    I know she is here for the curls.
    But, I'm here seeing how gorgeous her skin is. Remembering how broken she felt when she said she felt like she looked like a monster. It took me a minute to realize this is her real skin tone. This is her natural glow. Seeing her glow up gorgeous skin gorgeous hair gorgeous smile. I'm glad she is still bring us the motivation we need to love our skin and hair.

    Olaplex: More length/volume

  • @flaviopons142

    Looking at the ingredients the two products do not really compare. Curlsmith seems like a protein treatment heavy in creatine (not keratine) and vegetal extracts, but does not contain anything that replace the actual bond builder in Olaplex, that is Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate (second ingredient after water in Olaplex 3). It probably works well, but not in the same way, Olaplex in fact is totally protein free, I would rather say they are complementary.

    • @alee7322

      So CurlSmith is more like Apogee?

    • @flaviopons142
      @flaviopons142 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@alee7322 not sure, I have Curlyfic by aphogee but it is a quick mask, this is supposed to be washed out, so I imagine the brand is confident that the strengthening resists the shampoo. But just by the ingredients yes, seems more like a protein treatment with some other nourishing stuff. Olaplex is instead supposed to build the bonds that keep the proteins together inside the hair. I do use Olaplex and usually, before, I wash and then condition with proteins, or use a protein leave-in together with Olaplex. Not sure if it works actually better, but it seems logical to provide some protein as well.

    actually the silicone used in olaplex (ammodimethicone) is beneficial if you have color treated hair bc it seals your hair shaft to trap moisture in + keeps the color longer

    The wording in what the product is, is very specific. As a licensed professional, I am olaplex certified and olaplex is a bond BUILDER. And the active ingredient is patented so no other product can BUILD bonds. It seems like the curl smith is a bind protector.. maybe something with protein. Not exactly sure. The curl smith one I’m sure is nice but it won’t be able to replace the olaplex.

    • @jsspald
      @jsspald 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I thought about that too however does that mean that olaplex is the only product that CAN be a bonding product or does that mean olaplex is the only company that can use that bonding agent?Hmmm I have alot of questions.

    • @Lily_of_the_Forest
      @Lily_of_the_Forest 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since olaplex is more expensive, would using it 4x per year (think with the seasons) then using curlsmith the other times be the best of both worlds?

  • @Cook_with_mE1907

    Why does everyone say "for heat damage, color damaged" when ppl with high porosity more so need it as well your hair doesnt have to be damaged to use these products

    • @kittentree198
      @kittentree198 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Probably because most people think that’s the only way you end up with high porosity hair. The majority of high profile natural hair YT profess to be low porosity or refuse to say 🙄

    • @hannahmorgan9782
      @hannahmorgan9782 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Or its because its not virgin hair
      Its been altered from its original state and needs extra care regardless of porosity

    • @yoshira321
      @yoshira321 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I agree with you, I think it’s because when someone looking for help with their hair it’s usually because it’s damaged and their trying to bring it back to life. So as a brand, if I’m creating a product that will help with that I would mention that it’s good for “damaged” hair. I personally don’t have much damage, if any. But, my hair has different porosity levels so it gets tricky sometimes. I’m excited to try these and see if they help my roots.

    I use Olaplex once a week (pretty religiously). My stylist, who I trust DEEPLY, recommended that I always clarify my hair (from roots to ends) before applying it. According to her, product build-up prevents Olaplex (or any other bond-builder) from fully penetrating your hair. If it's just sitting on top of a film of product residue, you're wasting valuable time, energy, and money! NOT GOOD! And yes... I take essentially three showers every Olaplex day. lol ...Clarify -> Rinse #1 -> Olaplex (bake for 45 mins) -> Rinse #2 -> Regular shampoo & deep conditioner (bake for 30 mins) -> Rinse #3. It's a super high-maintenance, weekend-only wash routine, but I'm determined to put an end to breakage and make my 2c/3a, high porosity hair the healthiest, longest, and strongest it can possibly be! It's well worth the effort, IMO! :)
    Also... I *LOVE* Curlsmith, and am looking forward to trying this product on for size as soon as my bottle of Olaplex runs out (which shouldn't be too long, considering its size -- Bianca is giving it to us straight lol).

    I think the Olaplex side is much curlier at the roots, but both sides look great! I'd probably still buy the Curlsmith stuff just because of the price. Then again I'd buy neither because they are both hella expensive, lol. But if I bought one it'd be the cheaper one.

    I do not think these products are comparable because Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate the key ingredient in Olaplex N.3 is not in Curlsmith product. Also Olaplex is protein free where as Curlsmith uses proteins. I think that they help repair different parts of the hair and could be used in conjunction in a healthy hair regimen but not as a dupe or replacement.

    I’m definitely down to try this. I spent 4 years at a job that required me to have my curls up in a bun and unfortunately ruined my curls. I’ve started using curlsmith and have been looking into olaplex. But if I could stay in the same product family I would love that!!! I’m genuinely excited to try this product and hopefully be one of your bond models!!!!!

    And I agree with your thoughts on the Curl Smith vs. Olaplex comparison!
    The Curl Smith side looks more defined. But Olaplex made your hair look more full and you had more volume.
    But like Penny said on your live that the more shrinkage you have the healthier your hair is? Because it springs up and is able to hold its shape.

    • @anicyaherrera9585
      @anicyaherrera9585 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it would help because some curly hair youtubers have healthy hair but still do protein treatments and hair masks. It will just give you a little ump and curl definition and help with the breakage.

    • @Deltadivaix
      @Deltadivaix 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will. It's not just for color damage.

    • @TheDaneyeledee
      @TheDaneyeledee 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to be mindful of why your hair is dry and breaking. Is it because you need more moisture in your routine, is it because your hair is damaged, is it because your need a trim, etc. If you have dry hair, I would not recommend CurlSmith, which is a protein treatment. The protein could potentially dry your hair out even more.

    I have been dying to try Curlsmith for a while!! I don't see much of a difference with Olaplex cause I can't use their other products cause of the silicone. My hair is dry, damaged, and tons of shedding in the shower. I did a chop in 2016 since then no dyes, bleach, or heat but still damage. I love your videos and hair. Even if you don't select me looking forward to seeing the chosen ones hair journey!!
