How would that work with three wheels, if the rear wheel is always pointed forward? Even if you could make the front wheels turn in opposite directions, the tadpole-configuration three-wheeled vehicle would not rotate in place. If you could get the front pods and rear wheel to steer sideways it could be done, but the pods steer in the same direction and won't turn 90 degrees. The rear wheel doesn't steer at all.
@@CommanderMaga good point. I need to make a model. Tank turns were slated as a possibility once. But that would be cool to Actually test. Steve? High school project for someone?
@@andrewmclean1239 It's an interesting engineering exercise. Suppose you could make the rear wheel turn completely sideways, 90 degrees to the direction of travel while standing still. Just to share about range: I get 50 miles electric range on my rav4. That’s typically enough for 4 to 7 days for my life. And I can pretty much charge it for free while I’m in the gym/grocery store parking lot.
I’ve got a CDL-A, and I think the furthest I’ve ever done commercially in a ten hour shift was >600 miles. The furthest I’ve ever driven in one day in a POV was 1000+ miles in ~20 hours (during that CrowdStrike outage) and that fking sucked. You don’t want to drive 20 hours straight on the highway.
So you can have a motorised tricycle (with just one central headlight at night!!!) in the US that’s WIDER than the car width maximum allowed in the EU = completely & utterly bonkers, AND… How come Aptera were allowed to take reservations money off us all in the EU/UK under false pretences? = dishonest…
With some solid stats and finished production vehicles this should give the investors and public a boost of confidence. The economic upswing will also be a benefit.

Are you planning to come to east coast?
Its nice but i cant support it until is a released product…. What happened with ellio? Going on with lucid? ….
I saw an Ellio in Albuquerque. It was run by a geometro engine. 😅
You re launched crowd funding, thats great but sounds bad. Other money fell through?
Of COURSE the other deals fell through- we have seen MANY such failures of capital ventures
Of course not. They have been translated into the PI builds you are seeing. More money for ramping up production.
Before ending the previous crodfunding round Aptera already announced that they will open it again after a round for accredited investors only.
Don't listen to those attention seekers who wish Aptera (and any other startup as well) nothing but bad luck.
Steve, if you give me one, I'll drive it through a Maine winter in EV-doubter country and give it a solid real-world drive test for the season. Plus, I need a new car. 😁
In a perfect world for me, I'd have the Aptera for my general running around, and a Rivian R2 if I needed to carry more than one passenger, carry multiple bulky items, or slog through snowy roads.
Or get a a Tacoma for a fraction of the cost and not worry about it anymore. Another option is smaller SUV plus expanded metal trailer when necessary.
I have been following the progress for years. I am beginning to wonder if this car will ever be produced. Lots of talk some progress but way to slow to be out for awhile. I would be surprised to see them on the road in 2026.
when is release date
Just to share about range: I get 50 miles electric range on my rav4. That’s typically enough for 4 to 7 days for my life. And I can pretty much charge it for free while I’m in the gym/grocery store parking lot.
You don’t need 1000 miles electric range
I’ve got a CDL-A, and I think the furthest I’ve ever done commercially in a ten hour shift was >600 miles. The furthest I’ve ever driven in one day in a POV was 1000+ miles in ~20 hours (during that CrowdStrike outage) and that fking sucked. You don’t want to drive 20 hours straight on the highway.
Hilarious how these commenters still haven’t figured out this is a scam even after 19 years of broken promises.
Almost 21 years
Are UK/EU reservation holders ever going to get their Aptera? Word has it the Aptera is too wide for our roads. Is this true?
By law it will be a car in Europe, so many many more rules, it would need to be completely redesigned
So maybe in 10 year
@@shrimptopian3392 Why would it need to be redesigned? Obviously it's a car, was this not always the case?
The cuurent aptera is designed for the motorcycle law in us
In Europe it will not be a motorcycle by law but a full car
So different regulation
So you can have a motorised tricycle (with just one central headlight at night!!!) in the US that’s WIDER than the car width maximum allowed in the EU = completely & utterly bonkers, AND… How come Aptera were allowed to take reservations money off us all in the EU/UK under false pretences? = dishonest…
@@shrimptopian3392 Motorcycle law??? Why? Is this so that they can sneak around crash safety laws? Why would they do this?
Okay but when do you deliver the first cars?
Happy Thanksgiving Aptera team and Aptera community, we are thankful for both of you! Great PI progress and update!
who goes into production first: tesla roadster or aptera ?
Aptera will go bankrupt first, and than there is a chance that another company will make it, so maybe 2030
How does Aptera intend to cope with the risks involved with the potentially incoming tariffs?
With some solid stats and finished production vehicles this should give the investors and public a boost of confidence. The economic upswing will also be a benefit.
Economic upswing, lol
@@AverageJoe928 Maybe in California after January 20th!
@@AverageJoe928 @SteveBueche also believes a single volcano eruption emits more CO2 than humans have. In other words, he's fact "challenged".
@@dennisroe5178 How would California be immune to the pending inflation & economic chaos triggered by tRump’s tariffs?
@@gr8dvd California governor Newsom has stated he will establish rebates for electric vehicles if the federal rebates are discontinued, remains to be seen! California is working on motorcycle pollution standards that may grant Aptera some further advantage, remains to be seen! So, maybe in California after January 20th!
