I’ve been totally dealing with the “mature under eye skin” issues with powder this winter. It’s been brutal. So I’ve been on the hunt too. And I got the powder. But the biggest change that I’ve made that has made a HUGE difference and allowed me to wear powder again. So first I moisturize. And then I put a fine layer of setting powder on (I’ve been using the hour glass on my face/t-zone & just started using the pat McGrath under my eyes), then I use setting spray (I push it into the skin after with a damp sponge/beauty blender), then I go in with primer (I’ve been alternating between a combo of farsali liquid glass or NYX bare with me jelly all over & clarins blurring in the red pot on pore/wrinkle areas), and then I do the rest of my face as I normally would minus the setting powder (but you can do a slight dusting, you can even bake if you do but you only need to do it half the amount). It’s freaking amazing. I have to pat out creases once I’m done but then it stays pretty much smooth. I finish up with a final setting spray. Try it!!

Dawn Webb which setting spray do you use for this? Do you wait between layers? Do you put the primer under your eyes as well? How do you apply the powder? Brush or damp sponge? Sorry, so many questions but your technique is super interesting. I saw a MUA explain this on a video this well, but he applied the powder after the primer, not before, unless I already mixed up the steps. Lol.

Thanks for this review Tara! I tried to love the Hourglass, but for some reason the heaviness is very obvious and highlights texture under my eyes rather than smoothing it. The lightness of the Pat McGrath seems to work better on my texture. I haven’t tried the Dior, but think I will skip it-doesn’t sound like it will be enough coverage on my hereditary dark circles! I’ve also been trying the new Lancome foundation. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
K R same here, I’ll try the Hourglass a few more times with different colour correctors, powders and moisturizers, but so far, it makes my undereye very textured and dry.
So far I've been loving the Dior and the hourglass. I also really like my Nars radiant creamy concealer. I'm intrigued by Pat but honestly that's more concealer then I need for an entire year so I'll probably just put Pat on my to buy list for now.
Ahh, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.. Yes, I wear contacts but they are clear. I used too wear a Tinted pair (so i could find them in my contact case lol) but, if I add even a slight color to them they look even more wild Haha😁❤ When I was younger they used too be more blue, but as I've gotten older they are more turquoise, which is even stonger when I wear bronzy tones on my eyes. 🤪🤣 My daughter has more hazel eyes, and my son is more blue. I'm the only one with that turquoise look. 🙋♀️😁

You and I both. That was my ONLY complaint about the Hourglass concealer is three packaging. It has so much over spill, it drives me nuts.🤦♀️ But I put up with it because I love it 🤣🤣 Thanks for watching my friend❤❤❤

Janni D. Awesome, it’s weird, maybe we are getting it faster in Canada because they use a different mailing company? I like it so far as well, I have to be really careful with the powder as it’s easy to overdo it, but it’s a great powder. The only thing is, sometimes, the powder kind of makes a weird demarcation with the rest of my face, it’s really odd. I think I might try using it as a finishing powder instead. I do have to set this concealer though, but it’s great coverage and not too drying. The Hourglass one looks awful on me, even if I don’t set it, I’ll have to return that one, I feel like an alien for not liking that other one 😂. have extreme dark circles, so I’m playing with correctors underneath the PMG one. Love the glass bottle, so neat!! Do you still like it? I have to play with it more, but so far, I’m impressed.

Thanks for another in depth review! I absolutely love the hourglass concealer. I have over 50 concealers and from the first day I used it it became my HG!!! I am a similar age to you and have the same issues with powder now! I hate it. It makes me look older, it creases worse etc.The only powder Ive found so far that doesn't make me look older and helps hold some coverage ( and I have tried probably every drugstore and high end powder out there!!) is also the hourglass powder. That said after a whole day it can also do the same as others if I'm squinting a lot. The issue I have by not setting is my mascara transfers to my under eye. Ive found one Mac one that mostly doesn't for a few hours but will in the end. I found and tried a Laura Gellar waterproofing top coat on several mascaras and that actually seems to mostly help. But it's an absolute bi**h to remove. How do you stop your mascara from transferring when you don't set your concealer?? xx
I am 51 with dry under eyes, & I’m forever on the search for the under eye solution! I bought the PM under eye powder but not the concealer. I like it better than my other powders, but I don’t love it. I’ve been using the CT corrector & Cle de Peau concealer without powder, & I think that works best for me. I keep a Bare Minerals Barepro stick concealer in my purse for touch ups during the day.
If I use Laura Mercier setting powder, do you think there’s much of a difference with the spat McGrath setting powder? Is it worth buying in comparison?
Thank you for the great review! Tara try By Terry Hyaluronic translucent loose powder. Apply with a squirrel hair brush or with your fingertips for a feather light application. It sets concealer and does not accentuate lines under my eyes.
I am a medium coverage kinda girl and I love the dior but I've really been loving the Armani luminous silk concealer it's soooo pretty and luminous and lightweight I'm obsessed. Not going to lie I cheated in this video and was checking how the foundation looked because I'm excited to hear what you think I've had it in my cart for a minute!
Try nikkia Joy's powder ...I have tried like literally 17 loose powders and it's the only one I'll use under the eyes! I use just a lil bit but it's the only one that's not super dry n cakey in that area
I feel like this is the year of Concealers like last year was the year of Foundations. I'm much more willing to collect concealers since they take up so much less space in my makeup stash. I want to get the Dior, Hourglass and maybe PMG now too lol

Hey maybe Tara or one of her subscribers can help me out! I ordered my first purchase from pat mcgrath and it was the platnium bronze 6 pan eyeshadow palette. It was on sale, and I ordered directly from their website. It arrived, and the packaging is beautiful, but the eyeshadows are... ok? They don't swatch that well, aren't that pigmented and I have to build them up a lot on my lid. Is this what they are usually like? If so that's fine, but if anyone else has a different experience that would make me wonder if they put it on sale because a bad batch
The Pat Mcgrath side looks filtered and flawless while maintaining it's skin like consistency, despite the claim of full coverage. Hourglass is not as filtered or flawless, but looks more moisturised.

I really wish you didnt rate with price in mind. I really hate that you spend 10 minutes talking about price. It seems you're too overly focused on pricing. Let's be honest, folks that are gonna spend 30 bucks on a concealer are looking for quality and are not going to worry about spending two dollars less for something substandard when we are already spending 30 for high quality. So I want an opinion based only on quality and not price. If price was the focus, I'd search for a video on drug store concealers. Now I have to focus on what you're saying in the content so I can get an idea of how the concealer really is based on quality and not price...but I forgot where the price per ounce stuff stops😫

I really wish you didnt rate with price in mind. I really hate that you spend 10 minutes talking about price. It seems you're too overly focused on pricing. Let's be honest, folks that are gonna spend 30 bucks on a concealer are looking for quality and are not going to worry about spending two dollars less for something substandard when we are already spending 30 for high quality. So I want an opinion based only on quality and not price. If price was the focus, I'd search for a video on drug store concealers. Now I have to focus on what you're saying in the content so I can get an idea of how the concealer really is based on quality and not price...but I forgot where the price per ounce stuff stops😫
