Reed was perfectly cast and anchored that show so well - bringing some much needed gravitas to a lightweight sitcom. He did fine work and is one of the best TV dads of all time. He also loved his TV children as if they were his own.

I agree, He was great as the stern, but loving father figure that we all need in our early years. Hard to believe that he actually despised The Brady Bunch, and was pretty much stuck there due to contract issues. He only joined the reunion shows solely for the children apparently, since he had inadvertently become a real father figure to them from the Brady Bunch, and didn't want to jeapordize them getting more work by refusing to appear.

I lost my dad many years ago due to the negligence of a physician. Also, his negligence cost the life of a secondary individual one year after my dad died. No lawyer would take my particular case because this negligent doctor had no medical malpractice insurance. My dad told me shortly before he died that this doctor did not know how to properly care for him. Dad told me that he did not want to go back into the nursing home. I was young and ignorant and did not know what to do at the time. I did not have a home of my own to care for my dad. I blame myself. I love and miss my dad!!

He had a lot of problems he tried to hide on The Brady's (1990) and seemed to rest more often than not in trailer. Henderson recalls how tired he looked and that people sensed something. She saw him take a handful of large pills at one time and thought he might have HIV. It is not known due to how private he was when he was diagnosed but I heard his daughter saw it was a year. He was not a happy person mostly because he had to hide who he was and wasn't comfortable with that. He also never really had a relationship with his daughter until near the end of his life. This may be why the Brady kids were like a surrogate family for him. Talented person but one who really didn't like himself.
