    After watching so many others basically say, "Look, my hair looks good on both sides" it was helpful to get some scientiffy info and actually make an informed (inevitable) purchase. Thanks again!

    I've been watching influencers with gorgeous hair do this and talk about how "It's the same on both sides!" (i.e. looks exactly the same as before they used the products). So I am very thankful that YOU actually tested it on damaged hair. Keep being awesome.

    A big pro for the Curlsmith product, is that it targets all three bonds; whereas the Olaplex product only targets disulfide bonds. Combined with Curlsmith being cheaper per mL... I can't wait to try it!

    Because of this channel I really learned so much about my hair, I finally buckled down and took this quarentine to figure out my curly way. Thank you so much for this! I've been saying this all along. These 2 treatments SHOULD NOT be compared because Olaplex is protein free. I trust your opinion because you always go in with the SCIENCE. I currently use Olaplex n°3.. it is definitely helping with breakage .. my hair is low porosity and doesn't like protein too much. Thank you so much for clearing up what I knew all along. I just hate when influencers compare products without the knowledge of ingredients.

      @@staceycordell3739 I think every single influencer I've seen being paid to advertise this product lately has done an olaplex and a curlsmith comparison 😅 I'm assuming that was one of curlsmiths requirements when agreeing to the ads and what they asked for from influencers 🤷🏻‍♀️ it's a shame it almost feels like they're all creating the same content around this product and it would have been nice to see them have some more freedom on how they wanted to advertise/promote the product. Because you're right, olaplex doesn't contain protein or conditioning agents so they're not really the same thing 😅

    After salon hairlights, Step 1 & 2 were used on my hair in the salon, possibly with no 3 and I felt and saw the difference. Thank you Mel for being the only influencer to give an honest review and call it what it is. A protein treatment. I like that you recommend using the Olaplex with the Curlsmith Bond treatment. I'm also assuming that the Curlsmith might put you at risk for protein overload if you're hair isn't damaged if you use it once a week like the Olaplex.

    This was such a great video! As someone who *didn't* like Olaplex (sacrilegious, I know - my mom's dyed hair honestly showed very little improvement after two bottles' worth of treatments), I find myself curious about Curlsmith's new salve. Once my mom runs through her current stash of Botanika's The Mender (strong protein treatment, I've seen it compared to Aphogee), I might consider suggesting Curlsmith for maintenance.

    Mell thank you for the extensive review. I saw Amanda’s video & I quickly bought the Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab Salve. I applied it & kept it for 1 (one) hour on dry hair. It did nothing for my hair & my curls looked dryer & lasted only one day. I will give it a second try & circle back. 🤞

    • @ManesByMell
      @ManesByMell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I wouldnt recommend using the No. 0 with any other product than the No. 3, not even on it's own. It's like a prepping treatment for the No. 3 to enhance the penetration of that to make the Olaplex work even better, i wouldn't waste it on anything else IMO

    Awesome as always Mel. The only thing you didn’t mention is that us Canadians can’t get many Curlsmith products. I just spent over $100 cdn, plus shipping and then customs charged me another $50 for delivery. So a $1.00 difference from olaplex to Curlsmith, will actually turn into $50 +\- difference. Mel, ask Curlsmith to ship from Canada! We need them.

    I don't knowif I'm okay with them not disclosing the chemicals that work on the bonds. I get proprietary and all that, but still it bothers me.
    Thank you for breaking it all down, Mel. I'm debating buying the CS when it is time to replace my protein mask. My hair is naturally weak. I don't color or use heat styling and it still is prone to breakage. I always thought it was dry, but you helped me figure out I had hygral fatigue. I'm mostly balanced now.

    Love scientify Melly! We just need to get you a pocket protector to complete your look. (I went to a very nerdy school, and they sold ones with our logo in the gift shop.)
    It’s so helpful to get a fact based explanation of how the products work and why you might want one or both. (I think i might be a “both” person.) I’d love to see a roundup/comparison of different protein treatments, and how to choose the right one for you. My hair loves the first one I tried, but I’d love to learn more.

    Happy new year!! And this is why I love Mell. Most other people don't get down to the scientify part of hair care. This is why Mell was the first hair care pro that I actually started listening to and following recommendations from and subscribed to her channel. I'm actually pretty amazed how quickly you can get results from these 2 products. Pat's hair stopped breaking so much after one use! I've been using olaplex since Mell told me to. Now I gotta try curl smith 😁. Thanks Seesters for a wonderful job once again.

    So glad you talked about it using chemistry! Thanks for making chemistry fun!!! I really enjoyed this video and found it very helpful when making my decision for protein treatments specially because I do want to do a big color change in the next 6 months! So thank you so much for the comparison I didn't know I needed! For the next comparison could you compare it to one that you know might not work? The doesnt sem to be a huge difference between the two products but I think it would be helpful to see what it looks like when a product isn't working for your (my) hair. Thanks again for this video! Sending textured vibes!!
