So glad you enjoyed the lesson, and thank you for watching! I highly recommend Marla Fibish for all things Irish technique on the mandolin -- she'll be able to guide you better with ornaments than I can!
I know I'm asking again, but, please can you make a more in-depth tutorial? I love this tune and you play it so well! There are no 'Morning Dew' fiddle tutorials on TH-cam as far as I can see. How are you playing your bow hand to get that swing? What sheet music are you using? Sorry...but, please.
@@HannahHarrisCeol Cool! That sounds excellent. I hope to catch it live if I'm not at work or asleep. If not, I'll watch on your channel afterwards. I'm sure it will be very informative.
@@stevenjohnson2799 I’m going to have to push this back a week-we’ve got high winds and power outages here! ☹️ Sorry for the delay! Stay tuned for next Thursday!
Hi Hannah. Can you please do a slow tutorial of 'The Morning Dew' from start to finish and building in all the instrumentation. You play it so well but, for a learner, it looks quite difficult...although I'm trying. And, which version are you playing...E minor or Major G scale? It would be great to have the notation and see your left hand etc.
Steven Johnson Hi Steven! It looks like you can adjust the playback speed settings on TH-cam so you can slow down my playing if you like! Morning Dew is in E minor. I’ll also add it to my list of tunes to re-record. Hope this helps!
@@HannahHarrisCeol Brilliant! Thank you Hannah. I have been slowing it down and can play the basics. Yes, please re-record it when you have time. It's a beautiful tune and it would be great to understand how you play it from the basic form to the more 'jiggy' version at the end. The hard thing about watching somebody play the fiddle is that when you look at what their fingers are doing, it's hard to see whether, for example, it's a 3rd finger playing G on the D string or the third finger playing D on the A string etc and did you just play an open D and then an open A etc, or, two open A's. It would be great if you could just break it down a bit for us novices...And thank you very much for taking the time to reply!
@@HannahHarrisCeol here is the link and when you get it could you possibly tell me what fretting to do because I am blind and I do not know how to play the fiddle at all so yes here is the link for you Hannah th-cam.com/video/WMGvQ2v-ZRM/w-d-xo.html
Qlty Grl hi! I’m actually putting more weight into the string but just emphasizing the first note of the roll. You’ll end up releasing a bit of the weight for the other four notes
Excellent. Always a bit of a mystery until someone like Hannah Harris breaks it down for us. Thank you
Oh you're too kind Jim, thank you! Always happy to demystify rolls :D
I love your Morning dude and your Morning dude role
Thanks Hannah, great lesson. I’m trying to apply your advice to the mandolin. 👏👏👏👏👏

Beautifully exposed ! Thanks a lot !
You are most welcome! Thank you for watching :)
Fantastic! Just starting off and this is so useful. Not too bad on the ears or the eyes lol
So helpful, thank you!
Glad it was helpful for you! Thanks for tuning in :)
Very helpful!!! Been searching for a way to learn this technique!
Yay! Thanks James, glad you're finding it helpful!
Thank you Hannah, that was so clearly explained.
Thanks for watching, Selina! I appreciate you!
Thank YOU!!!
one of the trickiest ornaments!! Glad that one resonated :D

Hi Steven! Keep an eye out later this week -- I'm planning to do a live tutorial and will save it to my channel afterwards :)

Great help
Thank you.
Thank you for this great tutorial, it's very helpful! I love all your videos. Just wondering what fiddle you play?
Thanks so much, Paul! The fiddle I'm playing in this video is French in origin and was made by Paul Hilaire in 1977 for William Moennig & Sons.
@@HannahHarrisCeol Thanks, Hannah. It has a great tone, due to your great playing!
Thanks!
Muito bom e bem explicado, gostei.
Love it!
Hi could you possibly do a tutorial on the night visiting song if you would like I would link a video for you
Please do, Tiernan! I'm not familiar with it, but happy to give it a try!

Are you brushing the string or lightly touching it? I’m having trouble with that part.
