I've lived in the city and burbs for over 50 years. I love the change of seasons. To be honest, it's just DEC, JAN and FEB that can be miserable. But it makes us appreciate the other 9 months of the year. As for taxes, politics and crime, its our own fault by continuing to vote for the same decision makers year after year after year When will we learn?

I disagree. Weather in March, April, May, June, middle of September and October is questionable at best. There have been many grey, wet rainy, cold, gloomy crap days in June. There have been recent days in October that were freezing and snowing or ice/raining.
I can even deal with Jan and Feb sucking. That’s expected. It’s the lingering cold or chilly, overcast, damp days for months after that which makes so many people think “come on already).
Two weeks ago I was at my son’s baseball game and everyone was wearing coats and wrapped in blankets freezing. That’s the middle almost end of May. A few years ago I had a flight to California canceled because the airports in Chicago shut down because of very heavy snowfall. Middle of April.
No thanks. Chicagoans continue to true to fool themselves into thinking “it’s not so bad” when we do get those occasional nice days in the spring. Me include. No more. There are many many better options.

I love the city. I lived in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Chicago. I have a beautiful property on the Lakefront. I walk my dog along the lake and enjoy the city view. Winters: I grew up Chicagoland but spent the rest of my life (with the exception of two years back in Chicago) living in a sunbelt city known for its blistering heat, beige landscape, haboobs, low taxes, endless freeways, drug addicts hopping around on street corners, and lack of any affordable (let alone free) cultural amenities - all characteristics notably missing from Chicago. When I was up there in Chicagoland as an adult, I had to buy a whole new winter wardrobe made in China at Carson's because I had no hat, no gloves, and my "winter" coat didn't even begin to address a Chicago winter. I had gone from a place where my skin often stung from the sun to where my skin often stung from the wind chill. Ah! But a Chicago spring and fall can be one of the most beautiful experiences a person can have.

And if you like sports cars, Chicago is NOT a good city for driving.
    1. Spring and Summer = road construction season
    2. Potholes, lots of them
    3. Asphalt pebbles everywhere on the road
    4. Traffic - driving manual will be miserable
    5. Winter - obviously bad for driving a sports car and corrosive salt is everywhere

Traveling via red line from Michigan Ave north to Lincoln Park & Lakeview is very common as many people do it daily...however being 9 or 10pm I'd exercise an extra layer of caution just to play it safe. We have the great replacement phenomenon going on in our major cities right now. Our big cities will become a place where only the affluent can stay and party. All the wealthy people in the world are being courted to move to our big cities. It will get to the point where if you don’t have at least a $200,000 income, you will not be able to afford to live in a big city like Chicago, New York City, or LA. The people that are moving out are people that can’t keep up with the expenses and.the politicians are OK with that. This phenomenon will only accelerate with population growth all over the world. Right now if you have property in one of these big cities like Chicago or New York City or Los Angeles or Miami do not sell because everything will double.

@Denise Hernandez There is no state income tax in Florida. I can legally conceal carry my firearm visiting in the state of Florida also. Florida has a much better governor than the Illinois's governor.

@@rubencohen2936 you must be joking. Desantis is the absolute worst governor and he is destroying Florida.
Income tax is different from sales tax. We don't have income tax but we certainly do have a sales tax

@Denise Hernandez If you Ron DeSantis is a bad governor, you might be living in the wrong state. Florida is a red state.

It’s the OCEANS and SEAS that are rising because of how the poles are melting, lakes aren’t rising now, thankfully.

Lived in the city for my first 26 years, then moved to Berwyn, then moved to Florida in 1984. No state income tax, no city income tax, property tax on my home is less than $1K per year and, best of all, NO CORRUPT DEMOCRATS RUNNING THE STATE OR COUNTY! 😁😁😁
