I believe in what Aptera is doing. I have invested a little bit and it would be great if it pays off (both economically and environmentally). If not I will have done what I can do. I remain excited and hopeful. Time will tell.

I just started reading about Aptera I would like to know how do I go about getting on the order list? I think it’s a wonderful car. I can’t wait to get started.
@billsmith5960 not yet. Crash testing, air bags calibration, EPA energy consumption, approval for on the road federal regulations all have to be done on the production intent vehicles. Not just computer simulations.
I would like to drive one. I have a fleet of 3gas guzzlers. It would be nice to get one that commutes on nice days 8-9 months in the ❤land. Save my 20+ old SUVs for the winters and short drives.
I have always been interested in fuel efficiency in my vehicles (mostly because I am cheap and prefer to go further for less gas/money). I recycle plastics and paper as much as possible. I have heard of programs that recycle clothing and I am willing to explore that. So when I was first introduced to Aptera in 2007 I was very interested (and heartbroken when that didn’t pan out). When I found out that Aptera was back I was thrilled and finally in a position to invest a little money into it. I would love to have my Aptera yesterday, but I trust the folks at the top are making the right decisions and for the right reasons. I can wait and in the meantime fill up with gas for the commute back and forth to work.
Why are you still filling up with gas. A long time ago you should have repurposed a Leaf and put solar panels on the roof of your house. Then used that as cheap way for transport all while waiting for the Aptera you ordered. I ask this, "What is the date you'll receive your Aptera."
@@billsmith5960I do have solar panels on the house. I was driving a 2010 Honda Insight EX until that got destroyed earlier this year. At that time I had a 2014 Lexus CT200h fall into my lap for a great price. As a family we have already made a trip across half of Texas and back, and my wife and I am going to be making a roadtrip back and forth from the Texas panhandle to Las Vegas, NV in December. So right now a Leaf doesn’t work for us. I also want my kids to learn to drive on a stick shift (maybe a Honda CRZ or a VW TDI for the sake of fuel efficiency). I intend to trade the Lexus in on what the kids learn to drive on. And in a few more years I want to talk my wife into a PHEV. So there is a plan and a reason for it all.

I am an accelerator and looking forward to getting my Aptera. At least I got a round number a factor of 10. I won't tell you the multiplication factor.
With current solar technology the Aptera gets 40 miles per day without fossil fuels. What is deceptive about that? With up to 1000 miles range with current battery technology and more than 100 miles from overnight 120 Volt charging (about 40 cents worth), think of the money you will save. Incidentally more than half our electricity comes from renewables. I have solar panels on my house and had zero electric bills for the past 3 months.
Most of the video was good, but the person saying that the Aptera uses less energy than his ebike is just wrong. A typical ebike has a 500 Wh battery and can go 30 miles, so that is 16.6 Wh/mi; whereas Aptera uses about 100 Wh/mi.
The person who said that is referring to the 40 miles in range one gets during a very sunny day. He is a bit confused about the concept as it is a different matter from power usage.
I think more then the suspension had to be changed they went from a direct drive motor in each wheel to one in the middle of the body, so axles need a place through the body to the wheels, steering might to be rerouted, the front has to be redesigned to fit the motor and be strengthened to take on the torque of the engine when accelerating to name a few things that come up in my mind as non car mechanic but as biomedical engineer 😉 They are testing my patience, I want this vehicle on the road rather yesterday then tomorrow. I understand it takes much afford and there are setbacks. Since I found Aptera years back I started saving money to get one, by now I have enough money saved to buy two of them because I expected them to be on the marked much faster. I hope they will make it, many new car companies with great innovating products do not make it, Lightyear, X-Bus, Sion solar EV to name a few.
They'll lose their shirts with low production. They need to go big or go home. Instead of wrapping the car, can I get solar on more surfaces? If panels are light enough, it would be worth it to use solar panels on the sides, doors, and belly pan.
More solar means more converters and regulators. These are custom converters that keep the system charging when the sun isn’t casting on the cells. This is no easy task and not cheap. I’d say you’re only getting the max as shown on the website. If you have the skill and knowledge, go for it yourself. But really, do you drive more than 40 miles a day?
So does the car come with air conditioning? Seems like all the videos show the car being driven with the windows down. No AC in Georgia is a non-starter.

Drag losses go exponentially with speed and he was talking about expressway speed.
Aptera has not found funding yet for MP. Without $60M they won’t build many production units.

Yes, plus you can turn it on before getting into the sEV.
