I was low on Holland but this video def opened my eyes. He has a top 3 ceiling in this draft and that counts for something. If he goes to a good development program he can star in 3+ years
You were spot on with this video. I love everything about Ron Holland EXCEPT for his shooting, like you said, why have a guy on the court if he can't shoot? I'm hoping he falls to my OKC Thunder, but I don't want to see another Josh Giddey situation...having a good player that can't shoot. Keep up the good work!
You were on point with this one, just looking at his improvements from high school (9-12) months really shows a lot. Ron often plays at two speeds but once he understands and incorporates slow pace into his game as well as know when and where his shots will come in the game he will improve as a three point shooter. He has intangibles like competitiveness which makes him the dark horse for sure
bro this draft is so hard to project. so may boom or bust guys its crazy. i love topic and reed but guys like caslte and holland r very interesting. the french guys. matas. rob. the top is wide open im so glad spurs got 2 picks. i want topic and reed and then holland or whoever slips. draft is gona be wild
@@mortystraphouse5077 I like Topic but he will be an average defensive player at best and if his 3 ball does not improve he will be a bust - I still have him in guys I would not mind drafting depending on his knee injury - Topic - Castle - Sheppard - Clingan - Holland - Cody - Carter, are all guys I like
Lol you really typed this. In what wold would the Spurs front office be interested in that sort of trade where there are no “can’t miss” prospects in this years draft?
I haven’t understood the overall feel for this kid. He is big, very quick and plays d. Most GMs will choose the safe route and, and as a result, will be choosing high n the lottery next year.
I like both Holland and Salaun for their potential but they also play something of the same position. I think a better option for the spurs would to be to take one of the two, then go with a guard like Topic
Why are people saying Holland got holes in his game. All of these players has holes. Alex sarr avg 9 points, 4 rebounds and for a center has a terrible FG%, where Center should shoot close to 60% due to pick and rolls. Holland motor is the highest in this Draft and coaching in G league is more of the issue than the players. Stephen Castle is not a knock down shooters but Holland has a better Mid-range and gets to the rim and finishing more than Castle. Castle avg less points, stls and blks. I dont get why Castle is ahead of Holland. I feel if you swap Holland and Castle, Holland would have gone number 1.
Castle is bigger -- Holland to me looks like he'll always be pretty thin even when he gets stronger, think Andrew Wiggins; whereas Castle is a tank like Jimmy Butler -- and his passing his better. Castle is pretty advanced in terms of the types of passes he can throw and seems to understand is reads in PnR. His handle is also bouncier. He uses a hesi often and changes of pace and direction to move defenders. The shooting is very subjective. What I would say is Castle has shown good touch on floaters and his shot mechanics are actually fairly simple to fix. It's actually a lot like Kawhi and LeBron where he has an elongated shot put motion shot and usually has his weight back. Both Kawhi and LeBron had similar issues and both shortened and compacted their shot while shooting with better balance. (If Castle goes SA I'd almost bet on him being a pretty good shooter in time.) Holland's shot is kind of a mess. He brings the ball in front of his face and turns the ball to square it but he doesn't really get his elbow under the ball. And he has a one motion shot but he also dissipates the energy transfer by kicking his feet out reach requires him to aim with his fingers and use his arms to generate power because the ball is falling away from the rim. It's almost like a middle schooler where he has to load up to generate the power. He shoots kind of like Steph but that's not a compliment. But no one should shoot like Steph. It's a miracle and testament to Curry's insane hand-eye coordination and fine muscle control that he can replicate a shot so complicated. But for 99.999% of players you don't want that many moving parts because it is so hard to replicate. That's why Holland's shot looks fine but he misses a lot. There's a lot of room for error because of all the things that need to go right. He's similar to Jaylen Brown in terms of how raw he is and how much work there is to do. His game is all holes right now. Castle is just a lot closer to finished product even if he's also raw.
@@michaelahurt to me the film for castle doesn't pop for me. I look at his team and see that castle had a lot of support and the player's that he is defending isn't going to the rim is more due to Clingan. They all had private workouts with the hornets, so whoever we take I will give the new management a chance.
@@JeffreyOConnell-g4x Players good drafts have holes too. That's what happens when you draft 19 year olds. The last prospect who didn't have any holes in his game was Duncan. But it is a weak draft at the top obviously
I disagree. I see a good POA defender. I lean more with the consensus that his shot creation will limit him to a defense 1st guy. And we seem these are a dime a dozen.
You would need to see a leap from him on the shooting/shot creation end to be any more than just a defender. I do think he has a chance to make that leap though
From clips I've seen, his offensive game consists entirely of dunks in transition. That's not going to translate to today's NBA, where he'll be matched up against the likes of Ant Edwards and Jaylen Brown. They'll eat him for lunch.
Most of these guys can’t shoot. This draft is all guys who have potential but aren’t good yet. Holland has a chance to be great but there’s very few players who weren’t a gamble
I think Ron has better shot creation and “wiggle” than RJ whose a little stiffer. Ron is also stronger and will likely be a better finisher in the paint. Not a bad comp though.
Pistons fan here. I’m happy with the pick 🔥
Me too!
Good call Deeeeetroit Bassssketball

Ron holland please be a multiple time all star and restore this franchise
I lovvvvvvvve Ron Holland as a prospect!! Langdon just have to continue to build this roster to help Cade
There was once a time when he was the consensus. Number one overall for this draft.
I was low on Holland but this video def opened my eyes. He has a top 3 ceiling in this draft and that counts for something. If he goes to a good development program he can star in 3+ years
Great breakdown. Holland has star potential and if he works hard, has a good chance to get there.
For sure. Like his potential a lot
Great job! 👏

good analysis and great prediction, one thing you didn’t really talk about though was his defense
Good & objective analysis 👍🏾
Thank you!

Really like this channel. Concise, organized and organic thoughts on these prospects.
Will say though, don't agree that Kawhi's shot was good in college. He changed it during the pre draft process and it was super notable.
Appreciate it!
Just discovered you channel today... And even if I don't agree with you on his star potential, I might say you make plenty fair and unbiased points
Thanks! I understand not everyone is going to agree 100% with everything I say but I appreciate the support regardless
If he develops a mid-range shot his comp is derozen
Let's Go!
Great video
Could really go anywhere between 2 and 8 I think.
Wonder if the Wiz trade the 2nd pick to the Spurs for 4 and 8. Castle and Holland would be an insane draft.
Lol you really typed this. In what wold would the Spurs front office be interested in that sort of trade where there are no “can’t miss” prospects in this years draft?
Kawhi played in a hard nose intense mountain west conference you can’t compare the twos production
Kawhi Leonard stayed in college for 3 years. He's also 225 vs 197

Vince or raw (under-20) Kobe~ high
Potential~ron Harper, Tony Allen or Gerald Wallace
The floor~is kidd-gilchrist or Josh Jackson
In a guesswork draft, if he is at 7 or lower and you need a point I’d grab him. Young, long, and aggressive and could be a terrific defender.
@@stanleed.harold5457 I'd need more than Tony Allen from a lottery pick. And he ain't Kobe.
Kawhi was around 225 his rookie year, very physically imposing player, this Holland kind of reminds me of PG without the 3pt shooting.
Pistons better draft him! And go get Lonzo ball shooting coach
we got the coach now we need holland
