NDA's and like he said just working on client work in general. The client is the rights holder not me so I have no legal right to grant adobe the rights they are asking for.
Same thing if I am working on material I don;t own but in a FAIR USE allowed way. MY use of the material might be allowed under fair use doctrine but that doesn;t grant me the right to assign perpetual rights to that material to Adobe!
I saw the writting on the wall when Creative Cloud was announced ... last version of Adobe's tools I've used (other than LiveCycle Designer ... for my government dayjob) was CS6.

I've been using Clip Studio Paint because it has a perpetual license. It's very sad that big companies like Adobe are not content with ripping people off with high priced subscriptions but want to steal our work completely. Hopefully Adobe has enough reputation and business damage to dissuade other companies from trying to pull the same move

Let alone Houdini have free version for non-commercial use that allows you to output obj, VDB even as animation which is actually plenty enough for Student or Hobbyist. Houdini cost around 20 per month, Maya Indie similar too 20 $ bucks!!!, creative cloud cost 60 $ , but you usually want only one or two or max tree programs, so it is actually priced much worse for much basic and simple software, because they thing they have no competition.

My understanding (from other YT videos in the subject - inc Tony Northrop) is that its files stored in CC /and/ images processed using server-based AI. Exactly which functions they are… I don’t know.
I’m using Adobe at work - the Premier Pro transcription features mean I’m using that more than FCP now though it doesn’t other things worse, and none of our content is commercially sensitive. Ditto firefly for creative graphics.
Personally I moved to ON1 for photos as it had the best catalogue features after apple abandoned Aperture, but its photo editing, masking in particular feels to be years behind Adobe.
It’s the difference between giving them the legal right to hold copies in order to provide the service users need and giving themselves the right to reuse and give others access to the material we work on.

Imagine renting a storage unit and the place telling you they now own your content and can do what they want with it.
Try to store as little content in their cloud as possible.
If the purpose of the licensing changes is to allow their AI processing/learning tools access, then that should be laid-out separately and specifically in the license agreement with opt-out options for the user. I have a 10 year old paid-for photoshop version and will never upgrade. I've already purchased Affinity as a future backup plan. They have annual sales where you can get the product for a reasonable price. I hate and avoid the subscription software model as much as I can but understand that's where the real money is as your are held hostage. To date, I’ve never relied on the Cloud. Everything stays on a couple of external hard drives, lead & backup. The backup spends most of its life in a different building. You might technically be breaching a contract by uploading client information to Adobe, but no one would reasonably say, "you are breaking the law" because there is no "law" that you would be breaking. Adobe is forced into this by the copyright law that is very outdated. Until the courts get to it, or Congress fixes it, this is the ONLY way that they can train their AI system. The law makes a sharp distinction between "breaking the law," which is always codified by statute in the United States (due process being a constitutional thing and all), and "breaching a contract," which is not (Louisiana may be an exception -- not sure on that one). The first can be criminal, the second cannot. So a civil judgment ordering damages is not issued because the defendant has committed "a punishable act."
