economy Class | Boeing 777-200ER | Trip Report

- Hey everyone and welcome on board the British Airways Boeing 777-200ER from Dubai to London!
British Airways has been a very requested airline so here it is!
They recently tightened their partnership with Qatar Airways, giving frequent fliers like myself the same perks on each airline individually so let’s fly the same route on both airlines and figure out which one we like best!
A couple of weeks ago I met an entire set of British Airways crew in Accra, Ghana, and found that they all had a great bond and seemed a good team. I immediately booked a ticket and decided to see for myself.
And yes, BA’s strength lies in the people. If the employees are happy and have a nice relationship amongst them this will show on the customer.
I was served by a lovely bunch of people, from various backgrounds and ages and all orchestrating a warm and friendly service.
I particularly want to thank Enrique from Spain as he particularly stood out for his service.
I was initially upgraded to World Traveller Plus but I voluntarily downgraded myself as I wanted a window seat. What one does for you…!
Join me on this very busy international route on an overbooked flight from Dubai to Heathrow and allow me to show you BA’s strengths.
Next week I’ll continue this video on Qatar Airways.
I wish you much watch pleasure and look forward to read your thoughts in the comments!
Enjoy!
Today we are showcasing you the following flight:
From: Dubai International Airport, Dubai, the United Arab Emirates
To: London Heathrow, London, The United Kingdom
Flight Number: BA 108
Aircraft Type: Boeing 777-200ER
Registration: G-VIIL
Flight Time: 07:03
Don’t forget to like and subscribe if you enjoyed our video!
Feel free to leave a comment with your opinion and feedback.
Have a nice one!
You can also leave a Super Like as a tip for my work. I’ll invest it all on future trips.

Love to see that some of these old birds are getting refurbished and getting refitted with new cabins. It really brings a ton of new life into these sort of aircraft that BA operates.
One thing that does get my attention is the state of the wings… 😫
They looked so well after this plane, it looks like new and seems they plan to keep it flying for a long time!
BA must be earning good money on them as they’re likely long ago paid off.
The wings it happens, hydraulic fluids and all that. I think it looks cool!
i love the rwy 12 R takeoffs... can see my school during the climb. Nostalgia hits.
Love the trip bro! And that was one happy smile u received....this just brightens up the journey...
I didn’t catch his smile perfectly. I didn’t notice him but he was waving at first and saying hello. Nice chap!
Looks like BA really love their 777-200ERs
They’re looking good after it and they’re paid off, so make more money.
The same goes with KLM who owns most of their planes. That’s why they still have +20 year old B737’s flying around.
@@TheLayoverAviation yeah they'll remain active until IAG get their replacement aircrafts (359?78X?).
Great upload as always my friend! You are most certainly leading the way for informative flight vlogs in my opinion. All the best 👍
Very happy you think that! Glad you liked it, it makes all the work worth it!
Thanks for watching!
great video as always sir alex!
BA looks great, i flow with them 5 years ago to Glasgow, was a good experience, and now they seemed better :D
long live the 777, what an epic plane!
I'm waiting for the next video!
Itai, I hope you and yours are well and safe.
You’re all in my thoughts.
@@TheLayoverAviation Hi Alex!
thanks for caring for me buddy
I am in love with Dubai, I was there 13 years ago and you live in a beautiful city
You must be only one of few people i know of, who buy gifts for the flight crews that serve you on the flights you go on., well done re that it's a polite nice kind gesture to show your thanks so well done regarding that!👍 Awesome flight report as always✈ Noise cancelling headphones would be ideal for background pest !.
Thanks for the video, Alex.
I like to fly on the old jets.. you can smell the gold times of aviation! Its a flying piece of history! 👍🏻
I still need to fly on B777-200..i haven't flown it yet, especially with the old rare RR engines!
Great video friend,Thanks for sharing! Regards! See you!
Hey Maurice! This plane has some years but looks like new! And yes, a piece of history. I was a kid when it started flying and BA was one of the first to operate the B777. I remember being very wowed by the enormous engines they had. The B777 was so new back then. It was very likely that I saw this plane that I would eventually fly on over 20 years later!
Thanks for watching buddy, you’re great!
Love to watch your videos it's virtual trip as you give every minute detail. Thank you so much Sir
A big thanks to you for watching!!! And hope you enjoyed the flight 😃
I too am fond of Plane Arrivals n Departures.
Superb, fantastic and awesome is what I have to say about BA. Highlights of the video were views of Dubai and London and personally I loved the Air India landing from BOM and BA 350-1000 to YYZ. My 2 cities so thanks for filming them.
and again you flew over my hometown of Nuremberg. Thank you very much for showing it. Very nice video, keep it up
Always a pleasure, a big thanks to you for watching!
i always like your spotting it shows the type and destiantions i love that
where you have the information are you 24/7 on flightradar at the airport :D ?
I’m on flightradar at the airport but I can also just check the registrations and the date/time I filmed it, another way of finding the plane!
That's so cool I always enjoy when passengers give us candy it's a beautiful thing because they appreciate us being there to take them to see loved ones❤
Royal air maroc b787-9 would be a lovely and interesting review! Also the airline will order 200 brand new aircrafts soon!
Great video Alex, Heathrow is an Avgeek's Paradise great spotting locations! BA is defo known for their great crew but looks like they've improved and glad they retro fitted the 777's. As a Brit I only fly BA on Short Haul and tend to opt for EK, EY, TK, MS etc for long haul but want to try them again after watching this video looks like they've improved a lot more than expected
Love Your videos!! 😀Hope you film Malaysia Airlines, Airasia, Airasia X, Batik Air Malaysia, Firefly or MyAirline. Looking forward for it!!
Man I love the British Airways 777-300 ER so much. I want to become a pilot in a few years, so hopefully this beautiful jet is till around!! ❤❤
Nice video, last flew BA in August 2022 on a 777, nice aeroplane, good foot, good inflight entertainment, I worked at Heathrow a few years ago and saw tens of planes taking off and landing every day.
Two of my relatives have flown on the A220 Air Baltic flight Riga- Dubai. The fight to Dubai from Riga leaves at 11PM. It is a red eye special. They each paid 150 euros one way.
It’s affordable indeed! I saw good 250 Euro fares to Amsterdam but it’s a bit much for me to handle.. I’ll make a video some day though!
Excellent. Thank you.
Make this trip regularly with both BA and Emirates, from the UK fares in First for BA (I presume because it's not a hub can be very cheap) if I'm working in Dubai the shower on board the A380 makes a difference in getting straight off and going to work, but love the Concorde lounge at LHR T5 and as you say that BA lounge at DXB is very intimate especially the informal First section in the The Bar. Both sets of crews are great but maybe the BA crew just edges it (thanks Samantha for the last trip!), last time had a very short trip so had the same crew out and back which was fabulous especially as I have learnt from your videos that a small investment in Chocolate is well worth it! Keep up the great work I always learn something from you about aviation and love your attention to detail especially detailing the cities you pass over
Thank you very much for this excellent video, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I invariably use B.A on long haul flights, and find them really good. You mention the engines that power the B777, and B.A when placing their order for the first 30 - B777/200s, specified GE90s. At the time it was rumoured, but never confirmed by B.A, that the order for non Rolls engines was linked to B.A’s sale of their engine overhaul facility at Treforest in South Wales to G.E ! Later B777/200s had Rolls engines, but Boeing dithered over producing the long range B777/300 series, and did a deal with GE for the B777/300 s to be exclusively powered by G.E engines. Fortunately Rolls sold many engines for the B777/200 to American operators like Delta, and A.A, and many other operators world wide. I look forward to your flight with QR !
🤩 🤩, I was super excited to watch this as it’s my national carrier and my heart is with British Airways❤. It’s so nice to see more and more people finally recognise the professionalism and friendly crew of BA especially as you were so kind. I do also agree, maybe a little biased but BA and Emirates are equally my favourite airlines. Sadly no 747s 😢 but still have the mighty 777s 😍. Great stuff as always 😊👍👋😎✈️
One of the best BA flight reviews I've seen for a very long time. The food looked exceptionally good 🍷Like you said, a great crew can really make a flight something to remember. Safe travels my friend 🥃🥂🍷
Beautiful journey ❤
Thanks buddy!!
Best flying music. Thank you.
Excellent as always
Thank you!
@TheLayoverAviation waiting for Virgin Atlantic trip report
Very awesome tripreport video :)
I think i will try soon their B777 on a flight ✈
You should!! Worth it and fun!
25 yr old plane. U hv just shocked the daylights out of me, knocked me for a 6.
There are 50 year old planes flying very well!
Really great video!! I'm glad to hear that you had a good experience with British Airways. I flew on them twice in 2018 and like you, I enjoyed it.
The first flight was MAD-LHR on an A321. It was kind of unremarkable, but the crew was upbeat and friendly, and the seats were really sleek and good-looking. It's also worth mentioning that since 2021 they now serve free snacks on short-haul flights, which is good to hear. It's not often that you hear about an airline improving their in-flight service during the pandemic.
The next flight was LHR-MSY on a 787-8 (my first-ever Dreamliner btw), and it was great! The seats were quite comfortable, the food (catered by Do&Co) was tasty, I loved the in-flight map (it was highly-adjustable), and once again the crew was friendly and professional. I also enjoyed the novelty of flying directly to Louisiana, where I lived at the time.
Basically, BA delivered just the basics, but they got the basics really right.
wow amazing fly✈️👌👍❤️
Nice to see you review the airline I now work for haha.
Just hoping your bags made it to LHR tbh with the issues BA has been known for. Flying back home to DXB this Nov on their Club Suites on staff travel once the leave gets approved. I did fly business last time using staff travel from DXB in March and remember the check in being empty then too for the late night flight. Didn't use the BA lounge. I have always been using the Ahlan lounge there for years.
Most 777s are refurbished already with the new product, even the few ones flying out of LGW. Just a handful left (maybe just one or two). The 787s and the A380s should be refurbished by 2025 and the 787-10s and the A350s are just love with the new product!
The perks of working in revenue management (don't worry I work in short-haul for Euroflyer out of Gatwick and don't handle DXB as my route haha! ;) ) is that you have access to the pax reservation system so can see inventory, and loads on each flight, pax list, connecting passengers, etc. Great to see chances of getting accepted onto flights on standby. :D
13:52 And yes, I remember going to Dragon Mart in the 2000s once to get some sort of chandelier for our house back in India lol. They have some rip offs of iPhone's too xD
As always, loving your work Alex. :)
I had a great time on your airline! And the bags made it well.
And yes, knowing the loads are the best thing. I have an app where I can kind of use it, but not as accurate as yours. One day I’ll ask you as it’s easier for me to film empty flights 😛
Revenue management sounds so interesting!! I love to know all these things behind the scenes. I learned what the most money making route per seat per km is on Emirates and who pays the most money. So interesting!
And yes that’s why we all go to Dragon Mart. I just got some curtains there 😛
@@TheLayoverAviation Yes the available seat kilometer (ASK = available seats x distance) metric is interesting. As an RM Analyst, we look at RASK which is Revenue / ASK because different routes have different capacities and distances involved so we use it as a standardising metric to compare say a route like BOM where there are multiple EK flights a day and say MEX with just one a day on a 777. For costs, we use Costs / ASK (CASK can be further split into fuel CASK and non-fuel CASK as there are different kinds of costs involved. So, finance looks at the difference between RASK and CASK which is the profit. Our goal is to maximise revenue on our routes. Load factor is crucial too so on weak months such as winter, we just have to fill flights by staying competitive. Especially with Easyjet and Wizz around. -,-
There are some good videos on revenue management on TH-cam if you're interested. Those that show how we control inventory.
Haha, I'll tell you sometime what routes on short-haul I control from LGW so you can get to me if you feel you've paid too much on those haha!
And yes, the DXB flights are looking particularly busy especially when I want to travel. So many people on standby too. Lets hope I get a business seat.
BA has improved a lot and service is very good, The only problem is continuous strikes in BA and UK airports.
the problem is UK airport in general, I really don’t like to travel there or transit there.. Very strict security policy and old airports.
Hope it improves, but BA was great!
I love the way you cover Dubai Airport. It’s really an interactive way to present the audience.
In order to get access to BA lounge , what are the requirements ?
I so much
Like interior view . while is is on the air. During food time.❤️🇳🇬
great view, wasn’t it!? Thanks for watching!
Suggestions-ANA, Korean Air, Qantas, Cathay or maybe Aeroflot? I myself searched for direct flight to SVO but can't find any Aeroflot flights.
Also Royal Brunei? Its quiet a weird airline itself ! And that's a lot for him to cover. We all are the Gulf Airlines squad ! But I definitely encourage trying new airlines.
I love to try new airlines but as TH-cam isn’t my full time job I can’t just spend thousands of Dollars to fly around. It’s a small channel and I am limited 🙃
Thanks for choosing british airways
I Love British Airways 🇮🇳🏴❤
Great video. It was nice to see BA after a long while.
In the last video I thought night is the best time to fly from Dubai however day has a different experience.
Have you tried Virgin Atlantic airlines?
Old but Gold.
True!
❤😂Always looking forward to the Best Trip Report.😂.Yep Ricky G. Always has you dying of laughter😂.Yes those sbortbread biscuits always addictive😂😂.Love the Trip never stsy that close to an airport. Very jeaulous of you 😂😂😂😂😂..Best to you❤😂.
Spaniard a BA cabin crew member??? Another excellent trip report from you
BA is part of the IAG group along with Spanish national carrier Iberia, so it makes sense why there is one.
@@Gameflyer001 tks a lot for your explanation.
Really awesome video!
Very nice report
Thanks buddy!
Very welcome!@@TheLayoverAviation
6:18, you reminded me on my worst experience on Emirates. It was in 2010 May when I completed grade 12 and I was going on my first out of country trip without parents with 3 other friends. It was from Hyderabad to Johannesburg via dubai. The 1st leg was on an A330-200 and my 2nd leg was on an A340-300. We hoped for a B777 or A380 or A340-500 for the cairo flight, but we got an A340-300 (The plane with weak engines). The IFE box made my legroom more like the ryanair legroom on the Dubai to johannesburg flight. I was the unlucky guy with the reduced legroom when I took the window seat. The IFE in the A330 and the A340-300 didnt have good selection at that time. Only the B777, A340-500 and the A380 had good selection in the IFE.
For those who wondering where did the A330 and A340 come in the comment, Emirates had the A330 from 1999 to 2016 and it also has the A340 from 2003 to 2016. Emirates was even the launch customer for the A340-500.
Big fan brother, love watching your videos with food 😅😂❤
Nothing better then planes and food! Thanks for watching!
Very nice journey.
Thanks!!
Glad you mentioned Accra. I didn’t know you fly to African countries too. Hopefully we get one of those reviews soon.
Yes, I go pretty much everywhere. But over 75% of my flights I don’t get to film because I have to work or don’t have a window seat.
I didn’t film Accra.. I slept all the way as I was tired. But I have to go there again soon to film something!
Excellent👍👏
Thanks!
Actually so happy me working Emirats Flight Cattring,im woking other air line,im doing this flight...💓💓
I think Dubai is the busiest airport in the world that uses just 2 parallel runways. Although Heathrow is a relatively busy airport using just 2 parallel runways, I think Doha's Hamad Airport will eventually be busier than Heathrow with just 2 parallel runways.
Even though it’s the busiest airport with2 runways, the airport is horrible like always
God Bless America
Your flight with BA was far better than mine from the US, the meal everything, it looked so good. Enjoyed your very detailed review, I’m due to fly with them again, hopefully it will be better. I wonder if it’s the route? Plus where the food was put together.
I thought the catering in London would be better vs the one from DXB as LHR is their home base.. I’ll fly them to the US in some months and will have to check!
The only bad thing about DXB is there is no plane spotting location. Mainly because it is surrounded by busy roads and communities from all sides.
there are a few places that are good! I sometimes go with my son. There is a nice spot next to Sports Society, I take my kid there to play and eat an ice cream while we watch planes.
Thres bridge ryt before the runway its great a spot
i came back yesterday on british airways and i want to sometime fly with it again
Gosh, I fell asleep while hearing the engine 🙈 , such a good flight, it was like I was really in that flight virtually 😂. I always wondered what's that brown dirt over the wings🤔.
I love how well maintained and modern the cabin is despite this being such an old aircraft 👍
I do prefer RR engines on the B772s, the Trent 800 sounds amazing during startup and takeoff! 🤩
Fantastic video!
Does a separate flight crew operate GE powered 777's v RR powered 777's or do the same pilots fly both variants?
The pilots fly both variants! There are some differences they’re used to, such as some displays in the cockpit and engine power.
One Emirates pilot told me the RR engines felt underpowered vs GE ones.
nice video
thanks my friend!
@@TheLayoverAviation also all of us wishes Eric well
I've a 14hr flight coming up in a few days. I hope the children like being strapped in when required.
the case of this kid is that his parents likely never strap him in the car or discipline the kid. He was punching his father and mother didn’t care. That means that the kid has no respect and isn’t afraid of his parents. Their own fault.
My kid is punished if he does that! But he is the first one to buckle up!
Yes flying for 7hrs in a narrow body is a big no for me. The chicken Kabasa looked really good.
best videos
Lovely review, watched the whole video and loved it. What's the opening song by the way? the first one before the actual video?
😂❤Always the best way to wake to😂.
From being concerned about my flight with BA on Wednesday, having seen your video it might not be so bad 😛 I've purchased snacks for the crew as you suggested, so hope the bribery works???? Mind I did use Avios to upgrade and got the whole trip for £1 GBP 🤩 It's only a 4 hour hop to Rhodes and to much better weather than here right now 🤧
Pls make a review of Wizzair from Dubai to Budapest
So uncomfortable 🙊
Maybe!
BAs 777 are one of the oldest in their entire fleet. I have always noticed that they always fly the older B777-200s with tiny ass IFEs from the 1980s to India and always the refurbished B777s to the united states. The service is regardless nice , i flew with them in 2019 and got 3 options to choose with meals . It would be much nicer if they had more consistency in terms of cabin design and comfort
Same experience in my BA flight!!
7:44 those wings look tip top condition
Fun fact: BA is planning on keeping their 777-200s until they’re 30! They don’t have any replacements on order yet so it does make me wonder what they will order and when.
I guess more B787’s and A350’s. But I don’t mind the B777’s staying, they’re like new inside. Loved it!
Hey alex its me stefan u remember me that i said i went to turkey and they return me to Sri Lanka nvm its time to head back to Italy with re-entry visaa 🎉🎉🎉
I enjoyed Qatar Airways’ route to LHR as the flight had all of its seats clean, along with monitors. You don’t know this,British Airways’ monitors and seats look quite old.
i spotted this plane a long time ago!
Great flight review 😂
Thanks my friend!
Nice intro
Thanks!
Why can’t airlines just provide metal cutlery in all cabins. Great video again.
The cost to clean and maintain them is too high perhaps?
Please try Aer Lingus one day! ☘️ 🇮🇪
How come you prefer the RR Trent power plant over the amazing GE90?
Platja del Muro is very nice, 29c today.
Well done!!! Enjoy the leave. Greetings from Barcelona, about to go to a rooftop and enjoy some cava 😉
Hey Alex, for the Qatar flight did u go on A380 to LHR, plz tell me u did
No… On the A350-1000. It was my best connection that day. But I will fly the A380 in December with my family!
Can u plz film it on Economy class, plz try the upper deck Economy because on December I’ll fly it so I want to know whether to upgrade to the upper deck or stay on the lower deck
Great, Thanks. Not afraid of flying a 25 years old airplane?
Turkish Forever❤
Great video! Pray tell - what camera did you use for this?
My old iPhone 13 Pro max!
@@TheLayoverAviation looks great!
Smooth landing indeed !!🤣
Like butter!
I'd love to fly on the 777-200 someday
I’m sure you will, it’s a beast!
Hello, I'm Himanshu and I am your one of your oldest subscriber and I want to request you please make a video on India to canada and India to Australia flight video because nowadays many students are traveling in both countries so it's very helpful for all of us thank you 🙏
Hey there, thanks for being around so long!
I want to try to cover your destinations, but I hope you understand that takes many days and I have a very busy job and family..
I’ll however do my best!
love your videos , can you fly on the new air india when their a350 comes in december.
I flew their new B777-200LR, video should come out in 2 weeks or so. But yes, can’t wait to fly their A350!
24:01 how do you know that's an SQ flight? 😱 You're so good at this! ❤
I could follow up exactly what plane was flying there at that exact time on that day. It’s actually very easy!
Is the trip report to/from Accra pending ?👀
BA is very nice but for me when i went to london
i went in indigo's a321neo VT-ILT
then i boarded BA's 787-9 to london heathrow in abu dhabi
i came back in vistara's 787-9 VT-TSD
London to Kuwait 😎
I hope to do so soon!
Les goooooo
Last time I looked Rolls Royce was German. Seems you have a strange fixation on all things British. Good luck with that one! 8:37
I’m quite sure it’s a British company historically, with their base in the UK.. Who the owners are is different. BA’s partial owners are Qatari, that doesn’t make BA a Qatari company though 😂
And yes, it’s a British episode today!
hey bro remember me? i went on vacation to egypt for 1 month
Welcome back, hope you enjoyed the leave!!
Wow the sound quality in the boarding announcment is very good but in a very old 777? 😵
The whole aircraft looks just like new!
I love British airways ❤🤍💙

2:52 why is that so true-😭
Ok 👌
