Sat down at my DAW to make a similar type of beat tonight and I was incredibly unprepared. Felt like there's a million layers in the original song. You made the sound look a lot more attainable. Dope video man.
Yeah, a lot of Steve's more popular songs are deceptively simple! Lot of times it's just drums, bass, guitar, maybe some synth, and vocals (although he does do a lot of vocal layering/harmonies that can get a bit more on the complex side). For this style of music, simplicity is key.

Sorry for responding so late! You’re not the first person to ask this question, so I’ve been thinking about making more tutorial-based videos when I have more free time. There’s already a lot of great material out there though, so I’m not exactly sure what I’d be adding lol, but sounds like it could be fun.
In the meantime, you can check out some of Underbelly’s Ableton tutorials, and Drew Grit has some pretty good production stuff as well. I haven’t watched it yet, but the Ethan Davis video “Music Production for Beginners” video looks like it could be a good place to start, too.
