Okay, Drone Pilots let’s by clear about the Bill Passed. (H.R. 2864) This Bill is strictly for the use of Federal Funding to Purchase or the Use of DJI Drones for Government Contracts. It is not affecting private usage or Pilots. Now to further clarify what is really going on. There are specific “No Fly Zones” for DJI Drones laid out for those flying DJI Drones. As a general rule of thumb a Part 107 Pilot should be aware of where and when they can fly. Let’s be real about it. If the Federal Government is involved DJI Drones are not allowed to be any part of that project or contract PERIOD! Go American or Go Home… That’s the Statement being made! This is the goal of those coming up with opposition to Chinese manufactured Drones. Final Thoughts: “We The People”, need to come together and do something about this problem. Being proactive and letting the Politicians who are writing these Bills need to know American manufactures must start produce affordable drones, so the little guy/gal can compete with Big Businesses. Entrepreneurship is the American way! No one should be shut out of an industry due to the lack of affordability.

Farmers don't care about keeping food prices low. Farmers get subsidies from the government and they try to make as much money as they possibly can. They also don't control the prices. Most Farmers using those agricultural drones are growing soy, corn and wheat, and other cash crops. I don't eat that crap. I buy food that hasn't been covered in pesticides. They use drones simply for the convenience, and because it's cheaper than buying an airplane and fuel. They couldn't care less about you.
Well, Time to support dji even more. First, I think dji need to start suing the other factory for stealing their designs. There alot of dji drones look a likes out there. That's why they can't compete. They need to the eliminate the height restriction. I used to have a hubson drone, I can fly that higher than 120m that regulations will allow. I Already go Mini 2. Enjoy it this mini drone. Matter of fact, Im thinking about getting mavic mini pro 4. Need to step my game up a notch. Better order every accessory parts you can get. You know like blades, motors, cameras, batteries, etc. When this bill pass, These parts will be very hard to find once its ban.
While I am sure there is copying going on, there is a practical reason why different kinds of drones look alike. They are designed for functionality and not appearance. It is like how all (most) airplanes have 2 wings. They aren't copying each other's design but physics and engineering makes them similar.
unless all drone footage is uploaded, what is the problem when all sorts of other vulnerable tech continues to be ignored while constantly on the internet?
It’s a shame. I am simply an occasionally recreational flyer. I only fly out of a park near my house normally, and certainly not interested in flying near sensitive areas. Why can’t the ban simply target people flying near areas such as restricted ones or airports, etc.? I have always supported the practice of flying drones safely and a non-restricted flying environment. With this bill put down in the Senate I feel that it certainly will be handled in the same way in the house. Therefore I feel like I must order and receive the smallest new drone, the DJI Neo. It is small, looks like fun and works with all of the DJI equipment that I already own. I hope this DJI drone act will not be passed. If that happens however, I do hope that the American drone industry will be able to innovate and create other worthy and continuously improved products and control software over time.
This is the senates revision... sent back to and passed by the house without further modification. I cant imagine a scenario where they wouldn't pass their own revision.
That's a tough one. I think DJI makes good product, I've used them and like them. I am concerned with having good internal core technologies made and owned by the US. I don't mind having external competitors, but from what I've seen there isn't a really good comparable company to DJI in the US. Most of the rest in my opinion are really not good quality or design. Which makes us very relient on DJI and by allowing them longer, we'll only become more dependant on them. By restricting access, maybe we can have better internal US drone products made. Then I'd be ok with lifting the ban.
But then the Chinese will copy and reverse engineer the better US technology and have them manufactured in labour camps by persecuted group of the moment like Tibetans, Fa Lun Gong and Uyghurs.
